My ex-girlfriend was an extra on that show Castle, she played a juror, and she said Nathan Fillion was really nice and chatted with her and other extras between takes, asked her about some of her doodles in the notebook she was given as a prop. I wasn't surprised to hear that, he really just seems like a good dude. Also Adam Baldwin is a solid libertarian. And a Rush fan!

The P90s, MP5s and M9s etc heavily featured in the Stargate franchise would be pretty boring to cover, as I'm sure most people are familiar with them. A few guns like the Carter Special or Sheppard's P14 would be interesting. The triple barrel shotgun and dressed-up M9 from Atlantis would also be interesting, but they were recycled from other movies/shows.

Yeah, the state has a lot of control over peoples lives (just like the European Countries do), but you're still free to have a business, own a house/property, and free to pursue your own interests. In communism, the state controls everything. You work where you are told, you do not own property and so live where you are told, and you are not free to pursue your interests unless the state first approves it.

Firefly was the prototype for the mordern Marvel MCU, Joss Whedon's first Avengers movie had all the beats from the Firefly series and springboarded the MCU into cinematic greatness. The fact Firefly itself only lasted one season due to atrocious network mishandling and then got hastly wrapped up in a movie is really sad to say the least.

Cast chemistry on Firefly was a once in a lifetime experience! They ate more catered food on the set than anybody else! Whedon ‘s greatest work, because he created a believable family that people could emotionally invest in! I’m 74 and still love the series and the movie made from that cancelled tv series! I’d like to think that somewhere Serenity is still falling apart! “What was that?”

Vera is a work of art, and I'm shocked to find that the inner workings of Mal's blaster is a Taurus Model 85 .38 Special revolver! Sweet! Gotta keep doing more of these kinds of videos to break up the monotony of doing gun reviews... Although we love to see James running around the range in his short-shorts with the latest AR or semi-auto pistol to hit the US markets, us Sci-Fi geeks need some love, too - and this just totally did it for me! The movie, Serenity and the Firefly series are iconic in the Sci-Fi world, as they melded the 1880s Western dystopian universe of Westworld with the ensemble cast chemistry of the original Star Trek series. Bravo, James - another great video in the can, and this just goes to prove why I tell others that TFB-TV is one of the best gun-related content channels on the Internet, right up there with Paul Harrel, Clint Smith, and John Lovell.

Just want to point out that in Firefly/Serenity, they were still working with bullets. Man portable energy weapons were a rarity in the universe outside the government and even those featured were more like a less-lethal option.

Been awhile since I've watched Firefly, but as I remember, laser pistols were not only outrageously expensive, the central government made them highly illegal, unless you have "connections" or are part of the military. But, I might be mistaken.

You lost me when he called the first weapon a "laser blaster'". He obviously knows nothing about the props he worked on as it was a point in a couple episodes that the guns fire bullets and that lasers were very rare, and we only saw two in the show.

I think it is possible to be involved with the props of a show and simultaneously not know the lore of a show. Its also possible that he did so many projects outside of Firefly that some of the finer details about one small show that he did slipped his mind. Personally I like to give people the benefit of the doubt.

This "Star Trek" fan watched every Fox TV episode of "Firefly" that those Teenage Mutant Fox TV programmers deigned to broadcast. Then I bought the DVD set and saw "what was Too Hot for Fox TV." My disdain for Fox TV is lifted only for "Bob's Burgers" or "The Great North.";)

There are several non firing replicas of Mal's pistol out there. That said, I feel the same way about the DL44! If only someone made an affordable reproduction of the C96 Mauser, I'd be all set!

In retrospect I'm not sure about the lore myself but I always thought most of the guns in Firefly were supposed to be some sort of coilgun hybrids. Like... magnetically accelerated firearms.

I had a solid chuckle the first time I saw Firefly and realized that not only was Nathan Fillion using a G36 in episode 1, but that the turret he used had a Weyland-Yutani logo in the HUD and the Alliance Military were all wearing recolored Starship Troopers armor.

As a Firefly fan, this is a very cool video. You talked about the FX being outdated on the show. If you want to see outdated FX, check out Babylon 5. As good as the show writing and cast were, the CGI is seriously dated.

Larry is a genius. He seems to be one of those guys with the skill when it comes to firearms that is just natural to him. It's fun watching him on TV or here seeing how he is just able to come up with these creations.
