Jodi Benson, the voice of The Little Mermaid appeared at her first non-family wedding to sing "Part of Your World." For licensing/commercial usage, please contact licensing@rumble.com
The fact that the bride was the only person that knew who she was made it 10 times more special since you could tell that movie really meant a lot to her.
Agreed. This made the wedding perfect for her. You could tell by looking at her as Jodie was singing how much having her there singing this song meant.
I had tears in my eyes, the little mermaid was my favorite Disney movie. Seeing her light up as Jody sang and she sang along with her every note was simply beyond exquisite. A memory that will last a lifetime and I am sure if they have a little girl, she will be named Ariel. I was going to do that however, I just had 2 handsome boy's, now men. Congratulations to the happy couple and dream's really do come true.
I give her, A LOT, of credit for keeping bright young vowels, and still singing mixed as much as she could despite the clear aging of her voice that wants her to sing with more maturity. She keeps that youth alive for the character but I seriously commend her on being able to form this sound, despite the natural aging of her vocal cords.
@@JW-lr8sd Not really backhanded. A more mature voice isn't negative. They mean that Ariel is a teenage girl and with her mature voice it's difficult to sound like that.
@@AJ-TheGr8 A little over the top. She’s a voice actress and singer by profession by career. It’s her job. Skill, nurture, plus nature. Didn’t need the lengthy expo on your expansive knowledge on vocals. 😂
aguiremedia they know but since it’s been 31 years since the movie came out, VAs don’t usually keep their voices the same after that many years (take Belle’s VA, for example. She doesn’t sound anything like before, even though the movie came out years after the little mermaid)
The bride recognized Jodi as soon as she walked in and everyone else was like 🤔🤔🤔, but when she was announced everyone went 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻, that’s the best wedding gift!!! If I ever get married, I want Lebo M to sing Circle of Life!
The fact that the bride sing all the words of this song with Jodi made it 10 times more special since you could tell that movie really meant a lot to her
Omg I love how the bride basically turned into a little girl as soon as Jodi started singing. She just lights up like she's seeing her childhood idol ❤
I am in tears. This is a dad's reflection on what his daughter was to him while honouring what she is becoming all in one. Having kids is a trip honestly...so much life, love and letting go.
Disney should go back to casting less known voice actors than the current celebrities they use today. They chose voices that better fit the character and story. Robin Williams is/was the exception. That was a genius casting choice.
I was about to say the same thing. Robin Williams being cast in Aladdin, and them exploiting him every chance they could against his will, and his contract, is the reason they cast celebrities instead of voice actors. Disney made record money backstabbing him. Robin Williams was so outraged by how they betrayed him when he played that role. They knew his only condition to signing on to the movie was that he wanted them to sell the movie, and not him; to keep the reason he was doing the role to begin with pure. (He wanted to have a fun movie to share with his children.) Long story short, Robin told disney they were despicable, disney said they didnt think hed take being exploited for profit so hard, Robin basically said f u, and walked. Thats why the dude that plays Homer Simpson was Genie in the second movie, that they barely put time into animating properly, before they promptly threw that crap straight to vhs and dvd. Because disney selling out Robin that hard after conning him to do the part with lies, Disney lost him, lost his respect, and it cost them a lot to win him back for the third installment of the series. Which disney didnt mind, because they made a ton on him the first time.
It really was a tragedy that we lost Howard Ashman. The work he did for, “The Little Mermaid” is so impactful. Even after 33 years I still get chills and get emotional over the soundtrack.
Damn, she sounds just like the recorded version, thats crazy. Live performances always sound different from the recording but this is spot on, her voice didn't change at all
I cried watching the bride and her dad. I lost my dad 6 years ago and I know I won’t have a moment like this. Little mermaid was the first movie he took us to see in a theater. You can see how much this dad pours his heart into family. It’s not even about the “cost” it’s really about a man giving to his daughter a memory that they will always share. So heartwarming ❤
Honestly if I was the bride, I probably would have a broke down crying and would have had a mental break down. Just thinking about the ending of my childhood coming into a new chapter of life, getting married, and soon having children of own. My childhood only to remain in distant memories....
YES. Quite frankly, I don't know if I'd even want a surprise like this at my wedding. It's too emotionally overwhelming, and I feel like I'd forget many other precious moments that day because this would instantly be the most memorable. My wedding day would be remembered not as the day I said my vows and celebrated my union, but "the day Jodi Benson sang for me". No disrespect to Jodi, but I don't need to relive my childhood and start crying hysterically at my wedding.
I had the honor of meeting her at a convention shortly before Christmas last year, and she couldn't have been nicer. Definitely a class act. More celebrities should take a cue from her.
Or... ya know... just rich... he's no better than any of our dad's.. my dad doesn't have 50 grand to give to a wedding performer is all... cutting a check doesn't make you a great person.... but he did seem nice
43 year old man here and this is THE Disney song that gets me..........every time I hear it I get warped back to the movie theater with my Mom as we watched it..... hits me right in the feels
Hey there! I came across your comment and I just had to reach out and say hi. Your perspective really caught my attention and I would love to get to know you better. Would you be interested in chatting sometime? Looking forward to hearing back from you!
His excitement was faaaake AF. He had no clue who she was. To be fair though you have to be a pretty hardcore fan of something to recognize a voice actor as soon as they walk in a room so.
Devin Likes Memez its actually not exactly the same, its quite far from it, are we even listening to the same video? Lol ahha but she do still sound beautiful
Yeah, it isn't the same. You can tell at the beginning that she is trying to sound younger so that she can sound more like Ariel but eventually stops and sometimes switches back in again. Still beautiful
It really is great to see the voice actor of Ariel herself, Jodie Benson. Jodie's voice definitely puts everyone in the mood and it's great to go back in time 😊
I was at the wedding. Jodi is a very close personal friend of mine and she did it for FREE. Krysten was absolutely blown away and she will remember this moment for the rest of her life. Don't always assume everything is about money!
Didn't she just do that RU-vid ad where everyone singing this song? I thought she was the lady in the office, but she had glasses on, so I'm not sure if that's her or not ...
Watching the bride transform back into a little girl listening to someone she clearly idolizes just brings a tear to my eyes. I love seeing her unabashed excitement for purely being in the presence of a woman who played a voice in a Disney movie. I love watching her not only sing along but act out the song as well. That husband is a lucky man
Princesses do exist in the real world. So touching to watch bring me back to when I had my daughter bought this movie and watched it with her when she was only 11 months old.
@@leinpacheco5365 ACTUALLY, my first thought was WOW this is EXPENSIVE. I think youre just negative & trying to make me seem like an ass when I was literally thinking this lady is worth a lot NOT a little so it added to how lovely gift.
This song also means a lot to me. I have sung this more than a thousand times in my life. And I was able to enter a university singing this song, as my major is contemporary commercial music- vocal. I would sing this at my wedding someday, and yeah, as long as I'm alive, no matter how I get old, I would sing this song too. So this video makes me emotional. I love this live version so much.
Chanel Cupcake at the end of the VHS they played her singing the song on the beach . like actually her. so if u watched her as a kid u knew what she looks like
And how the husband was like "I have no idea who that woman is but my wife is suddenly really happy so it must be good so I'm gonna act like I'm suddenly really happy too"
well, i doubt she could've picked her out of a crowd before that day. when she said her fave was the little mermaid and her dad said "ok" and walked out with a redhead, who else was she going to think it was? "ooh, maybe it's the voice actor for sebastian"! please.
This woman has kind of a special power to instantly make people happy by bringing the back to a happy feeling of their childhoods. With great power comes great responsibility.
Six Hand Spice Well the Live Action Mulan film will not have any of the following: No Shang, No Mushu, None of the songs, Mulan wlll be fighting a witch because there won’t be any Huns, Also there is going to be a new character in the army that doesn’t like her male persona, but once he finds out that he is actually a she then he likes her! I already had no plans to see this “movie” now I reaffirm my statement and I am trying to let everyone know as well! Oh and the remake of Lion King will not have the villain song “Be Prepared”!
I mean to be fair she sees her now husband like every day all the time. How often do you have the ACTUAL little mermaid performing right in front of you? Hahaha
I started crying and couldn't stop, the divine voice of Jody, an amazing surprise for the bride! It's incredible! I cried the whole video. I'm from Russia, I'm 35 years old, I adored the Little Mermaid all my childhood, all my life. The bride will remember this surprise for a lifetime. I wish you all happiness!!!
@@disneyrules7808 I'm laughing of what Pasan H said😂😂😂😂😂because imagine if she said that her favourite movie was Frozen or any disney movie. That would have been so akward and funny😂😂😂
if Jodi Benson walked into my wedding i would have immediately known who she was too. I stan TLM and Ariel/Jodi as much as she does and i was tearing up alongside her. As such a devoted fan myself, I definitely empathized with the amount of JOY she was feeling in that moment. What a special gift Jodi was able to bring her! ❤❤❤
jeroen janssen that’s weird coz I’m the same! Me & my great grandma & other cousins in 1996 as well. We watched it few times until she was no longer afraid of little mermaid’s big eyes & before she passed away. Bless her.
Forget the video bringing me to tears, this comment did it. Saw this twice in the theater with my grandma and grandpa when it first came out. Grandpa passed in 2002, grandma passed in 2005. Such a great memory I always think of when I see the title =)
What a great performance! This song is incredibly hard to perform. The fact that she still remembers how to do it so faithfully is amazing. And, I have to say, she will always be Ariel, no matter how many times Disney tries to remake it.
I love how she’s just so shocked and keeps looking around for people to be shocked like “It’s Jodi Bensons?! Holy shit guys it’s Jodi Benson!” but everyone’s just like “Who is this?...”
I think the bride's siblings and parents knew exactly who Jodi was and she was looking at them for their reactions. It was just the other wedding guests confused lol
I just came across this and I was in tears. Jodi hasn't lost the passion she put into Ariel after all this time. She's even done an amazing job of keeping the ability to sound so young and almost exactly the same as the original performance. Watching her perform and watching the bride react was beautiful beyond words. 🥲
I can't...I literally cannot get through this without crying. The groom knew the significance and the bride was amazed....This was a once in a lifetime moment
