That's not the case if you decided with natural, dirted aquarium like Father Fish style.

Probably true, but I‘m happy I didn’t. I like this way of doing aquariums way more

with those prices newcomers might be relucted to start a planted tank, but maybe they also can find good prices on social media.

Might be, yes, although as you said, there are always possibilities to save money. One thing that happened to me a lot of times is that I planned a project and thought I know how much I‘ll spend. But I always ended up spending way more than I anticipated, which is why I made this video.

As a new person who just got into this I found a bunch of stuff second hand and did my own river scape. I spent maybe 100$ total on everything.

Subbed btw. Very informative. Looking at a rimless 10 gal on Amazon to upgrade my current system.

Wow, my 54 liter setup cost only 80 euros, taking into account the aquarium, gravel, air pump, sponge filter, thermostat and water pump for the UGF. Admittedly, it is a fish only setup for guppies, its is of chinese quality :) and I am from a third world country, but still wow, your setup seems expensive.

Hi, interesting to hear! I also started with an All-In-One set, and my setups now are that expensive because I have a lot of advanced equipment and pay a lot of attention to the design (aquascaping). It’s absolutely not necessary to spend that much for aquariums of this size, just a question of what you want to do. May I ask you where you are from? Would be interesting to hear :)

@@passion4aqua It wasn't an All-In-One set, as they are more expensive and you have less freedom to customize everything to create a system that works for you. (A lot of cheap All-In-One set had awful design decisions, like a light bulb that sits too close to the water and it is not protected from corrosion) It wasn't my first aquarium so I spend 2 or 3 months finding the cheapest but durable things that I could find. At this moment, 2 years after setup nothing has broke, but I also took care of buying things to prevent problems, like using a check valve in the air pump, and undersizing the aquarium heather to not fry my fish in case of failure (guppies don't need very warm water so there wasn't a need of a big powerful heather). I am from Guatemala a small country in the south of Mexico. I understand that with an aquascape the prices would go up very fast as I have seen expensive setups in my country, but as much as I love aquarium plants I prefer fish only system to reduce costs and maintenance time. My only plants are pothos with the roots submersed. Good luck with your RU-vid channel!

Looks like you did great research! I am also a fan of planing projects long term… I was able to get a lot of the things I have for a decent price because I planned the respective project for months, and whenever I encountered a great deal, I took it! Nice to have someone from Guatemala in the community! All the best for you and your tank!

@@jorgeavalos816Seems like you have a lot of knowledge and passion for the amazing world of fishkeeping ! I don't care for the majority of AIO aquariums from a lot of Companies are not willing to learn from others ,and their ideas for after market fix's or just innovative products for a better system. However I think that is about to change and the UNS all in 1 has me saving for the future and I don't even know how much it is but they have thought about the design in a way that actually will work for many years and there's a lot of add on sold separately which is nice

Great comment and I absolutely agree with you! One problem with the „standard“ AIO beginner sets also is that they set unrealistic experiences for an uninformed beginner, especially if you want to keep some plants! Usually they print a beautiful Aquascape on the package and don’t mention that something like this is almost impossible with the equipment in the set! I have not tried UNS products yet but I am convinced that they do a great job, especially from a design perspective!
