The Real Problem with Forza Motorsport... 

Unfortunately we live in an era of gaming where devs are like "yeah we'll add that mode or content in later updates". It's becoming frustratingly common for games to release like that. It's kind of understandable considering game development went from 2-3 years to 3-5 years, so devs are really under pressure to get the game out ASAP.

I wish people would have the same "angst" with the upcoming 70 buck MW3 DLC as they have with this FM. 2 year life cycle huh.

Sim racing games in general don’t focus on single-player enough. Multiplayer is definitely sticky and good for the business, but a lot of people buy games for single-player, so they really need to make that worthwhile, and design a bridge from single-player to multiplayer. As a side note, I think the CaRPG leveling system isn’t bad (in concept) but the fact that every instance of a car needs to be leveled manually, and the Builder’s Cup essentially resets the progression is what kills it. A couple tweaks here and there and the feel of the progression could be totally different.

My biggest disappointment is that you need to be connected to internet to have access to almost everything, thats a bad trend that many games are following.

The game is fun and the racing is pretty clean for the most part but that’s when it works…. The game has so many bugs that need to be fixed. It randomly crashes mid lap, sometimes you get stuck on the applying tune screen, and then there’s the weird camera angle glitch that sends it into orbit and then pretty much ends your race.

All the people complaining about practice are ironically the people who need it the most.

The game just stucks at a loading screen after I do an upgrade to a car. I LOVE LOADING SCREENS I LOVE THEM I LOVE ALT F4'ING THEM AND THEN REPEATING THE SAME PROCCESS TILL IT GETS TO A HALT I LOVE LOADING SCREENS

I think looking at the list of reported problems on the Forza support page for this game should tell you what the real problem with Forza Motorsport is. It's not even close to a finished product.

The fact there are lmp2 and formula 1 cars in A class due to bugs/glitches is troubling.

We live in an era where single player focused racing game doesn't exist anymore. It's all about the multiplayer, and I don't think we as a community is actually sending out the correct message to help developer fixing that. I even remember a few years ago, when Theo is talking about what he want for the next NFS game, he put A LOT of emphasis on the multiplayer, and said sth along the line of that's what most people care about. If these are the comments we make, I don't think we can blame developers entirely for the lack of progression :/

Playing it on PC, XBOX live purchase. Had none of the issues you show, I'd say this can be on your end. I love this game.

Essentially all the problems TLDR (add to it if I missed anything): 1 - Always online trash - why Turn 10, why? Literally not that good. 2 - Long loading times - like takes a good minute to load a race, perhaps as much as 2 mins 3 - Terrain doesn't always load in, and when it does load in, another area fails to load in 4 - Sometimes it takes forever to apply upgrades between races - like I had to wait 2 mins and it still did nothing twice so far, so had to redo it as needed to close game 5 - Car progression - why not have everything unlocked from the get go, but allow you to level your car and upgrade in any order you want

The Multiplayer has been so fun for me. Best way to play it is to Try get a Really good (non dirty time) in practice and then try get your best time on qualifying is the best way to have fun with the first 2 bits the Racing itself is still a bit fooked with the Penelty with pushing and somehow getting peneltys when you arnt really suppost to because of someone else Either way the Corner Turning score i love and seeing how fast i can go round on a Map like Maple Valley in GT3 will were you find the most fun

Theo, the bugs DO break the game. I've had the game crash on me fairly frequently. The performance is absolutely terrible. The overall polish is bad too. My question is what did they spend an extra 3-4 years doing? It wasnt the car list with LESS cars than FM7 and FH5. It wasn't the track list with LESS tracks fhan FM7. It wasn't the graphics becauze the game looks WORSE than FH5. It's not the optimization because my 3080 struggles to get 26fps at max graphics on a 1440p monitor. They took out features FH5 and FM7 had. What did they do? FH4 released and died within the time frame of FM8's development. This game is more disappointing than GT7 by a long shot. Didnt even add VR support on PC in 2023. If T10 gets another game, I'd be surprised.

Ive played over 10 hours and had zero bugs or issues on my PC. Just saying this is not the experience of everyone. I'm loving the game so far.

Really should be able to have a coop career mode. Or even create a private multiplayer race with ai. Feature they had in 6 but removed from then on. It would really help introduce new friends to the game

The racing seems genuinely fun, but all the missing content and the padding of play time with the car upgrade system really put me off from picking it up. Also while im not a huge stickler for graphics (I love me a good retro styled or stylistic game with fun mechanics over a pretty tech demo) Turn 10 always talks about how they've improved graphics SO MUCH over their previous games, and how everything is built from the ground up! Meanwhile they still have models from 2007 and lighting that genuinely looks worse than previous generations, not to mention that forza aero hasnt changed in over 10 years... I'm not giving this company any more of my money. I may try this game on gamepass once the bugs are fixed, but it wont be along term game for me

Well honestly it just needs a lot of honing of rough edges.. but it has potential

Playing on the Xbox series x, I didn't have any issues besides a little shadow glitch. I have to commend the game because it's ushering in a new engine and a new feel. The physics are flawless to my experience so far. We'll definitely get back a lot of features in the future, but for right now, I believe the developers are taking it slow, making sure they develop a game that is not just alright, but good. That actually gives me a lot of relief cuz I've played countless hours of horizon 3, 4 and 5 and they just seem, meh in comparison and we've all seen plenty of mistakes that PG has made because of rushed development. Right now, we just need to portray some patience, the things we want will come in time.

My issue with the game is the fact that you try to modify or buy a new car between races and the data doesnt save, you get left on an infinite saving screen and are forced to close the game Then you reload and have lost the mods youve just done or car youve bought, and lost progress on races youve already done Thats whats making the game hard to play

I feel like they released this way before it was ready to. It wasn’t necessarily rushed, but it was released before it was finished for sure.

There’s no way this took 6 years what happened was the original built from the ground up title was scrapped 3 to 5 years in development and the current forza we have was slapped together in no more than 2 years to a year

Half the problems can be solved with good weed, the fact still stands that I feel you should grind out the career mode then go to multiplayer

I have a list of 10 things I think would improve this game other than the obvious continuous support an updates as long as it doesn’t turn into a Horisont where if you miss a specific time limit you can’t get the car for that week Forza motorsports improvements 1. The new hood and rear bumper Forza aero needs to be applied to all cars in the game 2. All Cars need wheel spacers, especially if they have a widebody 3. Lexus LFA exhaust tip missing bug 4. Need showcase style events like in Forza motorsport six like the Bondurant autocross, factory spec racing, endurance racing, high speed chase, moments in motorsports, top Gear stig, track they shootout, passing challenge, race driver experience, top Gear showcase 5. Needs more story mode races that fit into the builders cup, taking a vantage of the different car divisions currently featured in the game that aren’t already featured as a part of the builders cup already(I don’t wanna be forced to play multiplayer or use FreePlay to drive my favourite cars because they’re not featured in the story mode) 6. More race tracks like the Bernese alps, circuit de Prague, Rio de Janeiro top Gear circuits full NurembergRing? 7. Audio improvements or general overhaul, race cars need to be louder, better audio quality, more accurate engine sounds, more sound echoing off the surrounding landscape and buildings 8. Overall improvement of Visual quality of custom liveries plus less grainy photo of the livery 9. And stop adding new car brands into the game until we can fill out the card list with the missing cars from each brand currently featured in the game(Lexus LFA - Nürburgring, every generation Mitsubishi Evo, and Subaru wrs sti, plus the waggon versions of each car the evo and sti for example) that way the developers don’t have to spend a lot of money getting new licensing deals for brands they don’t already have in the game they can just spend their money sending the developers out to certain companies to scan the cars that are missing. 10. The ability to start and rev your engine in the view, car section where you can walk around the end get in your car and open the hood and trunk

This game doesn’t even compare to Forza Motorsport 5 anymore. This is the new low bar for Forza and it’s sad that it has come to this

Game has been great for me, except, has anyone had the issue where they finish a championship or series, get offline for the day, log back on, and none of the progress has saved? Also, some loading screens when applying a decal or upgrade won’t finish causing you to restart the game?

For me its biggest sin is not having the Nordschliefe at launch.

The racing itself is satisfying to me at least, especially in practice races when you’re trying to better your times in the segments, it’s the buying the car and I got 250k credits and I can’t use any of it to upgrade my cars feels so bad because you gotta level up each car

You CAN skip practice. You press Start > Exit > Skip practice.

I tried it and had connection issues and then when I finally got in it finished the race as I went past the finish line. I did a 3 lap race in 6 seconds...

Online racing has been a blast seems like its just cool to bash it although im on series X and its run almost flawless id say 8/10 with only one game crash on day one

I’ve been having fun with the game, but I have no idea why turn 10 doesn’t have an actual Motorsport car career tour. Also, why did the get rid of the nascar stock cars and Indy cars? They have tracks for those cars, why not the actual cars?

And thats why I was thinking that won't be that good because they focused mainly in graphics than even the game in general

I've personally never encountered any these bugs on the series s. Maybe apart from graphics not loading sometimes or cinematic being a bit buggy but that's it.

My biggest disappointment with this game has been the amount and veriety of the content on offer to start. My assumption is that the priority for now will be bug fixes (been experiencing crashes o`plenty between races myself, and have been noticing wierd pop in from time to time), but I hope they do add back in features like drag and drift events, and I would like to see the intruduction of challanges (kind of like gt`s missions), that would add alot to the game

It’s actually mind numbing and bores me after 20 mins. As a tinkerer that likes doing custom races and using my own tunes and spec. Having to complete races just to start by upgrading an air filter are painful. I don’t want to feel like I have to earn things when I have paid for the game and the extras !!!

My game has only crashed once on my series X. All the crashing and bugs I have seen seem to be on pc

Yeah i agree, With forza games compared to The Crew. My biggest issue was always the lack of content. Weekly competitions, Leaderboards with rewards, variety of events, Collectables, Cool profiles with stats. And i can keep thinking of features that step by step give you more stuff to work towards. I think it's very important for a longevity of a game to have progression systems and the stuff i named to keep players busy and coming back to the game.

I guess I’ve been lucky my game has been flawless I’m playing through the Microsoft store and haven’t had any issues. Minor graphic bugs here and there but I’ve heard people on steam having an absolute nightmare of a game

From the grounds up was a total lie. They use old car models 2012 sometimes and the graphics are much poorer than FH5. It looks quite awful tbh.

Practice doesn't set your position and, you can skip it after it starts. The real problem is you can finish the game in two days.

2:10 remember back in gran turismo 2's licenses where they just threw you into the track no countdowns no nothing?

The menus are also set up so they can add more in the future. So they don't need to change around too much. I'd say over the 6 months. You will find there would of been events available in some way for most cars.

No ive had that connection issue too its nothing to do with your internet just another of the games weird bugs, i just had to leave the game for an hour and it worked again. That black screen after practice also happens at the same time as that server connection bs.

The PC port is atrocious. Gave it a quick go and oh dear is it single thread limited. PC ports have recently struggled with CPU limited performance. We don't need another low performer. The fact that Alex from Digital Foundry got marginally improved performance on an i9-12900K by only using six P-cores without hyperthreading is embarrassing. This is exactly the sort of poor performance scaling we see on cross-gen UE4 games like Jedi survivor and Redfall. Ray tracing only makes the game more CPU limited. Don't touch ray tracing if you're running the game on slightly older systems.

Honestly the only bug I had on console was the loading screen , I feel like most of the bugs have been on pc

I don't have many complaints with the game really. the physics are taking a little while to get used to, I feel like I can't drive as far round bends as I would have in previous titles and the understeer is borderline excessive. I havent tried it with my wheel yet, so im hoping that's a bit better. the upgrade system which I thought I was gonna hate, I actually quite like, you really notice a difference each time you upgrade a part, rather than buying a car and maxing it out instantly. you really get to watch lap times fall and cornering speeds rise. I think the best word for this game is "controversial" overall. not necessarily bad or good, just controversial.

But one sticks out in mind in particular. *insert a slow fade in of the Asphalt 9 splash screen* (Technically it’s Buying AND upgrading for A9 but I left it out for the bit)

On my 12 Gen i9 , 3080Ti, 32GB RAM system I had a lot of issues with textures, parts of the track vanishing etc and other issues. but no crashes. They released an update that fixed a few things including a lot of crashes. I still have issues with the track disappearing in parts.. Also, since the update, I have tried multiplayer and after practice and qualifying the game crashes going to the race about 30% of the time. Which apparently is a common issue. A bit frustrating waiting up to 20 minutes to then get a crash.

My biggest issue woth Forza Motorsport 2023,(besides the soft locks on upgrade screen causing me to repeatedly lose race progress) is that this game ultimately feels like a demo. The physics are great, i enjoy the feel of the game, but it feels so shallow. The career is extremely limited, no LMP or GT races in a Motorsport is unacceptable. 6 years of waiting for a pretty demo that still has issues fans have complained about for years like the ugly Forza aero, or some of the engine sounds being way off, or outdated car models. Also 21 tracks at launch is also ridiculous, especially in comparison to previous Motorsports. Then the lack of Drag or Drift modes, no party modes, and no test track or airfield track. I know they are adding tracks, features, and cars as the game progresses, but its ridiculous to have to wait 3 years after launch for a major flagship AAA game to be what ot should have been at launch, im looking at you Halo Infinite. Ultimately Forza's launch is eerily similar to Halo Infinite, tons of hype, great game mechanics, but no content, removed features, bugs and glitchs, and many more issues that are probably going to take several years to correct. I love Forza Motorsport, even though im disappointed with what it should have been, what we got is still enjoyable. Forza may not deserve some of those 8 or 9/10 scores, but in three years it be worthy of those scores, but in its current state i have to give it a 6.5/10

Also the car sounds in fm5 are alot more lively than the sounds in fm8.

You should of showed off the ranked system and push for a fix. I’m new to sim racing, and I’m top rankings at 4,688 / 5,000 with an S safety rating. If anything it feels like “good boy!” Rather than an actual rank. I feel like I’m being complimented when I shouldn’t be.

Whats worse is the servers for this game close in 3/4 years

I do hope that Microsoft does eventually add modes like drag racing, drifting, and some of missing features to from previous games to Forza Motorsports 8. It was just fun modding your cars with your friends for bragging rights. Like my friends and I would have challenges like who could make the fastest American muscle car or modern hot hatches at a certain budget.

2 major issues, you could in recent releases remove the rewind feature, which kills the game, also the sound of cars hitting each other is a complete joke. Fix the crash update and you have a pretty good racer that leaves Gt7 gathering dust.

I really like playing this game when listening to podcasts. For some reason this is my first Motorsport game that I'm actually playing longer than 5 hours. But I would not pay full price for it. For now this game is perfect for Gamepass

I can't build cars for friends to race with untill they grind for a few hours. Its just dumb, even lowering the unlock levels they still need to grinf for ages to get enough credits for the parts.

I love the new forza. they nailed mp. cleanest driving i've ever experienced. be nice to have some spacers for my m3 though

they need to update the penalty system and make it more strict like grand turismo. people are still ramming and driving reckless in online races and getting away with no penalties.

Problems: incomplete on disk defeats preservation, already paywalls dlc, always online (yes gt7 have it too so fm should get the same roar). Progression

I am actually enjoying it so far. Playing on series x and have had zero issues so far. Game mechanics are unique and feel great in my opinion

As every playlist has a limit on how fast your car can be there is no point in max levelling vehicles

Another definition of "great idea, bad execution" I don't hate Forza horizon/Motorsport but they always seem to remove content just to add it later and say its new to get people back to the game and to me that just doesn't seem right. Paying X amount of money for recycled or removed features? Is this the path they're really taking?

On the series X the quick resume feature does not work, everytime i used it i have to re-load the entire game...

Was a gt fan but I felt t10 took their crown with Forza 4. After that it’s been one step forward and two steps backwards with 5, 6 and 7. Each release became less fun and just as stale as GT. This new game is flawed but it does feel like their best effort for some time. If it’s that they plan to just keep updating the game vs making a new one every cpu years there’s a chance this could be special

The only issues I've ran into so far with it are lost frames and crashes. Other than that, it's been good fun for what it is.

ive managed to be able to play the game today after installing it and deleted my cloud data and Was stuck in the builders cup intro bug where it keeps u in an invite loop of the last track, but I restarted the cup for the 4th time and some how managed to get to the main menu on the car selection by spacing B. on my controller. I played the game for a good few hours and for my first Forza motorsports game or proper sim racing game, its so good. The driving feels so amazing, I feel like im really driving yk with how precise you can control how much u accelerate and ur braking. on controller the games really good, I might change up my settings for my analog since I do want to do more precise turning. I played a bit of multiplayer and people are good at this game, it's fun and it feels rewarding when you set a new lap time thats faster than ur previous highest. Hopefully they will fix all the bugs such as the one I had, so I can play careers without fearing of it happening again, and then add more modes like drifting competitions too, and other type of car motorsports, then this game will be really really good. At the moment its okay, due to the amount of bugs to fun level but that will change the more u play, without any change of game mode as repetition is a problem in this game with id say the practice laps and all but they aren't forced. good game

Can we get the purpose built mazda indy cars out of A class please? The actual racing in this game is 9/10. A clean 24 car race is one of the best multiplayer experiences you can get in gaming imo.

You can skip practice laps by pressing start, not recommended as your car doesn’t level up enough to get the upgrades needed for later races, always worth grinding the 2/3 laps for the car xp

Pants my man, you should do the same video for The Crew Motorfest, not to say it may be even worse that this one. The Crew Motorfest is basically the same game as The Crew 2, it even has the same bugs like the brake calliper painting! The same cars plus a few new ones, the menus are exactly the same but in motorfest they are more simple just two colors, in the crew 2 they were at least more colorfull. The map is A LOT smaller hence the illusion that there are more stuff to do, the multiplayer is just two mods. You lack any kind of story besides from an intro cinematic. You don't have a house. It's the same game as Crew 2 but with a lot of things taken out of it and just polished graphics! It's a shame as it is one of my all time favorite racing franchises but they too have fallen to Ubi's greed and "give them less for the same money the idiots will pay for it" attitude!

my only real issue that I have noticed is the out dated car models. I was thinking that when I drove a v8 supercar that it would be THIS years car models which look awesome, but instead they offer 2017 V8 supercar models, that was a colossal disappointment to me. Outside of that, I haven't had any connectivity issues.

No fujimi kaideo and no rally Di positano. No drift or other alt modes. The things that made 3 and 4 peaks of simcade racing. Also I think that they went too far with the "progression" by having both the car points AND having parts locked behind level requirements. Was using a 350z and felt I needed some rear aero which I had spare car points for, but had to level the car up more to unlock it. So had to drive worse for a few races before I could get what I felt I needed after one practice lap. I quite like having car points for upgrades tied to level, but it isn't really "building a car" when it's like here's 200 cp and here are 200cp worth of potential parts to upgrade your car with. More like forced upgrades with no choice.

Honestly as long as the game feels good to race, I've never really cared about the career on these games (aside from FM4) I just like to set up offline endurance races against the most difficult drivatar settings at a high lap count and at least 1 pit.... and just get lost in the race. I can do that for hours. Love Forza Motorsport games.

Bro, nobody mentioned this too but, check out the Spoiler when you are going fast... It doesnt move or flex in the wind like fm7 anymore, MAJOR FLOP, only 3 Acura models, crappy civic model, muffled car sounds. But its "ground up"
