To my mind, you've missed out what is arguably the ISD's greatest virtue: it's an all-in-one expeditionary force. It carries a complement of nearly 10,000 Stromtroopers, can provide them with their own armour and air-support, and has the supplies to keep them in the field for up to two years if necessary. In the event of interdiction by enemy space-forces, it carries enough turbolasers to maintain orbital superiority against anything short of another capital-ship. In a fight like the Clone Wars, the Imperial-class' lack of focus would have been a defect, leaving it unable to deal with capital ships with a more tightly-defined role. In a fight like the Rebellion, where the enemy has few capital ships of their own, it's a logistical asset, allowing for the Imperial brass to send an Imperial-class to a trouble-spot, rather than spending the time and resources assembling, organising and equipping a taskforce to do the job of an Imperial-class.

@@stephenwood6663 honestly if I were tasked with leading the Imperial fleet my way. I would devote time to star destroyers and creat smaller lighter ships designed for quick rapid deplyoments in smaller but centralized task forces. If I kept the Star Destroyer it would we be at the center of kind of the MEU or Marine Expeditionary Amphibious fleets are now but it would not be alone it would be supported by fleet logistics ship designed to carry the sustainment forces such as supply, medical and transport for extended groundside combat. I would overall reduce the fleet of star destroyers by half if not 2/3rds because when you talking about polcing systems you need to be everywhere no excuses so that being said majorityy of the fleet needs to be smaller flexible warships with Star Destroyers acting only as planetary Hotspot response and not particularly designed for space combat but rather ground force support and only for sustained expeditionary takfroce center. Honestly I would have kept the Venator because you need carirers they provide that valuable force multiplying apsect you need in various ways.

@@stephenwood6663 its too big. Ships are only big when you abosolutely have to. Like carriers the reason why they are big say like the Nimitz class super carrier and America Class Amphibious carrier is because they are carrier they are meant to carry alot of aircraft and not the just the aircraft, the maintenance crews or AIMD, fuel, weapons, and food and medical supplies. Especially if I'm using manned aircraft you got think food and medicine and yes even places for recreation MWR is huge deal to consider when deployed for extended periods. Even types of aircraft effect the size of and shape of your ship because it will effect where the size and capabilites of maintenance facilities. Being a carrier is a full time not something with being a battleship both are highly specialized roles that make the all in one type of ship rather comical alot of times I know the Navy orginally tried to consider a battle carrier post WW2 but it really didn't make sense why would want your carriers as front line combatants its stupid.

The primary purpose and design of the Imperial Class Star Destroyer, was for it to be a mobile forward operating base. everything you needed to lock down and subjugate a star system all on it's own: Ships crew, navy troopers, storm troopers, imperial army including walkers, star fighters everything. An ISD is an entire Imperial Garrison, with engines and a hyperdrive.

ehsnils But Venator seems to fit in this role much better. Five times more aircrafts including bombers, extremely effective LAATes, and huge amount of AT-TE walkers. Basically Venator was exactly a ship for large scale, long lasting war, and ISD is more like an unstoppable force to smash enemy’s formations and make them run in fear, yeah it is not very efficient to win a war, but good enough to terrify rebels.

In Palpatine's defense, anyone that rules a country will try to rule in the manner that they find appealing. And that is especially true when that ruler has strong political, cultural, and religious beliefs. A person's belief system translates into how they rule when they are in power. That person will try to push his ideology onto his subjects, as if making his nation an expression of his ideology will make it any more right than others. A monarchist leading a democracy will naturally push his monarchist beliefs on his government, as much as the opposite is true for a monarch who believes in democracy. A religious ruler will push religion into his government, and so on. That's why Palpatine liked the Tarkin Doctrine. It meshed well with his Sith philosophy. Even unconsciously, if Palpatine liked the Tarkin Doctrine, he would have thought "well, that's pretty much how I would like to rule. So it MUST be the right way to rule." And it's like Alan said. Palpatine wasn't a military man. He wasn't a general, or a military strategist. He might not have known what fighter-capacity meant, or point-defense. He probably didn't know or care what these details were. He was a politician who wanted to be on top. He probably didn't know the difference between a destroyer, or cruiser, or carrier. To him, it probably didn't matter. All he could tell was that it was a big ship with lots of guns and thought "ooh, I don't know how my enemies could ever stop that!"

ISD Design improvements TL:DR more point defense, _the bridge…the bridge…,_ surface sensors, remove trench runs, rear missile launchers for quick firepower, main long range gun is single ion cannon in ball mount on nose that can also do planetary bombardment, tractor beams on all arcs to stop fleeing ships and hold enemy ships in place for kill shot, and of course secondary shield emitters. Well first off, the obvious improvement for any design besides the obvious point defense and secondary bridge would be close in sensors, known as the *NEEDA* upgrade. Not only would they detect ships sticking to the hull, but little sabotage droids as well, that could be dropped by a passing civilian ship. And it would help the point defense guns target fighters skimming the surface. In that vane, getting rid of the trenches on the ship that provide cover to enemy fighters would be a massive boost to its anti fighter capabilities and survival, as well as optimising the firing arcs of the point defense guns. And that wouldn't increase power demands, it just requires landscaping - of course all those windows in the city scapes loose their views so the _real estate value of an ISD_ does decrease. For rear defense, against larger ships (corvettes, frigates) have a turbolaser battery or two, but mostly use missile and torpedo launchers, they wouldn't take from the reactor's limited resources and could dump a lot of ordinance in a short amount of time to hit hard and disable the enemy ship quick. Since it wouldn't be a common occurrence, the missile stocks wouldn't have to be huge (and spares for the heavy fighters could be kept there to be transferred later if needed). The missiles should mostly include ion warheads to disable the enemy ship so the ISD can manoeuvre to either main gun it or capture it, some concussion missiles, and some area anti fighter missiles. The rest of the rear defense should be laser cannons as fighters will try to swarm there and take torpedo shots, and maybe a few tractor beam emitters to hold small ships that try to flee by running to the rear, or to keep really maneuverable fighters still for a kill shot. Basically if a turbolaser heavy capital ship was allowed to get to the rear quarter, the captain of the ISD will be answering to the head of HR - _Lord Vader._ As for the heavy batteries on the front, replacing some with a massive ion cannon would be most suitable. They can have long range, as demonstrated by the Rebels on Hoth, and are most suitable for stopping a fleeing ship, as blowing away any ship that doesn't immediately respond can sometimes be counterproductive, especially from an investigative perspective, as it prevents boarding actions and taking prisoners. And besides, if the captain of the ISD is not sure, ion weaponry gives them the option to go no harm, no foul, afterwards. And as the battle of Scarif showed, disabling enemy ships can be very effective in pitched battle, it also eliminates the capacity for return fire and makes it a sitting duck for your other cannons and fighters. For the mounting of the ion cannon, a single cannon in a ball turret on the point of the ships nose provides the best firing arc (as it can cover either side and top and bottom, useful even for close in battles and broadsides), and using a larger single cannon rather than smaller ones increases the range - if it's able to target the surface of a planet from orbit that opens up a great deal of enforcement options as well… Disable a ground target before landing troops, neutralise defenses, wear down installation shields, and most importantly, warning shots. Populace getting unruly, take out the power grid for a while and it will scare the locals and remind them that they are at the mercy of the ISD, without causing widespread casualties that create martyrs and damage the planets facilities - they are still imperial citizens who should pay taxes. It even fits in with the Tarkin doctrine, having a ISD zap the power supply will leave them wondering if a Imperial assault force is about to land while they can't communicate or check sensors - heightening paranoia, are stormtroopers about to burst in (useful for a Imperial snatch and grab operation on a otherwise loyal town/city), is turbolaser fire about to obliterate them all, or was that the warning. And it allows the ISD to start small and escalate the punishment as circumstances require. Finally as hinted at before, more tractor beams, have enough positioned to be able to target all arcs, after all an ISD's main purpose is to enforce imperial order, not for pitched battles against a massive enemy amarda, because, well there isn't one. And besides, tractor beams do have a combat use in holding enemy ships still to target more efficiently and prevent them maneuvering. But it also holds modified freighters in place that otherwise can be just really annoying. And the power for the tractors won't be needed in a pitched battle so having them installed won't take away from the damage output, since it is power that restricts how many guns can be installed. Since apparently gravity well generators are too expensive (really, not even just a small one to prevent hit and run attacks and stop ships fleeing before inspection before you realise they're about to jump and can lock on tractors?) extra tractor beams will have to suffice. And final finally, secondary shield emitters. Seriously, take apart a Mon Calamari ship and reverse engineer it. But the single best upgrade any ISD could receive would be better screening and training for bridge officers, and maybe safety rails.

@wouterkessel4852 4 года назад
I would like to point out that in space, battleship doctrine is far less of a disadvantaged idea in comparison to aircraft carriers, as one of the main reasons behind the succes of aircraft carriers in comparison to battleships is the fact that the carrier can stay out of the battleships visual range while launcing waves of naval bombers and other aircraft at it meanwhile a large portion of battleships in ww2 didn't have efficient radar technology while the carriers have scout aircraft flying around doing reconnaisance missions and finding the enemies. In space unless your fighters have either FTL drives or your enemy is flying around in what is literally bricks with guns and life support with nothing else added, these advantages do not exist as shots will continue on in your direction the moment they are fired as there is no resistance and a ship the size of a carrier with space for enough fighters to actually take out a heavy cruiser/battleship cannot hope to move enough to fully dodge such volleys unless the ship firing at you does not have a basic fire control computing system, while the enemy will spot you just as quickly as you them no matter which ship you are in unless you are lying in wait in an ambush, in which case a battleship would actually have the advantage as it can just fire at you instead of needing its aircraft to get close to the enemy.

A updated Harrower would have been a better design. Even if enlarged to the same dimensions as a ISD. The front bays were a vulnerability against equally sized ships - but there weren't any.
@HolyknightVader999
@HolyknightVader999 4 года назад
Harrowers were good for their time, but they weren't as well-shielded or well-armed as an ISD. At most, they're like primitive Acclamator-class assault ships or Victory-class Star Destroyers.
@HolyknightVader999
@HolyknightVader999 4 года назад
@OriginalTharios On-screen..........which doesn't tell us everything. If we judged everything with just onscreen viewings, then Saiyan Saga Vegeta would be stronger than Majin Vegeta, since the former destroyed a planet with two fingers and the latter used all his energy to create an explosion that was barely even the size of a city. Despite the fact that the latter came years after the former. In the same vein, if we only judged things by what we see onscreen, then musket balls and conical bullets would be the same, despite the latter being wildly different when compared to the former.
@HolyknightVader999
@HolyknightVader999 4 года назад
@OriginalTharios Wrong again. Even in this mess known as Disney canon, appearances are deceiving. The new First Order Star Destroyers look as if they were merely souped-up versions of Star Destroyers, but their turbolasers are powered by more kyber crystals when compared to the original version. So while the untrained eye simply sees a larger Star Destroyer with more guns, the technical readout of the First Order's Star Destroyers makes them far more powerful. And in the old Expanded Universe canon (ie. the real canon), weapons tech improves all the time. The Leviathan from the Jedi Civil War has quad lasers look like turbolasers, but are nowhere near as strong as an Acclamator-class Assault Ship's guns. The former has guns that are at most, kiloton or megaton level, whereas the Acclamator has gigaton-level guns according to the tech manual for EPII. And of course, the True Sith Empire that created the Harrower-class Dreadnought is from the old Expanded Universe. So you can't bring the Harrower into this discussion without acknowledging the fact that the canon where it came from had turbolaser power exponentially growing throughout the millennia.
@HolyknightVader999
@HolyknightVader999 4 года назад
@OriginalTharios Actually, Lucas has said things to the contrary. At one point, he even stated that the novels, comics, and games all exist on the same galaxy that his movies do: "It wasn't long after I began writing Star Wars that I realized the story was more than a single film could hold. As the saga of the Skywalkers and Jedi Knights unfolded, I began to see it as a tale that could take nine films to tell-three trilogies-and I realized, in making my way through the back story and after story, that I was really setting out to write the middle story. After Star Wars was released, it became apparent that my story-however many films it took to tell-was only one of thousands that could be told about the characters who inhabit its galaxy. But these were not stories that I was destined to tell. Instead they would spring from the imagination of other writers, inspired by the glimpse of a galaxy that Star Wars provided. Today, it is an amazing, if unexpected legacy of Star Wars that so many gifted writers are contributing new stories to the Saga. This legacy began with Splinter of the Mind's Eye, published less than a year after the release of Star Wars. Written by Alan Dean Foster, a well-known and talented science-fiction author, Splinter was promoted as a further adventure of Luke Skywalker. It hit the bookstores just as I was preparing my own further adventure of Luke in the form of a script entitled The Empire Strikes Back.” George Lucas, intro to “Splinter of the Mind’s Eye” So yeah, that interview where he talks about parallel universes was just him talking about the production part to some news organization, whereas his official statement to the fans is that the EU and the movies take place in the same galaxy, and the movies are just a small part of a single Star Wars story. Also, if the Expanded Universe isn't canon, then neither is the Harrower-class dreadnought, because it comes from those pesky books and games that lie outside the so-called "canon" you people ascribe to. The cinematics and gameplay is about as canon as the very same novels you've been blasting as non-canon. There's plenty of comics and illustrations from SW media that show turbolasers glassing worlds. It's funny that you're using gameplay cutscenes, since those cutscenes are part of the same Expanded Universe that the novels you decry as non-canon came from. Also, the Disney canon counts both books and movies as canon. So when the tech manual for Episode VII says that the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer has kyber crystals in its turbolasers, then yes, those turbolasers that look like and fire like regular turbolasers from the OT are in fact, far more powerful. Also, the Incredible Cross-sections books are canon. They came with the movies as part of the movies' media release. They have nothing to do with the Expanded Universe; instead, they are companion pieces to the movies they share the name of. So the EPII Attack of the Clones ICS book that says that turbolasers are 200 gigatons is more canon than 99% of Star Wars combined, only equaled in canon by the films themselves and their other books.

You know I always question if anyone at Generation Tech has ever played X-Wing: Alliance. Star Destroyers were a real threat in that game. If you flew in a straight line for too long in one's vicinity you would be blown out of the sky by point defense laser cannons. More often than not on those missions I was weaving and juking to dodge TIE fighters on my tail while trying to not let the capital ships hit me. Taking out an entire Star Destroyer was a Herculean task.

IMHO the CIS Lucrehulk carrier would be the best. It could hold a entire Rebel base with ease and most importantly it had a small crew requirement as it was mostly automated. Besides which it was a rugged reliable design that was refined over decades of use by the Trade Federation. As well it could still be used as a cargo ship so presumably spare parts were available and it didn't scream military on sight. Just keep it off the beaten track and have it relocate occasionally. The Venator would be a logistical challenge for a non state actor to use.

Nice touch featuring HMCS Algonquin (DDG283) in the package. The issue with the term "destroyer" is that it is highly morphed into meaning different roles depending on the navy and the requirements it serves as was the case with the Algonquin tasked largely with an anti-submarine role with its inception. The Japanese Self-Defence Force does not officially have aircraft carriers, yet their Hyuga-class helicopter destroyer is essentially an aircraft carrier in all but name. The Star Wars universe has added a great deal of detail to the classic Imperial Star Destroyer well beyond the first trilogy of films. As featured in Episode IV, it was used as a system control ship for standalone interdiction duties along with a compliment of Stormtroopers for ship board raiding parties and planetary policing. The compliment of TIE fighters and TIE bombers is in support of that primary role.

The Original Trilogy never said Star Destroyers were slow, in fact it always suggested outrunning them was basically impossible, and the fact that Han could/tried was thought as insane. Which make sense when you look at how big the engines on a Star Destroyer are in comparison to the rest of the ship, then how small most other ship's engines are compared to the size of the ship, the only other ship that really has the same ratio is the Falcon. And Star Destroyers make complete sense for Imperial doctrine, Star Destroyers aren't built for combat, not with other capital ships, or Star Fighters, they're made for looking scary, and glassing cities. Those turbo lasers and ion cannons aren't for shooting military targets, they're for destroying cities, and stopping fleeing civilian ships. Star Destroyers make 100% sense for what he Empire was going for.
@patmacken5130
@patmacken5130 4 года назад
Correct me if I am wrong but it also had a god number of troops it could deploy on the ground complete with support and vehicles. In essence they tried to make one ship that could do the role of carrier, battleship (in the modern real world sense), troop transport and interdiction. Of course that means it was a single multi-role hip. In reality no general mult-purpose tool does a single job as well as a specialized one.

Star Destroyers are mobile command posts and floating headquarters. You can position one over the capital of a small nation and send bombers out to every city on the continent throughout the day, using it as an unassailable command post and attack platform. You can also set it over a particularly rebellious zone of the planet and use the bunkers and pillboxes slung underneath to maintain a perfect sniper platform while unleashing more bombers or dropping ground troops. We've seen them set up bases and garrisons within days on planets and then jump out to go elsewhere--so they could easily circumnavigate a planet within a week, squashing an entire global rebellion without requiring any support ships or additional escorts. They're not just there to chase down small ships--they can Do It All. They're faster than any other vessel out there, they have gunports and point-defense weapons all along their length, and we haven't seen them hindered in movies by anything short of a full torpedo barrage, an antiorbital artillery piece, asteroids, and a combined Rebel fleet effort.

Actually, the same person who made the Venator-class Star Destroyer (Lira Blissex) created the Imperial-class Star Destroyer. The Imperial-class was an improvement on the Venator-class, especially considering how ships of the line in the Clone Wars functioned. They didn't put much emphasis on starfighters since aside from the odd Jedi pilot, most starfighters were backups to the larger ships. So they took the Venator, traded hangar space for more shields, armor, and firepower, and called it a day. The funny thing is, they could have used more firepower, especially during the later stages of the Rebel Alliance when the Alliance took off the kid gloves and started fielding massive Mon Calamari cruisers, which Star Destroyers were barely able to match. While a lot of Generation Tech vids praise the Arquitens-class corvette and the Venator-class Star Destroyer, in reality, the Imperial-class was a necessary step forward. That firepower may seem overkill when pitted against pirates and guerillas in peacetime, but when the larger Rebel forces start showing up, that firepower will be necessary. Also, it wasn't easy for Rebel starfighters to take down an Imperial Star Destroyer. In the movies, it's outright suicide to use a starfighter against a Star Destroyer, and in games such as Battlefront II classic or Rogue Squadron 2, unless you play your cards right or have backup, that Star Destroyer will pound your starfighter into space dust. There's a reason why Rogue Squadron 2's 5th and 9th levels were dreaded, because Star Destroyers served as bosses there, and many players got shot down trying to take on those massive warships. And of course, the firepower of the TIE fighters were usually more than enough to take down Rebel starfighters, so they were fit for the job of fighting Rebel forces too, and having more starfighters instead of fewer means that the Rebels can't just destroy them all by locking on proton torpedoes and opening fire. I'd hate to see Allen's version of the Empire where he splurges the Imperial budget on TIE Defenders, Arquitens-class corvettes and Venator Star Destroyers, only for Y-Wings, B-Wings, and the Mon Calamari cruisers to tear through that fleet as if it were made of toilet paper. Mon Calamari cruisers have more than enough firepower to tear through Venators and Arquitens ships as if they were target practice. And with TIE Defenders being horribly expensive, he'd have fewer fighters to deal with Rebel starfighters, who can easily respond to the shielded TIE Defenders by using ion cannons and proton torpedoes, both of which are available for the aging Y-Wing and the up-to-date B-Wing. And with no superweapons like the Death Star to lure in Alliance forces for one big, final battle, the Alliance will keep their forces divided and keep on using hit-and-run tactics, which will end with more destroyed Arquitens and Venator ships due to them both being out of date and no match for Rebel bombers and heavy cruisers. Practically, Generation Tech's ideal Empire would get torn to shreds by the Rebels via a death of a thousand cuts. Whereas in the old canon, the Empire managed to hang on to power all the way to 130 years after the first movie, and by that point, they're practically the only superpower in town.

I would add that the Sith Star Destroyer from the Great Galactic War, was actually a battle carrier. It have 4 hangers which it used to launch massive amounts of fighters and bombers. But I would argue that ISD's are fundamentally flawed, since it follows Tarkin's Rule By Fear. Meaning ISD's were weapons of terror designed to intimidate the enemy, while a Venator or even Mon Calala cruisers were weapons of war designed to kill the enemy.

The star destroyer is a good ship (expect that stupid bridge). The big problem is that they don’t come with support craft. The empire could have fixed this by having star destroyers carry tie defenders which could protect against other fighters making the star destroyer self sufficient by its own fighter compliment. They are expensive but they are the ultimate fighter. It’s al in one. They are bombers (no more money on tie bombers) they are interceptors and they can patrol sistems alone with their hyperdrive (on longer distances or more large areas a frigate might be needed).

People seem to forget that the ISD was a jack of all trades. A battleship to be sure but also a carrier and a troop transport and mobile command base. Comparing it to venators is a classic mistake. Those ships were designed after the original trilogy which is why the prequels have a more modern feel. Also there were no venators kept in the imperial era. So the Isd has one of the largest fighter complements in its era. Its only true weakness is the removal of point defense. This was clearly done so that starfighters had a chance to beat them. Reduce the turbo laser and ion cannon numbers by 10-20 % and instead use that power allotment for point defense and it would fairly bristle with quad laser turrets and starlight scale tractor beams. End of the revel advantage. The ISD is an excellent ship with multirole capabilities. It just needs a point defense refit.

The Star Destroyer is it’s own type and isn’t a destroyer type in the naval sense. Tbh the imperial class probably was the best solution for the empire, it was one of the fasted ships and could pursue most smaller vessels. (A New Hope first scene) so it would be useful against rebellious vessels and it could launch fighters and bombers to both protect itself and attack enemies. The TIE series should have been improved and was the weaker part of the ship and i would have liked to have seen the weapons in better positions, the ISD’s heavy Turbolasers has serious blind zones or limited fire zones including directly ahead, below, directly behind. The triangular shape is made redundant by its weapon placement, All that being said the ISD is capable of taking on almost any ship seen in the clone wars and so is the best option because it’s a capable battleship and carrier and troop transport. Since it won’t be facing huge swarms of vulture droids it doesn’t need the large carrier capacity. Yes the venator could win in a carrier battle but who’s gonna have a venator class with 400 crafts and pilots when the Empire is controlling everyone’s planets. Good video though

Nitpick on the wedge-shape: the REPUBLIC first came up with it, the Sith just copied it. As for the ISD, it was designed during the Clone Wars, and seems to be tailor-made around the Jedi's needs: they needed a ship capable of leading a fleet, take on the Separatists' strongest ships, defend itself with fighters, and if necessary land a decent assault force, and the ISD is equipped with the communication suite of a flagship, can smash anything less than the Malevolence, carries a full wing of fighters, and a whole legion with its vehicles. The use as a psychological weapon came later.

Also, small nitpick for this: space combat is far, far different than traditional naval combat. In space, large caliber guns makes sense as they have a far large effective range than their planet-bound counterparts. Lack of gravity and the vacuum of space tend to do that. Missiles would still be more effective on average, but large caliber guns would still be effective at a fraction of the cost of a single missile and potentially have similar results.

I think the star destroyers where mostly to strike fear like the super star destroyer they didn't really didn't care about how many lives they loss but I think it was mostly used to control and a big wrecking ball. BUT never take Ideas from the empire they don't know what to do with all that power. All they had to do is make more venators and more vehicles from the clone wars.

I've made this stupid argument before, but the Star Destroyer is a destroyer because we often see it in a fire support role for an even bigger, less maneuverable dreadnought. It's actually the smallest class of ship, other than a fighter or a shuttle, we ever see the Empire using in the movies. It's just that everything the Empire makes is impractical. Their interceptors can't dogfight. Their body armor can't take a hit from a bow and arrow. Their gas masks don't filter out toxins. Their rifles are inaccurate. Their ground based troop transports are slow and have a ridiculously high profile. So yes, they build destroyers the size of battleships, battleships are the size of space stations, and space stations the size of a small moon. That doesn't make the Star Destroyer a battleship, it makes it a badly designed destroyer. Just like in real life how an RG31 is a badly designed jeep, not a tank.

Actually, battleships are very resistant to anti ship missles. It would take very specifically made ones to go through the armour of say an Iowa class. An antiship missle would just bounce off, but the reason why they were phased out is because the aircraft carrier was able to be a jack of all trades while the battleship was becoming a easy target for delegation.

Correction. The Japanese air raid on Pearl Harbor sunk most the pacific fleet not the carrier fleet with operated with few ships mostly light cruisers, destroyers, and one or more carriers with maybe an escort carrier.

To be honest, your Raid: Shadow Legends adbreak was one of the more amusing ones I have seen. Kudos for being able to make one of the cringey aspects of contemporary RU-vid somewhat amusing.

Everyone knows how powerful the star destroyer imperial is. It is almost impossible to beat this ship in realistic battles. Therefore, the filmmakers deliberately reduced its true effectiveness several times to allow the rebels to fight. The star destroyer imperial was too powerful. with a size of 1 mile It will have enough firepower to easily handle up to 1,000 rebel warships simultaneously in realistic combat based on a sensible modern weapon system. To make the star destroyer imperial float in the atmosphere so softly. The engine would have to generate as much energy as a nuclear warhead every second to allow such a massive object to float softly. Because antigravity systems need to produce magnetic fields so powerful they can fight the magnetic fields of entire planets. That means the star destroyer imperial can blow an entire rebel army with a single shot if this is a reasonable battle. The Star Destroyer Empire was underestimated. The things that the movies do are illogical. The villains are always defeated by surprises. When pleasing the audience is more important than the realism of the movie lol
