I grew up in Harlem "Sugar Hill" I knew Rich Porter very neat clean quite young man he was hustling at a very young age 12 years old and I had no idea he was doing what he was doing, I was shocked and I would see him on the corner of 146 st Amsterdam Ave. they use to call him Richie Rich back then most of these young guys had apartment in N.J. upstate New York and still had a place in the hood alot of times the family don't want to move they want to stay that's all they know and the people look up to them they don't know anyone in the suburbs I know makes no sense but that's the way it is look at Alpo he couldn't stay away either and got what he deserved, back then it was crazy, drugs money and death

This entire story was a mess. Rich's uncle & mom were both smoking crack, however, that was seldom discussed. The little brother was exposed to too much at such a young age & it tragically cost him his life.

The most dangerous people around you are seldom strangers and usually those who are around you and know you. You don't keep that uncle's breed of snake around PERIODT. In the movie you seen the resentment and hatred growing towards Donny because he couldn't get to Rich. Had the uncle gotten his head blew he wouldnt've had gotten the opportunity to be the catalyst for Donny's murder which eventually led to Rich's most vulnerable and ultimately final moments.

It takes demons to do shit like this... Play the game how it goes and watch who you keep around you..

If you selling drugs I don’t think it’s that easy to move to a better neighborhood because people would get very suspicious and they would all be arrested even faster, bottom line nobody wants a drug dealer in a good neighborhood. The dude livin n tha house was Rich’s uncle. His uncle had taught rich a lot of game when he was younger, but Rich was giving his uncle drugs for him to sell it but instead he was using it. That’s why Rich was mad, and because he was doing it around Donnell and he wasn’t taking care of a buisness how a man should. That’s how Rich felt. So I think His uncle did it out of jealousy and anger. Either way his uncle is Grimey🔟0️⃣smh. His own family. 🤦🏽

They were ALL responsible. A lot of people are toasting to ALPO's death because of what he did to RICH, but the only innocent person in all of this was Donnell and they ALL failed him. The entire family was rotten because they were complicit with the lifestyle Rich provided off of them with blood money. So don't nobody got time for that. They should feel guilty because they all had a hand in the death of that child and were most likely going to lead him down that path. When Alpo killed Rich in a way he killed Donnell because with out Rich it was no hope for Donnell son.

Trying to buy a home requires federal paperwork. How would they explain the funds to buy a $200k home? He would've tied himself up in a federal case. Most guys in the street, especially young guys only have tunnel vision with no real plan.

Apple Head taught Rich a lot about the streets so there was a sense of loyalty as to why he gave him chances. Apple Head & a psychotic, very feared hitter named Preacher are the ones said to have done this to baby boy Donny. RIP to all of the Porter family members that have transitioned. 💚🖤❤

I remember when that went down and they found donnells finger with the note at the McDonald's on 125th and Broadway. We was walking buy and saw a lot of cops there and we found out later what was going down. It was Richard's uncle that set up the kidnapping with Preacher who was known for chopping body's up.

Ric, Azie, Alpo had houses in Jersey, Lenox Terrace / Long Island and in Washington . Harlem was used as a stash crib. Sometimes well ask our families to move but they like where there at.

To all the ones saying why didn't they move: #1) The mentality used to be "stay close to the money & the product".They couldn't leave the hood for good & they also couldn't make their parents leave.This was all going on before crack was crack.You literally were the whole store from ingredients to protecting your business.The levels of wealth off the game took everybody by surprise contrary to movies n myths.And also contrary to myth,half the movers actually came from money.They put the ones from poverty on to the game & also schooled them on how to spend wisely.Which is where reason #2 why they didn't move comes in: The majority of the crack game was run by teenagers from all financial backgrounds.Teenagers always think there will be a tomorrow & that was especially true for the drug dealers back then because they had to learn what their heroine & glue dealing predecessors never had to learn.It went from taking years to make a true million for yourself to crack making a 15 year old millions within a few months.It's very easy to launder money but it's not that easy to build trust with somebody who launders money.And the last reason a lot of them didn't move is because they already had shitty parents pre-crack so they were forced to stay around for the siblings & bills.Once the kids started bringing in money,they guilted them into giving a lot of it to them which cut down on the profits.There were some goofy people in the game who didn't take care of business but back in the day there were way more smart dealers than there are now.Just saying,if you weren't actually there,you didn't truly hustle & you stayed in your limited bubble area you can't come close to asking why they didn't move.

This really was an extraordinary story. Unfortunately, there were so many around this time. I'm glad there's a focus on this story. Many people just saw these as simple drug murders-just another number. More people need to know the details. Real people were dying. It doesn't matter who they were or what they did. Crack took the lives of so many, in one way or another. No city or state was immune. It was horrible. No one should have been desensitized to the deaths. They were all people. Thanks for the story.

Back then a lot of people made a lot of mistakes not knowing or understanding that crack cocaine is highly highly addictive. People back then didn't really understand that. So at the end of the day he probably would not have let his uncle just get high all day everyday and without understanding he's going to make a bad decision. Johnny was Rich and Donnell's Uncle that was on drugs. They're mother was an addict so Rich put all his energy into Donnell's future. The black hand of death was friends with Johnny and they ignored the hustlers and hitman's rule of, "This is business and not personal and no women and children." I do agree with you about how they talk about how many cars and how much money they had and they were making every day yet we're still staying in the slums of New York unheard of several people that are about that life but it's an old saying, "Don't ish where you eat" and they keep their families far away from whatever they're doing. But as we always said we always want to shine and look good but go home to eat some cold oatmeal LOL similar to what was said on the movie baby boy when he said the difference between guns and butter all them guys did was think about and purchased things that was Butter because getting their families out of New York and maybe down south is Guns! At least the Harlem legend L.A. tried to buy his mom's a house and Mr. Doo Wop stayed low key. Everybody that is gone were the ones that just did not think beyond the present. The money will only last as the money will only for a little while so that's why you have to make sure you have all your ducks in a row so when you are out you don't have to come back and you can move forward and doing other things positive and productive in your life. Just observational a little outside of the topic but was noticing that the types of crimes spoken of in these types of conversations and the personalities attached to them were often influenced and inspired by movie that focus on crime like Scarface or Paid In Full etc. This goes back to the roaring 20's as it's referred to with the media's focus on guys like Al Capone etc vs law enforcement agents like Elliot Nest etc. The socially constructed concept of good vs evil, the manipulation of perception, emotions, motivations and actions, the influence of the movies on the easily swayed desparate person and or groups, the historical fiction and its 7 elements of historical fiction (the situation has since been embellished by those directly and or indirectly involved for their own reasons) have all been a serious detriment to the oppressed portions of westernized society. All of these types of stories, the types of movies made during that period and afterwards and their influence on the poor have their roots in the soil of the Iran Contra Affair, the US gov flooding the inner cities with cocaine and other street drugs, The allowance of CCA by the US gov to privatize portions of the federal prison system and place that portion on the stock market for investors to invest in, the introduction to gangster and thug rap in the mid 80's to the 90's into the community. The results being all of the crimes spoken of in this video and other crimes of the same magnitude were facilitated by law enforcement who predetermined and rigged the playing field whereas the ignorant unconscious person walks right into the trap, its the mental illness that makes them not care. Your commentary on this story was spot on. I’ll say that you gave us more insight than the depiction in paid in full. Now I am still faulting alpo for the child’s death because the money he allegedly killed rich over was for his brother. If he would have worked out his differences with rich possibly this poor child would have been alive today. So alpo hands wasn’t all the way clean from his murder. Secondly I agree with a piece of the situation we probably didn’t catch is the point where rich told his mom don’t count my money we will get his brother back. He’s to blame a little on his brothers murder because being in the game especially with how much they was moving in the neighborhood he had to know you are a high risk to everyone around you. Sorry but the movie got it correctly. The dude living with them is Rich and Donnell’s uncle, NOT the mother’s boyfriend. Have you seen the movie? Rich also does more than just provide for his little brother, he spends time with him. The uncle did not spend time with Donnell. Azie is the person who wrote this movie so I don’t think there was too much messing up. Maybe some character’s were depicted differently but I’m sure A knew what happened since he was there. No disrespect.

Raekwon the chef, in his book, talks about how he bought his mother a house in New Jersey. But she hardly stayed there in all the years she had it, preferring to stay in the Projects they grew up in and lived. Eventually, she told him she didn't want the house because nobody visited her there because it was too far, and all her friends and family were back in Staten Island and in the Projects. She eventually went back permanently to the projects. A lot of people may have the money to move, but they don't want to move. They like where they are living. You also have to remember that they were young kids, and grew into young men. In hindsight we can ask why they didn't buy homes and move out of the Projects, even though they actually did have multiple different residences. They were young, they were not thinking about buying homes and businesses, to a certain degree. Remember also, this is the 80s, years before the rise of the internet and cellphones. Not too long ago, 10-20 years prior, it was the 60s-70s, and these were kids whose parents were kids in that era, where black people didn't have many opportunities and access to certain knowledge. In the 80s, they still didn't have much opportunities for the kids and access to gain knowledge, although it was arguably slightly improved. These kids learned from parents who didn't know much about buying homes themselves.

They did have cribs outside of the hood condos etc..and had over a million dollars in profit...also some mothers didn't want to leave where they were brought up.
