That actually still makes sense even if we consider Kakashi's anime appearance as canon. If we go with the fact that shark teeth are not genetic but get filed down, then Kakashi's mom doing that when he was around 2 years old would mean those were still his baby teeth. So in theory, when he was very young in Konoha he wore a mask to hide them, then his adult teeth grew in regular, but he just kept the mask cause he had already started wearing it.

Actual reason: Kishimoto wanted Kakashi to dress-up like actual ninja. Theory: Mother was a member of the Inazuka clan or a member of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist. I like both. Adding lore reasons to the actual reason, making both better.

My personal head canon for Kakashi is that he is the great grand son of Tobirama given the senjus whole "spread the bloodline within konoha" idea, the hair, the fact that there is no lineage of the hatake clan before Sakumo, the fact that Kakashi is the only leaf ninja that I can see that can easily use all 7 chakra releases (even earth that is opposite of his natural lightning release), the fact that kakashi has such a natural aptitude for learning new jutsus (being able to see them with sharingan is 1 thing, but instantly being able to replicate and remember it is another) alot of which were probably made by tobirama based on his amount of created jutsus, and the fact that the timeline works out with Tobirama being within a decade in age with Hashirama, then Sakumo being close in age with Tsunadae, and kakashi and tsunadaes age difference as well.

I think we have to understand that baby teeth are a thing and they are lost, but that doesn't mean Kakashi won't chisel his own adult teeth. My idea is that he is half Inuzuka, and he wears the mask to hid sharp canine teeth AND to deaden his sense of smell. He isn't full Inuzuka, so he might have difficulty processing a heightened sense of smell, like a non-Uchiha having a lot more difficulty with the sharingan due to genetics. Just my idea, but I like yours, too.

Also, Suigetzu ( sorry if I spelled his name wrong ) had to buff up his arm to be able to wield the executioner blade, & even then, he wasn’t as fluent with it as Kakashi on his first try.

Interesting, and to add to that this could explain why Kakashi was able to breath and talk while trapped in the water prison jutsu in OG naruto 1x8, while team guy in shippuden 1x13 couldn't breath and were drowning while in the same water prison jutsu

the thing i loved most about kakashi is up until he got susano all his fights stayed true to the early naruto fights. in shippuden most naruto fights became who could summon the biggest monster or who could shoot the best lazer beams but Kakashi's fights always had a good mix of tai jutsu, ninjutsu, and strategy. i still consider his fight with obito in the kamui dimension the last true ninja fight in the series as well as the epitome of early naruto style fights. sadly by the end of nartuo every fight just became some crazy kaju battle but even in the midst of all that Kakashi's fights managed to stay grounded until he got susano. not saying the kaju battles were bad but i prefer the fights in oj naruto over the fights in shippuden.

Great theory, one problem though. We have two sets of teeth, an initial child set that we have for several years as they slowly get replaced one by one by our then permanent adult set of teeth. With your theory, Kakashi would have had his child teeth filed into shark teeth, but once they’re all replaced by adult teeth, there’s no real risk to anyone seeing his face.

My own theory on this is just making a name for himself. Sakumo was well known as a great ninja even before kakashi was born. He was even said to be stronger than the sanin. Seeing as sakumo teaches kakashi at an early age to respect people and to never underestimate anyone. You see this with the interaction between guy and kakashi in the flashback. It makes more sense that kakashi didn’t want the recognition of being sakumos son but rather make a name for himself. He wore the mask because he looked so much like his father and wanted to step away from his fathers title and shadow. Another similar idea is that due to his (blemish/ birth mark) he covered his face to pass as his father. His mother could have had a similar marking and due to him not knowing his mother he wanted to cover it and be more like his father. Either of these makes more sense. Kakashi is seen to be very dependent at a young age and trying to advance very quickly. He also hides away and is even shown to have a troubled relationship with his father after his fathers suicide which is linked to his father abandoning a mission for his comrades. You see kakashi struggle with his team and those ideas. Remembering that he was still a kid and was still Learning and having to figure out his own path and to learn that you can’t always trust what those around him say. Thinking of how naruto grew up and all the things he heard and the looks he got. Kakashi would have had a similar experience. The people of the village would probably say awful things about his father and even start similar of him just due to him being the son.

Another loose theory that’s been on my mind: Kakashi’s mother is an Inuzuka, and teeth he’s hiding are actually dog like canines like that of kiba. This could explain the dog summoning usage he has, and his very specifically keen sense of smell. I feel like no one really talks about that possibility, but I want to know your thoughts!

Problem: you mentioned that his mother chizzled his teeth then passed him into his fathers care at the age of 3. But baby teeth grow out: you may have your adult teeth set in by the age of 7 or so meaning this could not be the reason why kakoshi wears a mask

Two things, 1. If kakashis teeth were filed to tips at 2 yo, by the time his adult teeth came in they wouldn’t be pointy. 2. With the sharingan can’t kakashi retain muscle memory by watching zabuza? Cause didn’t sasuke do that with rock lees technique?

This is tough. It’s awesome to think that Kakashi was originally from another village and that his mom was a member of the 7 ninja swordsmen of the most but I also love the Inuzuka theory. Both of them make a good deal of sense (although the Inuzuka one is probably more likely).

Can we also discuss that one of the things the Seven Swordsmen are seen to universally admire is talent with swords, and unique ways of using them? Because I feel like a Swordsman of the Mist that was fighting Konoha's White Fang would be introduced to maybe the only legendary swordsman of Konoha that they had ever met. Sword-crossed lovers of a sort. We wouldn't know what sword she had, or how she used it, but just like Kisame, she could have bonded with her opponent and come to value their rivalry after admiring the White Fang's sword skills. We have to imagine that life gets pretty dull when the only swords that can stand up to yours are the six guys that live in the same barrack as you. Meeting someone who can present a challenge, especially with a unique sword talent, would be an incredibly rare treat, more likely to create an impression than other fights.

Love the theory but I can disprove this. Kakashi’s mom was actually from the Inuzuka clan (Kiba’s clan) which is why he is able to use the ninja hounds and has a keen sense of smell as is shown in a some episodes. Also his father was called the White Fang hence a “dog fang”

I’m still disappointed that at the end of the war arc since the hidden mist 7 great swords were brought into play and also many were wielded by individuals of other nations it would have been really awesome and also a meaningful symbolic sign of good faith of the mist to give the swords to other nations to create the 7 great ninja swordsmen of the allied nations. This would’ve allowed kakashi as well as b to keep the respective swords they wielded but could’ve given a cool boost of power to other ninja from other villages. Imagine a fight where they all show up and it’s kakashi:executioners blade B:samehada darowi:kiba konkuro:nuibari (needle) chojuro:hiramekarei akatsuchi:shibuki (explosive blade) mifune:kabutowari (helmet splitter). I especially love the idea of konkuro having the needle cause that fits so well with his puppets. having kakashi keep the executioners blade would’ve melded so well with his connection to zabuza. I also don’t think b could’ve given up samehada even if he tried because of his chakra, it would’ve made a lot of sense if b ever passed on the 8 tails that the blade stays with the beast. Mifune would actually make sense with the helmet splitter because samurai were know for carrying a knife called the helmet breaker. Darowi and kiba, I mean come on lightning. Akatsuchi already uses explosive rock techniques I believe also he’s big so the explosive sword would fit. It’s like these blades were built to be given to ninja of different nations

I love the theory! Only plot hole is kakashi watched zabuza wield the executioner blade. While it takes strength, if you can see the method of swinging a blade that size and using its weight to your advantage, I can see why he would be able to master it swiftly. Kakashi growing up in the “mist” would also explain why he wasn’t a good friend and that was before his pops died. (His pops told him to ask Guy name)

The hair thing is a bit silly, it's not uncommon for ppl in naruto to inherit their fathers hair. Have you seen Naruto's hair? Not much red there. I really like the way you present this theory, but you could equally say that his father was from the hidden mist, he has a pretty unknown past and is the only one in Konoha who is unmatched with the sword. Or his father could have married into the Hatake tribe. Since the tribe symbol is literally farmland, maybe most Hatake clan are really good farmers. If they are good farmers, Kakashi could've gotten his earth jutsu prowess from there. I believe Kakashis mask is actually to protect Kakashis identity, but not sharkteeth. The mask is there so Kakashi could choose for himself if he wanted to have his face known or not when he got older. I believe Sakumo didn't handle the fame very well and he didn't want Kakashi to be pushed into that from being his son. We see Boruto struggle with this as he wants to be his own person. Sakumo might have already before Kakashi, been feeling the pressure of expectations from the village, expecting him to keep them safe. He would have looked at Minato and Hiruzen, seeing they were literally geniouses and incredibly strong, feeling he needed to live up to them. This could have led to the start of his depression, although the depression might have paused when he got Kakashi, then when his wife died (who is totally Inozuka, that is why he keeps his dogs so close to himself, not using them unless he really needs to), it came back and feeling shame from his actions, although rightous, was the last straw for him. Although I believe this mission before bros thing is a bit ridiculous, because this is exactly what Tobirama did, he told his comrades to flee and survive, before facing down the enemy group himself. Why wasn't Hiruzen or Danzo shamed for leaving the kage behind, isn't protecting the kage the most important mission in the village? Why was this order from Tobirama honerable? I smell Danzo a long way in this instance, a tactic he would repeat on Naruto later after seeing how well it worked on the village and breaking Hakumo's spirit. After Kakashi grew old enough to decide for himself if he wanted a mask, he was already on his way into the Anbu anyway, where using masks was their shtick. So he kept his identity a mystery. This also benefitted him when he became famous, after all keeping your jutsus and fightingskills secret is a big deal in the Naruto universe. Watch how deliberately Kakashi hides his techniques when fighting Zabusa. He only use his dogs when he knows no one will stay alive to relay this info on to others. Same with his earth prowess. He keeps using the Sharingan he is known for, keeping weaker enemies scared and having stronger enemies worried primarily about his sharingan. Itachi helped this alot I would assume. How scared wouldn't you be when seeing any sharingan? Especially when Kakashi could just delete you out of existance later on? I would never have made this theory if I hadn't been watching your content earlier. I really liked your first theory on Kakashi better, because it has way more legs to stand on. Kakashi has very good taijutsu and he is known as the copy ninja for a reason. If a chunin exam Sasuke could use his sharingan to copy Rock Lee's taijutsu just from watching him and perform almost identically to Lee, then who is to say a much more experienced and powerful Kakashi couldn't just copy Zabuza's sword techniques without prior training? Kakashi has good taijutsu already so his stamina is definitely good prior to picking up the blade. And let's not forget he regularly competes with Might Guy, the ultimate taijutsu specialist so he definitely has the strength and stamina. Is it really a reach to say he simply copied Zabuza via the sharingan, which we know he did, and due to his prior training had the strength and endurance to weild the executioners blade flawlessly? I think this would make sense.

I like the idea of kakashi and zabuza being half brothers who share the same mother. What if this said kunoichi swordsman had an unwanted kid with someone else from the hidden mist prior to giving birth to kakashi. And what if zabuza's father died in the war and since the mother was actively taking part in this war being a member of one of the most prominent factions in it, she would have no choice but to give zabuza up for adoption.

My theory. Kakashi's mother was an inuzuka clan member. But she had a different behavior, unlike the other inuzuka clan members She was so kind and humble konoichi. She didn't like the red fang symbol on her face that usually we saw in every inuzuka member because she felt it like ruthless. Then she decided to wear a mask to cover that red fang mark. then she married Sakumo and give birth to Kakashi. During the ninja war, she was killed by Sasori's parents and that's the reason Sakumo killed both Sasori's parents. After the war, Sakumo put off the mask from her and kept that with him for her memories. The time passed. Kakashi is about 5 years old. Sakumo gave that mask to Kakashi and told him "it belongs to your mother and there is nothing else I have to remember her than you and this mask, I would like to see you wear this mask and that's the pretty way to remember her ". Kakashi agreed that and he decided to wear that mask for the rest of his life in order to the memories of his mother.

I think Sakumo's failed mission lead to the Third Shinobi War. Also I believe Kakashi's ability to wield the Executioner's Blade comes from the fact that he saw Zabuza using it with his Sharingan. He is the Copy ninja after all. Witnessing another's technique and mimicking it to perfection is kind of his M.O.

Going along with this theory, what if Kakashi's father was killed by hidden mist anbu and they made it look like a suicide? And his father keeps that a secret when they talk so Kakashi doesn't go out looking for revenge. Could be a possibility 🤔

I don’t think this theory holds water because we’ve seen Kakashi without a mask once when when disguised himself as Orochmaru and he very much did not have shark teeth and I’m pretty sure anyone with enough chakra and skill in kenjutsu could wield the Kubikiribocho (Executioner’s Blade) efficiently hell Killer Bee is the prefect example of this. The man has an enormous amount of chakra bein a Jinchuriki and is arguably the greatest swordsman in all of Naruto and he wielded the blade better than any Swordsman of the mist ever did so I think the reason why the Seven great Swordsman of the Mist were know as such was because they were the best kenjutsu users in the Hidden Mist not in the world

My theory to how Kakashi was able to use the Executioners Blade so easily is that he has extensively seen Zabuza use it with his Sharingan and was able to copy his fighting style with it. He is the Copy Ninja after all.

It also helps explain why Kakashi was so skilled at a young age as he could've started to become a ninja at just a few years old in the Blood Mist Village. His mother being a swordswoman would likely add to his own swordsmanship with his father's blade.

I think his mother being a half Uchiha Missing-Nin/ Half Uchiha Anbu would fit more. & could easily explain kakashi's power ups thru the series.

The one thing i will say against this theory is with kakashi wielding the executioner’s blade, basically he used his sharingan against zabuza and probably copied the movements from zabuza sorte like what sasuke did against lee when they had fought before the chunin exams started

In one of his original sketches, Kakashi was drawn with Samurai armor. That idea got scraped, but was kept & the design was used for Mifune, the Samurai that fought Hanzo. So, if this theory is true, hopefully we can actually see Kakashi in that armor wielding swords.

If his mom was one of the legendary swordsmen wouldn’t he had recognized his mom in the shinobi war or am I missing something? But the theory does make sense tho.

Why would Kakashi still have to wear the mask after his baby teeth fell out? If his mother filed them to a point when he was a child it would of been his baby teeth. Kakashi is one of the smartest people in naruto over time he would of learned that his teeth were the thing his father wanted to keep hidden. I think you just have to remove that facet of the theory and it makes more sense.

His physical features do point to some sort of mist heritage. Though is natural skillset and affinities points to a genetic land of fire origin which I feel enforces his possible relation to the Inuzukas. Sharingan gained attributes flesh out the rest of his battle character especially kenjutsu, mimicking mist origins flawlessly in that regard. His insane combat knowledge and being a perfectionist of the basics makes me certain he could wield most any weapon effectively. As for the mask, maybe he wanted to distinguish that he was not his father as far as personality and convictions? I feel the simplest answer on that is the right one, Kishimoto wanted that look and what mysterious character would be complete without some sort of obvious constant mystery attached.

Amusing as it is to imagine Kakashi with shark teeth, the main issue is the we know he was in Konoha from at least 5 years old onwards (since he graduated from the Academy at 5). The natural age that baby teeth fall out and are replaced by adult teeth is around 6 years old and for a couple years after. So prior to arriving at Konoha, he would have baby teeth (theorized to have been shaved into shark teeth here). But then fairly shortly after being in Konoha, his teeth would be replaced with normal ones. So even if he had to cover his teeth earlier in life, there is no reason to keep doing this.

One slight issue, it is impossible to chisel your teeth into Naruto shark teeth because regular chiseled teeth will not be able to join up to seal the mouth. He would stick out like a sore thumb with all the gaps in his teeth so It'd have to be a Genetic thing. Konoha would also probably the least safe place to keep him because of the Hyugas. At some point you'd think Hinata or Neji would've said something after using their Byakugans around Kakashi if he had anything peculiar like this specifically, especially since Neji met up with him pretty quickly after fighting Kisame.

I like the idea of Kakashi’s mother being a Hozuki and the Hozuki clans teeth all being genetically sharp, apart from that they’re quite similar to the Hatake clan down to the white hair and kenjutsu affinity, and Kakashi resembles his father in everything but his teeth, so to protect him Sakumo had Kakashi wear a mask I mean it’s all theory anyway

I personally believe that my headcanon for kakashi is that all 4 of your kakashi and sakumo videos are true, I believe that kakashi is the grandson of tobirama I believe that his mom is a hyuga I believe sakumo is in a void and I believe that this theory is true too.

But if his teeth are chiseled at that age they'd still be milk teeth and would fall out eventually Then growing normal teeth

i just thought of a really good theory about how the second great shinobi war started. pretty much madara going to all the other villages and telling them to bow down to konoha made them think Konoha was preparing for war in order to conquer them, this made them realize that if konoha went to war with them and had the Uzumaki clan backing them up they would certainly win so all four villages banded together to destroy the Uzumaki clan. this acted as sort of a franz fertinand incident which caused konoha to retaliate in kind which kicked off the second great shinobi world war. this is interesting because it would mean that atleast at the beginning konoha would be 1 v 4 against the other villages which at the time they probably could have pulled off. i suspect that after the first kages died and the village leadership changed the alliances between the other 4 nations started breaking apart resulting in the stone and mist fighting. i also suspect that this is what lead konoha to seeking peace as the 2nd raikage was probably more open to peace then the first one was. as far as konoha was concerned the only way to achieve peace was to create an alliance that was too strong to oppose much like their alliance with the uzumaki was the only thing keeping war from breaking out in the first place so this would explain why they went to the raikage for peace. also geographically speaking this would make sense because it cuts the mist off from the other villages so even if the other three villages united the mist would be easy to destroy leaving only sand and stone fighting the much more powerful cloud and leaf. also i think this may have all been planed by Madara for some grander goal. either to create a war so big and devastating it made the 5 nations more averse to war in the future or to destroy the leaf as punishment to both the senju and Uchiha for betraying him and to get rid of the two biggest obstacles in his way.

Shikamaru has always been my fav. Id always rather be a resourceful, strategist/tactician than a powerhouse, plus I'd rather have a crowd control type jutsu. I also figured that Kakashi's mother was a Shinobi and died in battle, or maybe some disease. Also, do we know if the shark teeth is a natural genetic occurance in the blood mist, or a procedure done for whatever reason? Because if it was a dental procedure than he wouldn't be born with those teeth.

There are episodes where Kakashi takes off his mask, both in a disguised form and as his regular self ... and nothing is different about his teeth. If you notice, his headband is pulled down to cover part of the scar that took his eye, and his mask is often pulled up on that same side of his face to cover the same scar.
