Why can’t it be all races? Can you imagine someone saying love seeing all white RU-vidrs together? How racist would that sound? And it’s ok to say it regarding black? Isn’t that a double standard? It’s just sad..
@TheYarbros
@TheYarbros Год назад
@@24hrstolive27 We don't see it as a double standard at all. "White" RU-vid is already a thing and deeply implied. When you cut on RU-vid you do not see ppl of color let alone black couples touring the world. We represent the vanguard and appreciate the love and support. Love is universal and support is personal. As an American who is living in a country that has blatantly trampled over black lives since its inception maybe you don't understand that it's a part of our culture to support eachother in this way. It's OUR culture. Before leaving the states I was the ONLY Black man in the boardrooms at most of my jobs. Anytime another brother or sister was hired (no matter the department or position) I rushed to give them a spirit of solidarity and support (Black Love) because ik how lonely it feels to be someplace that dosent understand your values or perspective. That said we love universally and rep for all who can vibe w/ us. The only thing sad is when ppl have a problem w/ a culture they don't understand....thats a privilege and stance w/ no foundation.

Choosing to make San Miguel de Allende your home offers numerous advantages. This charming Mexican town boasts a rich cultural heritage, stunning colonial architecture, and a vibrant arts scene, making it an ideal place for those seeking a culturally enriched lifestyle. The pleasant climate, with mild winters and warm summers, adds to its appeal. San Miguel de Allende also offers a relatively low cost of living compared to many Western countries, making it an attractive option for retirees and expatriates. Its welcoming community, excellent healthcare facilities, and a range of recreational activities further contribute to the quality of life in this picturesque town. Thanks, THE YARBROS!

I find it interesting that you are collectively so into SMA. I spent six weeks in Guanajuato, back in 2009. Loved it. I had a travel motorcycle, so I could explore the region and country. The Gringification in SMA really put me off. Prices in dollars on menus, always getting the English menu when you sit down. Start a conversation in Spanish, and have it switched to English. It's like Mexico with training wheels and prices for the privilege. It's nice, but like Santa Fe, NM in Mexico. I thought GTO and QRO were far more authentic.

Thanks for this comment when traveling and trying to live in a place even if just for three months if it all possible, I try to be cognizant of gentrification. When the first Statt came up that one and six people that live in SMA is an Expat the first thing I thought it was “whoa I bet the locals are getting priced out”.

As always, great, informative and engaging video. My husband and I live In Queretaro and we visited SMA. We felt like you Randell, too many gringos. We love the town, history and culture, however, my husband was bombarded with the locals hustling him. It is one thing to ask for money (which we did give to those who were in need) but it is another thing to be persistent after saying no (very respectfully) many times. It is the opposite In Queretaro, people ask for money, however, when we are not able to give, they are respectful and go on their way. They do not continue to hustle us. It was unfortunate that we had that experience because it left a bad taste in our mouth about the town. My husband and I seem to do better in areas that are more local and indigenous. We are committed to a one year rental lease which expires in May and we will be traveling through Mexico as Nomads. With the help of your great videos throughout the past couple of years, We are very excited to experience the many wonders of Mexico. Thank you for your love and hard work.

We aren't certain yet if SMA will make our final location as a place to retire. So far, it's incredibly beautiful, we love living in Colonia Bellavista, and the people are amazing. It's expensive here, though, and we don't know yet if that boho artsy vibe (and I'm an artist) and the good food is enough to make up for the higher cost of living. We left Asheville, NC to move to Mexico, and SMA reminds me in many ways of Asheville. Everything costs more from a haircut to groceries. We will be here for a total of 3 months before we move onto the next city that is on our list. I just found your channel today and I'm a new subscriber - this was a GREAT video. Thanks! 🤣🤣🤣 I'm aware of Canada, the US and Mexico's positioning...funny thing is we had a huge debate during a live a couple of years ago and Most of MX doesn't believe in North, South or Central America....its just America so now I sometimes intentionally most of the time just me talking exclude them when I'm doing N. America since they don't identify w/ it.... anyway thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate you!

Really nice video! I spent a week in San Miguel in September and am headed back this Friday! I love that there is diversity among immigrants/expats. My husband has not visited San Miguel and is a little skeptical about it as a place to live for us because of the large number of gringos. He is a person of color so it made me happy to see that there is a good vibe there in that regard. I just love it, personally! Thank you!

I love SMA and I love The Yarbos and I think Ms Wedderburn has a lot to offer. BUT CAN WE LOOK at 7:28? One person is dressed for a lovely spring day and the other is dressed like she's about to harness up the huskies for a trans-Siberian sled journey! I've never been so conflicted. 😊

It's coming in around $1400 with the bulk if that being housing in or around the Centro area. Get an apt further out and it drops to the $1100 range.

You might want to check out Guanajuato, it's not too far from SMA, but way more reasonably priced. I befriended a 15-year ex-pat there who's living in a 2 bed/1 bath apartment for $200 a month (yes USD). His place was safe, quiet and had an amazing town view, and his rent incl utilities and internet! A big bene is Guanajuato's Int'l Airport isn't far away from the center of town.

There's one thing that's always ignored about San Miguel de Allende. The elevation is almost 7000 feet. So if you vacation there, expect to have altitude sickness for at least a few days. Headache, nausea, lethargy, those fun things. And if you have COPD or other lung issues, you're not going to have a good time of it either. You will be gasping for air like a fish out of water. We picked Merida specifically for these reasons. Yep, it's hotter than two rats humping in a wool sock during the summer, but at 50 feet altitude, the breathing here is much easier. I wish I could live in San Miguel de Allende, but health wise it wasn't a good option for me.

Love the way you describe SMDA I loved the city the times I´ve been there, also Guanajuato, love that people from other countries come and enjoy and respect our culture, also sometimes learn some good things from it. Your channel is great for people that still "fear" México to not be "afraid" of us, all of us aren´t villains, the good guys, WE are more. If you haven´t been to Mazatlan, try it, vibe and people are different, not in a bad way, the "bad" thing is that it is in Sinaloa, state of pretty much most of the known narcos in the country but still, is a place that deserves to be visited and it is also cheap. Question to you as african americans, Have you experienced racism in México because of the color of your skin? I´m asking this since there is an Afro-Mexican culture donwn in the south. I´m asking this cause I love history and I´d like to know foreigner´s POV on this Love your channel. Enjoy our country :)

Just wanted to share that I keep a little “interests to-do” list in my phone so I don’t forget to research or ask about things whenever I’m in a new place! I tend to get caught up in finding a restaurant or the best beach or whatever, and then miss stuff I would’ve enjoyed. Some of mine are hiking trails, local bookstores, galleries, musical instrument stores, sewing and knitting stores and classes, etc. (yep, I’m a nerd lol) I’ve found some cool cooking and craft classes, books by local authors, etc, that I doubt I would’ve experienced on the standard tourist path.
