Most people will say the R6, I have ridden all. I have a 21 gsxr600, it is so good, heavily modified and it is a track weapon for sure while still being street legal. I believe also it’s one of the easiest to work on

You should get a race prepped liter bike for the track. You're far too experienced and 1000's have better suspension, better electronics, better ergonomics etc....

It's just funny to me how everyone says "A 1000 is too much for the street!!!" My response is that you know you don't HAVE to got 200 mph, right? And a stock 600 can do 155-160, so why isn't that "too much for the streets?" Just ride your ride! 🏁🏁🏁

Both 600 and 1000 are fast, but to say the 600 is pointless on the streets because a 1000 has more headroom doesn't tell the whole story. A 1000 is not automatically better, the 600 has its own charms. Some don't like having to rev up a 600 to get power, but on the other hand some find that to be a fun aspect of it. I actually enjoyed my Honda Prelude more than my 350Z for the same reason, I loved to spin up that little 4cyl motor and shift the gears just right, I found the 350Z to be less entertaining at normal speeds (even though it was prettier). This 600 vs 1000 argument has been around for decades, just pick the bike you like and go have fun.

Bought a Kawasaki 636r, 4 months ago. Bought a 600 on purpose. Learning to master and push smaller engine to its limits will allow me to appreciate a liter bike better, when i do upgrade.

@@JRemy617 . Hi buddy, Mine is 2016, krt edition. Bought it used. A rarely covered topic about sports bikes is keeping them from heating up. So it's not about weather I am going fast enough for 3/4th gear. You can't keep using lower gears for long time, even if you aren't going too fast. Mine gets close to 212F pretty quickly if I am in busy area and trying to cruise under the speed limit. So I move to 4/5th gear, even at 50mph and temps drop. Mine really doesn't like moving slow. So the not so short answer is, yes. You can and will get to use all the gears no matter the speed. And even though a 600 is not as torque heavy, you can still move around easily without needing to drop all the way to 1/2nd. Unless you feel the need for speed and/or have a good sounding exhaust. Best of luck with the upgrade.

Been a fan for a long time but I feel like pointless is a huge overstep. As a rider myself I’ve seen people go from beginner bike to 1000 being under this impression and wreck or don’t know how to do anything but go in a straight line. So their riding skill hasn’t been improved whatsoever they just have a faster bike now. Your points are valid for the most part but with the whole power band arguement. You don’t have to push the bike to its peak my zx6r powerband is around 9-10rpm range. If you’re coming off of a beginner bike you don’t need that instant torque and all the heavy weight of a 1000 compared to a 600. Those lower rpm’s are perfect for beginner riders because they can stay down there until they’re ready and still have plenty of power. Plus 600’s are plenty of fun for the more experienced also like myself to have fun on. I don’t want a bunch of beginners going on 1000’s after seeing this video because their favorite RU-vidr who they trust because you have such a big influence on a big community said to. 9/10 times doesn’t end up being a good idea. Like I said not hating but should be wayyyy more specific on the points of the video

Depends on country too, I live in Germany, and the roads here are pretty twisty and narrow. Most of the time you’re between 40-100 mph, so for that 600cc is perfect. On the other hand we have the autobahn 😬

bought a 1200CC BMW as my first street bike. 15K miles later i made the right choice for the exact reasons you mentioned. comfort on long rides, powerband and tech features. before that I had only ridden 80CC dirtbikes and 125CC mopeds.

@@caseycoleman394 I had a 20 year gap in riding. 80's and 125's were when I was an adolescent, bought the 1200 at age 32. it obviously took a few hundred miles but i've never had any issues. sliding on dirt bikes really prepares you well for street bikes though. most important thing if you are starting off big is never twist that throttle to much, especially with chain drive litre sport bikes. my current bike is shaft drive. much safer, heavier and more comfortable.

@@taylorv4 K1200RS actually, so flying brick inline 4, not a waterboxer, but yes, still much different than a chain drive super sport bike. it's more like an M5, whereas a supersport 1000cc chain drive is more like a Ferrari 458 in terms of power to weight.

I'm 6'5 265lbs. I have a ZX-14. I got it because I didn't feel like a monkey "getting friendly" with a football. I've never been on a M or S1K. Be honest, do you ever feel like you might be too big for it? If not, I might have to check one out.

I think the weight and added stability and added torque of a liter bike is easier for the street so you don’t have to drop three gears to pass someone and don’t have to rev out to the very top of the rev range to get the ring going

Facts also to add there's not much difference in weight between a 600cc and 1000cc I feel a 600cc should be 40% lighter and they're not they're bearly 10%

I've owned every size cc over the last 30+ years of riding, on both Sport and Harleys! Now in my 40's, I've settled in perfectly on my '21 CB650R. Fast, comfortable inline-4 capped at 140mph and I couldn't be happier! The only time I ever miss(ish) the 1000 is on the interstates! Otherwise, my 650 is a more perfect bike literally everywhere else I ride. With a hotty and two little ones at home nowadays, I got no business going any faster than my CB can go! 🤣🤘🏼 And to me, the tech just gets in the way of the ride!!

My R6 is perfect for me. In Europe we have way smaller roads with a lot of curves, so a nimble 600 is very nice. Also for the track. A 1000 is more comfortable on the highway though

I loved how you talked about torque. That’s the most important thing in getting something moving and then Hp comes into play after you get moving. You have to have both.

Yup tq is basically how quickly you can get somewhere. Hp is how fast you can go. Based on this an mt or kmt would be perfect. However I don't do twins and mt I love the sound of mt10 but not the look and Mt09 is great but in comparison to a bmw s1k is a downgrade

As a person going on their 3rd season with a gsxr 600 I would say they’re great bikes. It’s my first bike and it’s been a great learning process I can do a 300 mile ride like butter. I’ve only ridden a 1000 once, it was a friends zx10 with a 20 inch stretch or something close to it. Crazy fast bike but it really made me appreciate my 600. Not to mention 75/year for insurance is beautiful 😂. I’ve been taking my time to learn, I got 6000 miles of seat time so far. It’s not the fastest and I know that but it’s still nice to be able to cruise and still drop a gear when needed. Mines a 04 so I got no special tech and it has taught me a lot about control and manipulation of the bike. I wouldn’t mind a 1000 but I have no use for it I’m only 5’7”

I think cc choice depends on the rider. Sure, bigger riders are going to be more comfortable on a liter bike. For guys like me (5’9”), a 600 is going to be better. It also depends on location. Places with a lot of wide open, flat and straight roadways are golden for liters. In NY, a 600 is right at home with all the winding roads (and lack of no-chase laws)

2022 Kawasaki Z900 as my 1st bike. 948cc ain't no joke. Almost 11k miles in, and I have been good! It's all in the flick of the wrist. Now, I don't know how much of a difference there is between my bike and a superbike. I've never ridden a true 1000cc superbike, but I think I would have been fine. Either way, I'm glad I went with a bigger displacement. Whatever you ride, just be safe. Thanks for the video man!

@rawcircoking I can't call it. I did ride in rain mode for the 1st 600 miles because of the supposed less power input. I took it slow even when I switched to sport mode. The bike does come alive around 5-6k rpms, I didn't really start gunning it until 1k miles or so. I was comfortable by then, so I was able to handle the power. Once again, it's all in the flick of the wrist.

Id agree with the tech point. Most 600s dont have the cool tech and im also on the tall side 6'4" so i started on a naked 750 then went to a 1000. I literally couldnt fit on a 600. My hands were an inch away from my knees at full lock. The other issue is even with a 750 i was still tge slowest bike in my firend group. It seems like tge goal for every street rider is to have a 1000 so eventually you will be the slowest one in your group if you stay on a 600. And we know they will leave your a$$ behind.

21 years of riding sportbikes. I've been on a 300, 600s, 750s, 1000, and a Busa. 300 was the most fun. You make valid points about power availability. I don't like tech, I am the tech. To your point, most newbs have 600s and don't know how to compensate for lack of tech, so a liter bike with tech is safer to a degree. A 600cc bike is pointless riding with you guys! LOL But I have rode with similar crews and not had any issues. Obviously I'm capped at 150MPH, but it's still fun. Ringing the bike's neck is the fun part!

After riding on the street for 30+ years I have decided that 100-140 hp is ideal for the street. More hp does not equate to more fun on truly twisty roads. So much so I have considered downsizing away from bigger bikes. 600s market died when the manufacturers tried to keep development and tech for them with literbikes. Everything has gotten so expensive, a kid can't go buy a new faired sportbike. Folks with the money can stretch to a literbike and most do that. You can still ride a smaller bike at your 100% on the street and twisty roads. Try that on a literbike and jail or a casket is in your future.

I started on Honda CBR300R then one month later I got a Kawasaki ZX6R and it was fast. I was scared giving it all the throttle for the first few months but I got used to it and then it didn't feel so fast. I had the ZX6R for 9 months before I sold it and bought a 2017 Honda CBR1000RR and I love it. Now I have been riding the CBR1000RR for 9 months and I would never ride anything less than a 1000 anymore. I sold the Honda CBR300R and bought a Kawasaki Ninja 400 for my wife and now she rides with me. She has been riding this ninja 400 for almost a year now and I keep trying to buy her a 600 but she doesn't want it. She said she is happy riding the 400 and she doesn't need to go fast and she likes how nimble the 400 is, she keeps up with me through the turns most of the time.

It all comes down to personal preference. For myself, I don’t understand why some people bash 1000’s so much saying things like “You’ll never use all that power”, “A 1000 is too much for the street”, “A 1000 is only good for if you’re always going 150+”, or “A 1000 is a lot heavier than a 600.” Bullsh*t. If someone doesn’t like or can’t afford a 1000, then don’t get one 🤷‍♂️. Saying no one needs that much power is like saying no one needs that much fun or enjoyment in their life. Or like saying we should only be able to buy strictly what we need to live and nothing more. It doesn’t even make sense. People don’t seem to say thing like that about fast cars, but for whatever reason when it comes to bikes some people get a hard-on about it. I loved my old 2019 zx6r but definitely prefer my ecu-flashed 2021 GSXR1000R. While I may never exploit its top speed, I definitely can use the extra available torque at the ready when on the highway. Stock, it only weighed about 10lbs more than my zx6r did and feels just as nimble if not moreso. The flickability kinda surprised me the first time I rode it after I bought it. I’d rather pay for and have way more power than I could ever use than have just enough. I don’t care about mpg. I don’t live an area where there’s many twisty roads at all. It’s more long straights than anything else, and I love the brutal acceleration and straight line speed of a 1000. I actually wonder what a little more would feel like. That being said, if you just ride a 1000 calmly and don’t crank the throttle, it can be a nice easy ride. It only goes as fast as you tell it to. Again, to each their own.

I ride a concours 14, love it it's loaded with torque and made for street riding. You can slab all day on the interstate in comfort or play in the twisties. Not a track bike but have seen videos of riders doing that too. Like the shaft drive no chain to fool with and like you said when you want that torque it's there. Not a recommended beginner bike because she is a big girl.

In my humble opinion I think that both 600cc and 1000cc bikes have their advantages & disadvantages, if your main road of transport is the highway then 1000cc is better but if you live in an area where there is alot of corners and less highway then the 600cc makes more sense to own plus for a new rider 600cc bike are more forgiving

I ride alone and smoke everything on the road on my gsxr 600. Most of the bikers in my city are old heads in motorcycle gangs so I rarely see them anyway. Ultimately just don’t feel comfortable going up yet.

I started on a 400 to stay alive and build confidence. I own an R6 now and it is similar but different. That 400 was soooo forgiving weight wise. I can’t imagine starting on a 600 but know those who have. Every rider I’ve met that started small is a better, more technical rider than those that start big. But I understand it’s different strokes for different folks. I will say, we should be hyping and showing love to the 600s before all the manufactures stop making them all together. I think most would say the 1000 is pointless on the streets. Going fast in a straight line is fun for how long? I think most riders would agree too it’s more fun to ride the piss out of a smaller bike than it is to baby a liter around town.

I have to agree. 600s have their place. But first time I rode a 1000, I immediately appreciated the fact that I didn’t have to go WOT to merge onto the highway. I sold my R6 not too long after & picked up the ape. I actually ride much more reserved on the ape than I did on the R6 too.

Some people riding styles are diff, some people only ride 300s, some 600s some 1000s. Just depends on riding style I suppose & size etc.

Makes sense. To each his own. I prefer the high rpm screech redline feel of the 600, but more torque down low would be nice too. However, I prefer the Hemi over a tuner.

I've had 600, 750, And 1000,s supersports, I ride street and I also ride track.. The short answer is yes there's usable power with the 1000 on the street, But If you want a relatively quick cheap fix for that on a 600 just gear the sprockets different and change the chain 420 conversion.. I think having a 600 cc bike gives you something to look forward to.. Just my thoughts..

I honestly disagree. 600 do have a place in the bike world. Maybe more then most think. I started on a cbr600rr. Now i have a cbr1000RR. Yes the 1000 gets up and goes faster, but doesn't corner as crisp as the 600 did. See it all the time on track days. lower cc machines walking the litres off the track cause they can over perform in cornering. Lower cc doesnt mean lesser bike Now out on the open roads. a litre bike can go what 190 factory easily. Tell me where ya gonna rip on one at that speed sustained and not have half the Johnny One Time and his buddies trying to chase ya down? You likely will rarely use all that power. 600 though . can ring it out hit 185 on most . still getting chased by 5.0 but you can out corner them and disappear. thats my two cents . Stay safe out there and keep the shiny side up.

I got a 600 for my first bike with no experience. I do want to upgrade when I learn a whole lot more, but I don't think I'd ever sell the 600. probably turn it into a track day bike and keep the 1k for fun on the streets.

Both of my bikes are 1100s. I have an Africa Twin and a Streetfigher V4 SP2. I've been riding for less than a year and I fully agree, anything under 1000cc just doesn't make sense to me. Now if I were going to push a bike to it's limits on the track a 600cc makes sense because I don't have the skills to push my Streetfighter anywhere close to it's limit on the track.

@@jhonnydumeny9816 100% man! I've been building and racing 9 second cars, so I'm familiar with speed. I know that a sport bike is to easy to do sustained speed on with all the aero, hence why I chose the naked version. Also, modern bikes have a ton of safety features that allow me to progressively push my limits in a safe environment while not just looping the bike or sending the rear completely sideways. Now to really answer @thedragonofechigo7878 I chose the Streetfighter V4SP2 because I love the mechanics of the counter rotating, V4, desmo valved engine. I love the rattle and clack of a dry clutch (reminds me of the older triple disk race clutches in my drag cars). The Winter Test livery is to die for and the carbon fiber wheels and farkles really tickle me in all the right ways! But mainly I bought it because I can, next I'll probably pick up a 2023 BMW S1000RR with the M-Sport package and have it tuned for E85. I think BMW really hit a home run with 2 wide band and 2 narrow band 02 sensors allowing for closed loop fueling all the way to redline.

I ride a 18’ 636, M4 Full Exhaust and stock ECM. Rode a 23’ GSXR 1000 and let me just say I’m ready to upgrade but I love my 636 to death. Would love to track the 636 to up my riding experience and move up to a liter bike 😮‍💨😮‍💨

Appreciate the video Sir and some very valid points! I am 5' 10" 165 pounds, own and ride both an '07 CBR 600RR and '07 CBR 1000RR.....both 'lo tech bikes, some mods of course. When I ride the 600 it feels very natural for my frame and style of riding (high RPM and "wring the neck outta the bike"). Saddle up on the 1K and whoa yeah buddy there is a difference (still in the RPM's and stretching gears like a madman). Jump back on the 600 and it feels like a MOPED haha! Get back on the 1K and there is the MONSTER that it is hello! Either one though it only takes pulling out of the driveway to understand which one does what, how it rides and muscle memory takes over. Saddle time is the key. Point being.....Technology will NEVER make a rider "safer". It may however bail you out of a sticky situation, but knowing your bike (and yourself) is the most important part of riding safely. Learn the basics first, thus it becomes knowledge. The rest is just a bonus after that. Side note: My personal opinion is that NO modern day 600 should even be considered a starter bike. (well maybe a Harley 883, but I'm not hating haha!) ---Know your ride, and ride how you know--- CBR LIFE.....Drop a gear and disappear.....Rubber side down Ride Safe!

My first bike was a 02' 954 RR and I am self taught. Worth noting I was 28 years old and that DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE(In my case anyway) in the risk that we take in pushing these machines. But I had a understanding of how the gears worked being that I had drove manual shift cars all my life. Now I will say that I lived in Tennessee and was in the country with not much traffic and I only went out at night at the beginning to reduce the traffic. Not knowing riding at night made me a stronger rider but I wouldn't recommend doing it for other first timers for visibility reasons. Now that being said I'm glad that I started off big because I grew into the bike rather than growing out of one. But that two is another discussion the topic at hand was 600cc or 1000cc. My second bike was a 02' R6. I kept it no more than two weeks and even though it was like my second year riding and I wouldn't say I had mastered the 954 the 600 simply didn't have "ENOUGH" for me. Now I'm not the biggest guy 5'5 175lbs but every bike after 4 of them have all been CBR 1000's. I've rode bigger bikes to and they just felt like boats to me. No where near as nimble to flick like you can 1000's. So my vote is 1000's everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. But I think it's a individual preference I know people who have gone down in power band for various reasons and I understand that to. The 750cc is a happy medium if you're wanting that quick burst with a noticeable increase of power but not 1000 power so there's that option. I have a 2024 zx636 I chose to get another 600 because i ride by myself so it’s no need for a 1000cc, plus I had to tell myself is it financially smart to get 1000cc just because I can say I have a 1000cc bike hell no. Probably if I rode with a group of 1000cc riders I would have hop on ZX1 but right now it’s Me, Myself and I😂!!!

Cool FLD and I hear you but here is just my take. I'm 5 ft 6 150 pound 50+ year old rider. I have had my fair share of bikes for sure and all were brand new bikes. First one was a good old Honda CB500 then jumped up to a nighthawk 650 which went up to a nighthawk 700. Took a break for a while and then grabbed a 87 GSXR 750 which was like insane back then but moved from NY to WPB FLA and it just was not fun down there, hot, blind cagers and just going from light to light became meh so off that went. Came back to NY and grabbed a 01 R6 which was stolen just 7 months later but was just a great reason to jump up to my first liter bike, that being a 02 R1 silver & black. Last 1K was a 09 ZX10R aka the (praying mantis) which I loved, so much power in even now and was for me my fav bike for years. Fast forward to today and I could have any bike out right now but have been rocking and loving my 2013 ZX6R! which just hit 32k miles, just so much fun to hit the twisties has the tech I need but never use and with the mods I have is a bike that basically hangs with any liter machine unless we are looking at top end roll runs but that's not my riding style. I guess to each their own right. Ehhh long winded comment lol. Cheers

I wouldn’t say pointless, but I hear you. For some people they can still be the right bike. I really like the idea of the Kawi 636 as a track bike (or street bike). It seems like a sweet spot and a good value. I rode the Aprilia 660s and really like them too. They felt faster than what the numbers say and were fun.

i AGREE i own a 2014 R1 and i will never go back unless its a second bike, 600's are plenty for the street but once you get used to the power of a Liter bike ( within the speed limits) you really don't want anything else. Plus the Cross Plane is amazing as well as Duc V4 and the RSV4

I agree with all your points, I own a zx6r and love it more than anything else in my life but still agree with everything you said. - I am 6 foot 4 and long rides absolutely kill my back, < 1 hour rides its no biggie though. - What you described is exactly how i felt on the liter bike i got to test ride (rsv4 1100 factory) from 4000 rpm it felt like it was pulling at full force, I had so much fun riding that liter bike when i got back on my zx6r it felt so different. I dont think ill ride a liter again i dont wanna ruin my 636 lol - i wish my 636 had more tech, its just got abs, tc, and quickshifter up. The tech on liter bikes is crazy how advanced it is. I owned a kawasaki 650 (first bike) and planned on getting 1000 next until i got to test ride a 600 and a 1000, 600s are FAST and i wanted a bike that is great in twisties. One day I will own a 1000 but im totally happy with my zx6r. Also when did you move to tampa? I live here too, were you talking about north run loop in your vid, thats a fun ass ride through some twisties but 3 hours of that on my zx6r is brutal on my back

Depends really,you really don’t need more then a 600 on the streets. 155 is fast enough. Tampa and st.Pete have A-LOT of old people that are looking to pull out in front of you. that is why we have one of the most fatalities around. You have a solid point,if you are a bigger dude then you need a little bit more comfort.But most of the time if you are only riding in the city you cant really use all of that power the 1000cc have. I think it also depend where you live,Hillsborough and Pinellas People hate motorcycle. It will be their fault and will still blame you because all they listen to there Facebook group complaining they hear racing on Gandy bridge. So they blame all MC. I started off with 2004 busa and then got a 2009. Couldn't see my big self 6'1" 230lbs on a 600. So the 1k would suit me just for that reason. Rode a 600 and was cramped but could throw it around in the twisties. 1k for me or Busa

Agree with the torque aspect of it. But with that same argument, going to something like the RS660 that has the most tech of all 600. True it’s not an inline 4 but literally just 2lbs ft of torque less than the zx-6 I’m mean it’s not a bad gig. Of course can always upgrade to it’s bigger monster sibling the V4

I had a 650 with probably 70bhp, then moved to a 1000c, i now have a 2023 Hayabusa. I have so much more fun now. But also, my 1000c and Busa can keep up with my mates on quick bikes.

Depends on factors like rider size, the city you are in, and type of riding you do. Some key factors for someone like me who is clocking in @ 5’9” and 160lbs in NYC: 600 is cheaper, smaller, and can keep up with the 1k boys on these streets and highways, given the amount of traffic and how short our straightaways are. Now, if I was a bigger dude, living in a state or city with longer straightaways, wider highways, and less congestion/ traffic, then the 1k might be a better choice… maybe…

I think the 750-955 range is the sweet spot. Bikes those sizes tend not to be as heavy as a 1000 but still carry enough torque to put around on the streets. Panigale V2 for instance faster than all 600s on the market yet it feels like an R3 on seat. You can throw the bike around and it does exactly what you want it to do. Obviously we all end up on 1000s at some point cause ultimately a 1000 is going to have everything you need. But i know a lot of individuals will argue that they’ll never sell their 700-900 just due to the rideability factor.

The tech part is what bothers me the most. Beginners are more pushed to start on smaller bikes but the smaller bikes lack the tech you need if put into a situation. Yeah smaller bikes will get you in trouble slower but you are still in trouble and lacking full skills so the assist of tech can help. Just my opinion.

Great video. I'm 6'2 190 and I am looking at the Zx6r and the ZX10r. Trying to figure out which one to get. I had a 400 and I got a 650 currently. I set on both bikes and both were comfortable. I'm in Cincinnati and we have a lot of curvy roads and I like to enjoy those. I seen guys wipe out on 1000's in the curves. What you say to that. I know you were in KY and I rode a lot of the back roads there and had fun.

I'm afraid I have to disagree I believe it all depends on the bike model for example a 08 cbr600rr is way more comfortable than an 08 R6 by far. Also just simply swapping to a more comfortable seat will do the work. A 1000 is much heavier and a 600 I rather take a 600 for a longer ride since it's lighter and more agile. I do own multiple cc size bikes so I'm speaking with experience. If you want a great comfortable sports bike think about kawasaki zzr series.

I agree with what you have said in relation to 600 vs 1000's even though I have never owned a 600. I had 2 750's though before moving to a liter bike.
