I don't believe this at all. The IRS already knew she owned the business under her name. They know she has a TV show because that would be listed as additional income from royalties that the network has to report. I highly doubt she was convicted because the IRS man saw a TV commercial. That's not how it works.

Everyone has asked me loads of times to explain why Abby is going to jail, and since there are hundreds of comments asking me to explain, I thought it would wrap the confusion up if I did a whole video on it. Hope this has explained it a little simpler for you guys since this whole case is very confusing to understand. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I will answer (if I know the answer!!!)
There is a distinct difference between JAIL and PRISON. A jail sentence is 1 year or less, a prison sentence is more than 1 year. Abby was sentenced 366 days so she would go to prison, not jail.
I think she was misinformed regarding her bankruptcy and a little bit nativity on her part to a certain extent. Personally I think the 365 days in prison is justifiable for what she did but I don't think she should have the probation after her release. She's being fined accordingly and has to pay back.

I definitely think abby should go to jail. She broke the law and like everybody else she has to pay for it. She needs to learn from her mistakes so she won't think about doing something like that again. BTW thanks for clearing things up :)
They would have to do this in my country too. People driving with no license, being drunk and killing innocent people get maybe a few months of jail and that's it.
*LONG STORY SHORT* Abby wasn’t getting enough money from her show to pay her taxes (She owed abt 400k ) She decided to Call it a bankrupt. She created a *SECRET* account which had over 700k. Then bad luck for Abby the man that was interviewing her came across an AD from her show, so he figured she must be earning a lot more money. She got caught and she’s served 1 yr. 1 day in jail. -YW-

You shouldn’t be saying “Abby had bad luck” and “If that commercial wouldn’t of aired at that moment she would be fine,” you’re acting like it’s a bad thing she got caught. It’s good she got caught, she’s a criminal and deserves to be in jail/prison. There’s millions of people that REALLY can’t afford their taxes and need to file bankruptcy! That’s a horrible thing Abby did.
She was just saying that Abby got caught in the heat of the moment and had bad luck with her little white lie. She wasn’t saying she didn’t need to go to jail, it WAS bad luck for her.
Actually, Abby should consider herself LUCKY. Here’s why. If Abby haven’t been caught right then and there, she would have most likely made more money, and punishment could’ve been a lot worse for Abby. Lucky that she only had to spend a year in jail time.

Dear DanceSnapz. I got sucked in to a ABBY hole looking at EVERY video concerning this event. Abby isn't going to JAIL she is going to PRISON. PRISON is totally different then Jail. PRISON has fewer guards for more inmates and is for longer duration. Abby was sentence to 366 days anything less then that is a jail sentence. The judge purposely sentenced her to 366 days so she would be in prison not jail. In most states the moment you enter the jail your sentence is automatically cut in half. I'm not sure where she is sentenced to but she will probably be out in half her time unless she gets herself involved in trouble in prison. Then she might get more time because she wasn't following the rules. Stating that she is going to JAIL is WRONG and that is a really irritating mistake people make A LOT. That is like calling a Oscar winning role a bit cameo role. Or saying a Dad who is at home with his kids is babysitting. He's not he is parenting. Please quit miss informing you're audience of untrue facts. Prison is where she is going NOT JAIL. Thanks for your time.
I personally think that only people who are a threat to others (murderers, abusers, violent people, etc) should go to jail. For other crimes, I think there should be another form of punishment that isn't as bad as jail
She did all that for a good cause. She loved what she did. She didn't want to loose it. The government is a giant asshole. All the want is money. And the money doesn't even go where it needs to. They spend it on stupid shit. That I why, I wanna live off the grid. But stuff that I need, then just live in a house where nobody can find me. I hope Abby comes back and is stronger than ever.
I think she shouldn't have been in jail for so long but deserves it for a decent amount of time why didn't they investigate the accountant if he allegedly told her to file for bankruptcy? its kinda partially his fault if he did tell her to (i mean Abby might be lying?)
Honestly so pissed at the poeple who dont think she should serve time!! She commited a federal crime and just because she has a tv show doesnt mean she should be forgiven and the whole thing forgotten.

Abby worked hard on dance moms, + she was ended up on the jail. I was worried she would not get her award as being a cool leader, being strict which helped the dance mom's cast motivate their learning skills and for owning a tv merchandise.
She didn’t commit a crime by yelling at a child. It isn’t assault. Assualt would be hitting, punching, kicking, or slapping the child. None of which happened. She just yelled at them. That isn’t a crime; although it is horrible for the children she didn’t harm them, meaning that that wasn’t a reason to go to jail. She went because of bankruptcy fraud. Where she claimed to have nothing, but was actually hiding over 750,000 dollars in her secret bank account. So that’s why they took her to jail.
I think she should pay double the money and instead of prison she should have a 150 days in jail. She abused the girls emotionally and mentally. She kind of deserves it :/
Lara M just because someone's mean does not mean they deserve to go to jail. If anything you should be thankful of abby for making those girls who they are. They wouldn't be where they are right now if it weren't for her.
