I play that sort of Hybrid POV for Helldivers. 3rd person helps me have sittuational awareness when im moving throughout a mission, but when i need that accuracy, aiming and my scope/weqpon sight popping up helps
Helldivers gets it right with the primary focus on third person, with the option to let you switch to first person aiming to land more precise shots. RDR2 and GTAV’s options to switch between first and third at will was also brilliant. Even going back to something like Rainbow Six Vegas, a first person shooter that still understood that a third person perspective can make for a superior in-the-moment experience
RSV's third-person was to get the casual gamers who can't handle a challenging game. It was simply for looking around corners and over objects without being vulnerable.
They also dont have to dial in the intense detail on everything in third person. In first person you look at the grass and want it to look like grass. In third person its 15 feet away from the camera who cares as long as the overall image looks good. More resources in development and less strain on hardware
For me personally, there are times where I forget I'm playing a game when its first person. Like its me in the game which adds to the immersion. In third person it always feel like I'm playing a character. Also gunplay always feels better in first person to me. There's no way anyone on this planet can convince Destiny (STILL has the best gunplay on the market) would be better in third person. However each perspective has its place. I can't imagine not being able to turn the camera around to see the explosion while I'm running away from a stratagem I just threw.
See i'm the opposite. I get bored in first person watching a gun bounce on my screen for an entire game. I enjoy the talent that it takes to create immersive 3rd person gameplay.
I can't wait to get my hands on this game. It seems like they took inspiration from Max Payne 3 which has been regarded as one of the best 3rd person shooters.
Immersion. War game. Check. Stealth is a true mechanic and even your uniform layout keeps you laying in a puddle as they walk right on by... Everything simple basic mandatory weapons mod there right away while in game. No stupid grind of entire armory just to get a flip down bipod.
3rd person has always been superior. I am an advocate for options, so If someone wants to play in 1st person they should be able to do so. It's just not the way.
I absolutely love hell divers 2 I’m having a blast. But I think the most superior perspective of a game is how pubg is. 3rd person with the ability to seamlessly transition to first and back and forth. The next ghost recon needs to copy how pubg did it. The gun play is number 1 reason that game blew up.
3rd person games all the way. They can add 1st person option if they have too I suppose 🤷 but nah. 3rd person always better. And you get to see your character and clothing etc. And if it's a girl character your playing, that booty LOL haha 😅
@GmoneyMozart That's why when I got wildlands when it came out and breakpoint, I always played as a female character, much rather stare at a girl booty in tight tactical pants LOL. It's just a better gaming prospective to play in.
Damn I just got own so hard by the bots the game crashed to desktop lol. How do you even do Automatons at extreme? I can't imagine bots on Helldiver... TBH the quality and good design of the game extend beyond just viewpoint tho. Regardless, third person is done really right in this game.
Did not like it due to the grind and less xp. I was doing more of the effort while other players just ran to the missions rather than getting the other challenges.
Not exactly, it's cause the game is fun if there was a mechanic that doesn't need to be there they didn't add it in ; no pay to win microtransactions, just pure unadulterated fun like the old days when games were good
"...like you're watching a freaking movie." Yes, exactly. You prefer to watch games; I prefer to play games. You want to look at a hero; I want to be a hero. I use a wider FOV than that, in first-person. Most of the best selling games are in first-person. Your inability to accept reality is not proof that it isn't real. Third-person games need to add a first-person view, but first-person games don't need to add a third-person view. TP games need to make the enemies weak, especially when there are indoor areas where your avatar is visible long before your camera enters the room. Dang, it's not easy enough that you can look around objects without exposing yourself; they also need to make the AI slow. All of the best TP games could work in FP, but not all of the best FP games could work in TP. Do you see how silly that movement looks, even when you're not running into objects because of the disconnection from the avatar?
People who claim to feel 'total immersion' and 'forget they're not really there' all just have early onset dementia. It's not good to have dissociation from the real world my dude.
3rd person is always best for me! But all shooters should give the o po ton for both views just like Helldivers 2 does. You can still aim in 1st person, but the running , picking up items, melee kills, crawling, crouching etc is much better! Especially seeing all your armors and helmets you can choose! It also highlights just how much bigger some of these bugs and robots are over you! After playing Helldivers 2, makes me sad regarding the news about Respawn's Mandalorian game they are working on. This would be the perfect view and formula for a Mandalorian game, with 3rd person view, different armor sets and helmets, with numerous weapons and gadgets to choose from yet they decided to make it an FPS shooter smh
"Real reason" - it's not a dull microtransaction based game that isn't trying to gut us of our money with a fun gameplay loop that isn't Far Cry 3 clone #48394951? Yeah it's definitely the third person...
