As a witch myself, let me explain the broomstick. It is used to sweep negative energy away and is sometimes kept above the doorway. They are also used for Hedgeriding/Journeying. This is the process of flying into an different realm figurtivly
As a Christian God has saved me from death many times. I have seen my guardian angel with halo. All you need to get rid of negative energy is Jesus. And oh yes I left my body in 1983 and was inside the eye of hurricane Alicia. Oh yeah and out in ocean with other families we prayed and God opened a big hole in the very dark sky and the sun shone on all of us.also warnings from God to do or not to do something has also saved me. Oh yeah and did I say try Jesus and give Him your life. He is all powerful and all loving!!!
Sweetie, brooms ARE the coolest magical staffs you could ever get a hold of. You can do SO much more with a broom. You can do everything a staff can , PLUS, you can clean house. Both literally and figuratively. You want to get rid of a pest? Brooms are literally designed to do just that. Dirt gone, pests gone, I’d like to see a plain old staff do all that.
Yes, I remember having to read The Crucible in high school, although there was one occasion where we were privy to listening to it on cassette. Oh, and the movie with Winona Ryder as Abigail came out when I was in the 9th grade.
Till this video, the best explanation I had heard was that the broom was a symbol of the feminine - are at least a female’s expected roll in medieval society. A modern term that can be applied to supposed witches is anti-establishment, in that the existence of the witch was breaking God’s laws for the Earth. While the understanding was that the witch got their powers from Satan, the perception was that the witch was flaunting her unnatural, feminine based powers, in the face of the masculine controlled societal order. The broom was supposed to be a visual metaphor of her powers. I will need to spend some tome cross referencing these two ideas to see if there is any connection. I had not previously heard of brooms being used for… self stimulation, but it would make a lot of sense that if this was occurring that the church of the time would feel threatened by even this small act of female independence.
Another reason for brooms -women. sexism. women clean. cleaning involves sweeping.// As for the Pointy Hats? Pointy hats were actually the "in" thing or the Popular Fashion of the day. That's literally it. So I guess Witches were just fashion trendy at the time (and always!) also imma witch, Eclectic tho~ ^^;
Pointy hats were used in illustrations at the time to add ridicule along with the ugly, warty old women thing, because the fashion had changed from high cone headdresses sometimes draped with ribbons to more sedate headwear. Hence, witches were out of touch with fashion.

Literally came from The Earl of Sandwich who didn't want to stop playing cards so he demanded his entire meal be placed between 2 slices of bread. Now he had veggies, meats, cheese, and sauces between the several sandwiches he consumed and a meal for a busy human was created.
This was funny, but more like the gallows in Salem. You should read Hammer of Witches....Malleus Maleficarum. Written by a German Catholic clergyman of course. Thus the mass hysteria ensued!! 🔥🧹🪄 Thankfully spectral evidence can't be used anymore...Imagine if it was. ⭐ I think you'll do amazing things on RU-vid BTW. Well off I go... 🧹
