Nice content, nice to have someone on youtube actually looking to improve the viewer rather than improving there own brand, looking forward to the journey..
Fabulous advice thanks, you really helped me out tremendously with my game. I’m 70 years old in a month and I’ve never played so well before. I have a renewed passion for playing now thanks to you!
I've watched many videos on slicing. Your video has explained it the best! Your methods of teaching are amazing, but I believe it's your sincerity about truly wanting to help us become better golfers that make your videos special! I'm glad I came across your channel. Keep those awesome videos coming!
Very kind words B.L. I’ve always been heart centered and I believe everyone has a better golfer within them! Thanks for watching! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
thank you for doing a detailed explanation on this... this is extremely helpful. I am loving your channel! what a trooper to stay out in the rain... we love your dedication!
The “Rain Lesson!” I remember it well! I’ve started so I’ll finish! lol The geese liked the weather more than me but it worked out! Thanks for watching! Coach A. 🏌️♂️🙏🏻⛳️
Thx Andrew. My golf enjoyment is way up since I have been applying your drills. Better yet, when I slump I go back to your drills & guess what....the drills still work.
I have watched a few of your videos this evening and found them all to be very informative and very interesting to listen to. Many thanks for persisting in the rain.
I’m loving your content. Great instruction and graphics. Excellent. So refreshing. I remember when I started playing junior golf, my teacher had me doing your hitchhiker drill with my feet together. I was hitting it purer and farther than my full swing. I’ll be watching all of your videos.
Mr.Emery, thank you for such a clear explanation on fixing the slice, and providing these drills. I feel that you made this video expressly for me….thank you! I look forward to your continued teaching videos
Excellent video as usual, u keep it simple and explain the drills so easily to put into your practice routine and then onto the course, please keep the content going
Love the content on this channel. Kudos for filming through the rain which steadily picked up through the video, then seemed to taper off just as you were finishing!
Got a little wet but wasn’t going to stop!! 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻So…..Utah!?? Heard you guys got some serious powder last week?!? I’m an age inappropriate snowboarder. Love Park City!! Amazing place. Thanks for watching! Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻🏂
For me the wrists have 3 movements: -Ulnar/radial deviation (the one you talk about) -Flexion/Extension -Rotation (really forearm rotation) Could you explain your ideas and relations among these 3 movements? Thanks
Thank you Andrew ,I love Honesty, it makes teaching, coaching excepted by the mind, outstanding job! you know I know there isn't a golf instructor reinventing the golf swing, but if you knowledgeable and confident in your knowledge you make a great teacher to me , and that the difference with you , just getting the information out to us in a way we understand it completely, I definitely follow a few golf instructors on utube and your a Gem man , no doubt about it, if I practice the basics that your teaching and leave my ego at home which I have done already at the range ,I've caught 5 or 6 of your videos and my ball striking definitely improved 100% , so that it out of me with another Thank you ,keep doing what your doing please !
Thanks, Robin! The best coaches meet you where you are, not where they are! The Art of teaching is finding what works for your student. There are a lot of wonderful coaches out there - and Mike Malaska is definitely one of them. Thanks for watching Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Thanks Michael! Grips were so wet at the end I almost let the club fly on a few of those swings!! Now that would have been a great release drill!?!?🤣🤣🤣
I really did find this video very interesting. The content is wide ranging so I intend to grab little bits at a time. On the course yesterday I applied the left hand grip by the side and to be honest it made me feel much more comfortable and the grip was in my fingers more than ever before. Had a great round. Thanks for the tip, looking forward to following your vdos.
I believe these are the bare-bones truths of golf basics. Thanks for not pushing what's unachievable for most of us. I agree with you and Mike Malaska - majority of us "casuals" would gain more if we educate our hands and wrists first; using the levers more efficiently. I also think this is a more body-friendly & sustainable technique. Thanks and stay dry, good sir.
I watched 3 of your videos today and then went to the golf range and "o" boy what a total difference in distance and contact and your drill and the way you explain the golf swing is like a breath of fresh air. Many Many thanks .
I'm almost 73 years old. I've been playing golf for almost 30 years. I rarely slice even with my driver. I'm about a 12 - 14 handicap on 5500 - 6000 yard courses. My faults tend to be pulls, pushes and hooks. Looking forward to more instruction from you addressing those issues.
Hi Andrew, thanks again for a great video. I've just been at the range doing the left, straight, right drill and what I noticed was for me it feels like to close the club face I need to release earlier to rotate the club more. I did some of the half drills and then a few full shots and hit some genuinely fizzing draws. Same with my woods. The draw shot came and went, so there is definitely work to be done, but it was the start of getting a feeling. Thanks again!
This remind me of Jim Flick and Bob Toski. The major speed producer of the golf swing is the hands/wrists. The movement of the hands and arms are supported by the movements of the body. Not vice versa. thanks Andrew!
Thanks Dave! Those guys are both terrific instructors. I don’t prescribe to ‘one’ method of swinging although I believe the vast majority of golfers need to educate their hands and arms for sure! I have elite golfers that I coach who often get the club stuck underneath which leads to pushes and hooks. I’m helping them stabilize their club-face by improving their body dynamics. I also have slicers that I’m helping who tend to spin too early - overuse their body and the journey to better ball striking for them is completely different! It’s a little more nuanced than everyone should swing this way or that way!! As a coach I’m all about finding a swing that works for you! I hope that you can use a pearl or two in my videos to help improve your golf too! Thanks for the support and for watching. Best. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
Just subbed, thanks for the great content. I am 74 and just started playing again after lower back surgery a few years ago. I can see how using my hands and forearms can be used to help my release and pick up speed. Also takes pressure off my back, it’s a win , win!
Spot on Bruce. When you’ve taught at a Country Club FULL TIME for 20 years you learn to be creative! I’ve dealt with every conceivable ailment known to man, from MS, strokes (paralysis), Parkinson’s, and broken joints in about every part of the body imaginable. Without great hands and arms believe me you have nothing! Educate them, and use ‘em!! Thanks for watching! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Great lesson. Definitely the wettest golf instruction video ever and with shades on : ) But it works. My drives are longer by 30% thanks to "speeding up the arms" rather than the body. Also slice is gone. Amazing. Sharing with my friends .
Following along but have pull/ pull hook issue so searching your videos, do you or could you address this issue also please, great content I am getting more internal vs external right arm, thank you!
Hard to say without seeing!! Face closed for sure so likely too much face roll (lead wrist supination) through impact. It’s also possible your grip is too strong! It’s important to make sure that your ‘trail’ wrist isn’t too far under the grip!!! (This is very common!) Keep your trail hand to the side of the grip and get your trail ‘v’ to your chin!! Thanks for watching! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Thank you. I did the drills along with watching using my sons old short driver. Ironically I hit balls in the sim today, just driver and 3w tee shots and my big take from today was release. So this helps a ton. Also the hip turn. I've flared before but felt I lost control/ got out of sync and got stuck a lot but I'll definitely revisit that this coming week. Stay dry.
I had a little rain in Seminole today, almost an inch. The golf course is 8 miles north of Seminole . I'm going to the golf course tomorrow and see how much the course got .👍👏🙏
I'm new to your videos and I'm already impressed. I'm a 75 year old Marine Corps veteran and your instruction is reminding me of the fundamentals I employed when I was playing much better golf. Some of your fundamentals remind me of the success I had with the "stork drill", the feet together drill and the "L to L" drill. I have subscribed and will be watching your videos religiously. I'm impressed by the fact that you persevered in spite of the rain. Glad I didn't have to pick up your bar tab after this video.
Thank you sir, and thank you for your service. I’m very grateful for your kind words. My #1 rule has always been to NOT over instruct. That approach has served me very well over the years! I think the ‘Art of teaching’ is to communicate using plain and simple language, and to make impactful changes in the shortest time possible. Thanks for subscribing! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Absolute joy to watch. Thank you Andrew! From watching this video, I'll have a little better idea to see what may be causing the hook that creeps into my swing at times. Now if I can only figure out how to swing faster and not hook with my driver LOL PS You're a trooper brother hanging in there in the rain and not letting it phase you God bless! LOL
Thanks for the kind words. So many reasons for a hook with the driver! Some ideas - Start with your alignment. Use alignment rods, always! If you’re getting closed you’re asking for trouble. Are you getting stuck on your back foot? Should you be drawing your irons and then setting up and working a pull/fade release pattern with your driver? Should you speed up your body rotation? All good questions and golf food for thought! As Mr Faldo used to say, “If you don’t feel confident on the course that you can hit the fairway, hit hundreds of Drivers on the range until you think you can!” Good luck and thanks for watching! Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
I have suceed to change my plane with attention to the shoulder in the dowswing but pull it not draw it. I think the passive wrist are the Keys just as you show us. Thank's
Thanks for watching! The most overlooked cause of pulls is a closed face at address! Remember to aim the club where you want the ball to “start”, not where you want it to finish! Try aiming the club face a few degrees to the right. It will feel open but could help a lot. Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
Well, that is one way to have the range to yourself...except the geese of course LOL. Just came across you on Utube, going to hit balls later today and am really excited. You have definitely dispelled some things I was thinking in the swing. Thank you.
I've watched all your video lessons, they are helping me a lot, BUT, PLEASE, keep them short. two 10 mins is better than the last 23 min. Bit too much going on there. Still a fan.
Great feedback and thanks for watching Bob. To your valuable point - I’ll be keeping most around 5 minutes for sure with the occasional longer video like the last one! Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
I think a lot of it is lie angle. Especially with irons. I used to feel the toe dig and face open when I took a divot. That was an ah ha moment to me that the toe was too low plane was too high coming in. I lowered my plane and almost instantly the slice with irons was gone.
Hi Romeo, thanks for watching! I had some growing pains when I first started (no mic!). If you go to my channel you’ll find that I have fixed the problem. All my most recent videos have good volume. Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
