There is only one Shantaram and I doubt even a "great" film could do it justice.

Such a great book. I bought 15 copies of it after I read it in 2005 to give to friends. They loved it too. I have never been able to keep a copy for myself since ppl who borrow it do so in perpetuity. I'm unsure how a TV show would do justice to this book. Somehow I don't see that happening.

deep respect and appreciation for your passion for Shantaram; I too loved the book - and the then lady in my life read it from cover to cover; and then it's sequel - waking up early and reading for 10-14 hours a day to complete it!!! I shared the book with several other people including a guy that was so inspired that he's been living in Goa sincec early 2020 - and even himself wrote a book, apart from working on his music!!!

I Have watched all episodes of shantaram so far on appletv, as a huge fan of the book(read it 4 times) I am enjoying the show although prabu and didier's characters look totally different from how they are described, Karla is beautiful as described, but they changed so much in the show, like leopolds been called "Reynolds"!!!! And tons of other things, but it's still very good show,

One of the greatest novels I've ever read. But at 1000 pages or so, it's brave to try to 'movie' it. Might have been better as a TV series.

Man....I'm so sad there won't be a season 2. This show was a GEM among the TRASH that comes out these days. I'm gonna have to read the book.

The book is so much better than the series, a lot has been omitted from the series. If you don't like reading, I would recommend listening to audiobook

When I moved back to the States from India after a long time I was given a copy of Shantaram. It is very much what it is. Masterful! A real treasure.

I've absolutely love the show Just finished the finale. I really want to buy this book. I guess I'm glad I did it backwards and watch the show first i because you know nothing ever stands close to a book

I read Shantaram - when I was in an Aussie jail (MRRC Silverwater). Btw...he WAS recaptured. After his India and Afghanistan escapades, he eventually got caught. That's when.he wrote the book - when .he was back in jail. Interested to see the series. But ultimately, I expect it to disappoint.

@@GDR_Shantaram Without Shantaram I would never of gone to India but man what an experience. Loved visiting all the places in the book in Mumbai. I have to say tho the main slum was an eye opener and i have to say I never really felt safe there but all in all it was a good experience. Thank you 🙏
