Kid worked his butt of athletically and academically to get to his dream college just for the program to get cut. Shoutout to Izzy Martinez though he breeds a lot of monsters out of Montini and Izzy Style

Big shout out to Flo for bringing this to light. An extremely sad and unfortunate ordeal this young dude had to go through. The sacrifices of the parents and everyone else on his journey is incredible. The sad truth is that wrestling doesn’t generate the flow of money that even a low level football program does. This needs to change! Flo you guys are getting there! Keep putting the spotlight on wrestling and giving it a platform it deserves!

Never knew he was from Abq. Crazy journey and more crazy now that he’s at Iowa. There’s a lot A LOT of those types of wrestlers hidden in NM. They need the clinics and resources, like anywhere the best one’s leave for the money and support.

I wrestled with Izzy whilst I was at montini, fantastic coach, saved my life. Izzy is truly the salt of the earth.

Real Woods and family are incredibly inspirational. This is an amazing story about true love and sacrifice in a family. Real's father saw the potential in his son and the desires of his son's heart. He helped train his son up and then let him go to achieve his dreams. This should definitely be made into a feature film. And to think his Mom also let her son go away during his high school years. Wow! Amazing! And Real is an Awesome man! His drive, talent, determination, sacrifice, love for family/friends/wrestling, zest for life, confidence, etc are absolutely EXTRAordinary!

Stanford needs more money? They need better people in charge making smarter decisions Is what they need.

Always loved seeing those National Champs from Harvard or those AAs from Stanford they used to always have those Gentry type 157 pounders. How cool to get a fantastic degree and wrestle! 157 always has a Harvard or Stanford stud back in the day and a Boise State dude that was huge for the weight hahah.

I know this ended on a sad note, but it should not be taken that way at all. The young man achieved his dream. Now, let’s see what doors open for him . I expect nothing but the best from him. He will overcome. Wonderful family and people in video!!! Very uplifting video.

This makes me sad. We need to start marketing the sport better. If wrestling brought in money we wouldn’t have to see programs get cut so easily. It’s honestly depressing that we see our programs get cut, weight classes eliminated. We almost lost wrestling from the Olympics.

What a low blow from Stanford university. Should have at least kept the program for the young man that were already recruited. I guess the Stanford people who makes the decisions aren’t that smart after all. Again, what a low blow to all the young wrestlers who sacrificed so much to get into this program.

Love the idea about crowdfunding to keep Stanford wrestling but in reality, the money would do better going to a program that wants to keep wrestling. There is no way Stanford is broke. Great Story!! My heart goes out to any of the student athletes in the past couple years! I can't imagine working my whole life to obtain a goal and dream, just to be shutdown with no recourse. SAD!! My advice as a former college wrestler at a prestigious university: don’t put all of your eggs in one basket like this. Focus on and apply to at least a few places. Even if you’re really good and really smart and spent your whole like wanting to go to special place, you may not get in.

Are there not Stanford alumni billionaires that could scrape off a couple million and get wrestling back online? I mean its Stanford. There isn't one person?

Maybe it's time to look at another goal. You can't wrestle you're whole life.
