The South Side of Belize City may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of mingling with strangers. Nevertheless, I was up for a new challenge in one of the city's more notorious areas, where I could connect with residents one-on-one and listen to their stories.
Although a quick Google search of "Is South Side Belize Safe?" will show you many warnings of robbery, kidnapping, and murder... I refused to let that dictate my actions and continued to explore the Belize City with an open mind.
