The Real Subnautica Degasi Story in their own words. 

I think in a way, the Degasi crew reflects the player's journey. We start the game cautiously like the old man, then start exploring and learning about the world with excitement like Bart, and by the end of the game, we are fearless mercenaries, ready to kill whatever we want like Maida. 💪💪💪

I think it would be pretty cool if they made a game or dlc where you get to play as the one of the members of the degasi. And switch the map around. Like a different crash site

The thing is the Elder Torgal did certainly have skills in organizing and task prioritization but he let preconceptions cloud his CRM as far as Maida, each had valuable skills. Bart was observant and intelligent backed up with a solid education, it allowed him to conduct solid research on the environment around them. Maida was tougher than old boots, willing to take calculated risks that where within her abilities and extremely pragmatic. If he applied less bias towards Maida and saw her value he could have managed his Crew Resources sooner, if he had doubts why hire her in the first place. Great to have the entire story in Chronological order, thank you.

This is very interesting. Although reapers do have echolocation and she could have found the youngling that way, that area is very small and somewhat far from the crash site also there is a ghost leviathan there and it would have picked up on an adult reaper screaming. In the aftermath dougal talks about thinking he saw a light and that something must have his trail, most likely he saw a warper and considering he is infected, he was killed by one too. After Bart goes to the surface he talks about having visions which were probably from the sea emperor. Taking all this into account we can think that the last the ghost leviathans weren't around in the crater before the crash, and that the crashsite didnt use to have so many reaper before the crash. They were all around or focused in the mountains. After the Aurora crashes reapers must have heard it and surrounded it leaving most of the crater reaperless. The crash destroyed barts last habitat, and the debris of the ship that fell thru the craters and into the void must have alerted the ghosts into checking closer to the crater.

I don’t know what Bart was on when he said the growth rates aren’t fast enough because I can live forever on a single grow bed with potatoes in my cyclops. Also I know that it’s so the game will work this is a joke.

It's interesting to hear this all at once. It was half a year of playing before I started paying attention to the importance of the Degasi story. I started the game with the attitude of the old man but by the end I had the attitude of Maida. By the end I was killing everything in the ocean.

Loved the game but I'm terrified of the leviathans so I always had trouble fully exploring all the interesting places. Thanks for putting this together, it's SUPER well done!

This is the saddest story I have ever heared, the "dissaster" PDA was so sad, I can't imagine being a pilot and loosing everything around you: you're spaceship, you're crew, never being able to see you're son agian, a hired mercenary who risked their life to protect you. Even once I escape I can't forget the Degasi crew

As much as people praise Marguerite, She doomed the rest of Degasi with her escapades.

it took me such a long time to find will's stuff ontop of the mountain and when i first played i hadnt even found the second island before i stumbled across the first under water base. watching this was so good bc it was so out of order for me when i first played the game.

The Degasi storyline was 100% complete with the first game - every character had their time, backstory and their fates were clear, for at least Bart and Paul. Regarding Maida, the chances of her passing away, according to the last Paul's log entry, were basically 100%. But here's the plot hole: the Reaper managed to take Maida from the Deep Grand Reef all the way to the Void, and swin long enough so Ghost Leviathans weren't able to get them; and then she used the Reaper as a boat (if you kill a Reaper in-game, they sink, they do NOT have buyoancy) for three weeks, while the current took her all the way to the southern hemisphere of the planet, making basically a 180 around the entire 4546B - and managed to get past the Void Chelicerates and the void waters of Sector Zero and getting to land... PLUS she went BACK for the reaper skull PAST the void waters. All in the while, it was NEVER explained how she got cured of Kharaa, when Bart succumbed to it on the Floating Island. They used the movie troop of "if you did NOT see her corpse or her death with your own eyes, it didn't happend". The same could've applied to Second Officer Keen and CTO Yuu, they were attacked by a Reaper aswell and their status is "Lost at sea", but we can basically confirm they died from the attack or drowned. It's really hard to believe Maida's story and take it seriously... I know Below Zero went through development hell and in it's final state is basically a DLC, and while it didn't reach the heights of the first game, it was an okay-ish and i'm glad Unknown Worlds was able to release the game and keep doing that they do. I hope that Subnatica 3 could be a big success.

comparing this with below zero, I wonder what when wrong in the writting, considering it's just a subplot and a similar quality story could have been easly added to the sequel

But what about the Sea Dragon?? Reapers don't have tentacles, and we know Sea Dragons will come to the surface to kill them and drag them down. But Paul said that Maida had the piece of scrap metal lodged in its (the tentacled creature) neck. So did she send it running and then return to kill the Reaper? That is the part that never made sense to me.

Maybe humans have a natural immunity to kara. We never see any humans fully die of kara and if so they also had blood loss. That explains how riley and margarita survied for so long. This also explains why the artitechs died wout so fast. Maybe karra cant really kill but makes you very weak.

Maida bringing an injured leviathan back to their primary habitat was definitely a mistake. You don't bring an injured probably bleeding leviathan back to your primary habitat. That's just asking for another leviathan to follow you home. The smart course of action would've been to build a separate habitat some distance away and take the creature there to study it. Then if things go horribly wrong you have somewhere to escape to while the creature is distracted destroying your research habitat.

Some players took marguerit serious about killing the monsters until there are no more monsters

It’s sad that they had to wait 10 years before anyone even saw the planet they were on. Expecting it to only take a few months or two to three years.

Aaah ok. I've been playing both games back to back and hadn't even realised Marguriet was in the first game. Doh! Were the voices on the original logs or have they been added afterwards? Obviously it's the same voice actor so maybe I just didn't listen to the audio logs.
