Just as Skip Smith of the RU-vid channel "The Vilages News Update" explains and so do I, The Villages (TV) is not ever going to say anything negative or truthful or bad about The Villages, and so it is up for you newcomers and people thinking about wanting to possibly moved to TV to know what you might be getting into should you move to Florida and The Villages. Buyer Beware

Skip has a couple of excellent vlogs - he is excellent, tells it like it is and hosts entertaining porch sittin!!!! He’s been in and around The Villages for probably 22 or 23 years, permanently or full time for the past 10 years. A seasoned veteran in terms of experience, like yourself.

This is great! I have been studying The Villages and it’s great to get a counter opinion on things. Whenever I see content I feel like I am only getting half the story. This seems like the other half of the story. This video should have started like the classic Paul Harvey saying “And now the rest of the story.”.

What I'm hearing in this video is typical of any place you go where there are people crowed together (I'm sure his complaints are accurate). There are always clicks and closed social groups, friction, disagreements and so on. I usually see these types of issues and complaints from people who rely too heavily on people surrounding them (neighbors and other village residents). My take on it is to make a life with other like minded individuals (in or out of the Villages) and avoid those that make a career out of ruining your life. It is very hard for me to imagine a community of 150,000 + where I couldn't find someone(s) to spent enjoyable time with. I don't live in the Villages but would consider a winter home here as prices are significantly lower with more amenities than many other places I have looked ... my guess would be others feel the same way. My life is centered around my faith and I enjoy very much those that share the same beliefs.

YOU hit the nail on the head, which is exactly what we have done for the last 15 out of 18 years. We have MANY friends in Orlando, Vero, Sebastian and are hardly ever home, besides I am gone fishing all the time. Fish usually smell after three days, that is, unless your are out catching them.

what you describe can happen anywhere in America......with a population that The Villages has it has the the same problems and issues as any city that size in America...... yes people need to realize it is NOT Perfect and you are Free to leave if you don't like it!!!

Interesting take on the villages, I do believe more goes on there than other you tubers want you to believe, they all want us to think its all rainbows and unicorns. What is your opinion of the homeless and Illegal Immigrants in T.V. As I hear it also is on the rise.

You my friend as SO CORRECT. TV marketing dept points to the flawlessness of TV, but in reality TV is much like any other area of the country because it is MADE UP OF everyone from every other culture and parts of the USA. Having been here for 18 years and owned 4 homes, we have had everything from shootings, killing, people killed by Villager drunk drivers, and JUST THIS WEEK TV in the Marion County part of TV had its very first HOME INVASION of an 80 year old couple that were tied up, threatened and had their money are car stolen. We have a multitude of sexual predators and pedophiles living here. WHY?? Because it is an over 55 community and technically doesn't have "CHILDREN" living here so they are allowed to live here. I say no more, but.....everything that goes on in every other city goes on here, but I will say this; that one the surface at first glance it is beautiful, well-kept, well-manicured place. Roads, sewers general infrastructure is BETTER than any other place in the USA...I mean that sincerely, it is the BEST, but ....it is no different than other parts of America.

The Villages houses over 140,000 people. There are no homeless people walking the streets of my section where I live. Homeless people would not be allowed to camp out on the grounds inside of our community.

We traveled around the country for a few years after retirement in an RV after selling everything. We stayed in different parks during that time. One place we stayed a few times was 55+. We had a good time but noticed there were clicks like in hs and part of it was around 2016 and the politics in that place was horrible with one side, not saying which side, had signs plastered all over and were ridiculously vocal and aggressive. In the beginning we thought to buy something in the park but something kept us from doing so. Looking back I can see we would not have been happy down the road in such an area with only us seniors as company. We eventually found a little stucco house across the street from the Pacific ocean in Oregon. No daily happy hours with music. But, we have neighbors of all ages, weather that is perfect, not too hot, no bugs or gators. Lol. We had visited Fort Lauderdale and enjoyed it but it was during the part of the year with cooler weather. Kathleen

I moved to Rhode Island from Florida and the whole state has clicks. If you arent' from RI you don't ever fit in is what I am told. LOL Anyway, my motto is, "keep more behind the counter than what you put on display" By the way, we are planning on moving to the Villages, so this is a good balance to all the good commentary we hear.

Yes, I'm sure we all know about Skip. However, when I first saw his "news show" he immediately reminded me of that newscaster on Hee Haw (1970s TV show): Charlie Farquharson on KORN TV. Bland, deadpan & boring -- but without the jokes. Skip even kind of looks like Charlie, too. I don't think it's an act (like Hee Haw was of course) since Skip just seem to be that way personality-wise. Regardless, it's "uninspiring" to watch him so I usually don't -- reading about The Villages news in the newspaper is way more preferable. For ME, anyway. -- BR

I enjoy your channel as well as Skips & others. You misspoke saying Skip has only been in TV for 2-3 years, he has been there, I believe longer than you have. I’m pretty sure he’s on his 3rd home.

Skip and Sue Smith have owned 2 different houses over many more years than you give them credit for. A lot of what you say in your video is very true about The Villages itself. Recommend if you choose to talk about other video producers you have your facts straight instead of possibly misinforming viewers.

My sister for some reason gets all the stuff coming from there and it seam they complain all the time there on violations. Plus good luck because my other sister that’s lives there is a as you would say a nut cuddle and I’m sure her nabors have all ready found out just a matter of time before they want to kick her out lol good luck there enjoyed your video

I agree with you that Skip has a pretty good VLOG. He has a pretty dry sense of humor. I've been to the Villages twice this year and met several folks that have lived here for various lengths of time. I enjoyed the hell out of my time visiting the Villages. I went to the craft fair in Sumter Landing and yes it was a bit crowded, but the event was enjoyable none-the-less. Sounds like you have lived here a little too long and are looking for a reason to nitpick the Villages. A mentor guides people through challenges they have experienced which you did not do. You did not provide one positive comment about the Villages. Every community that a person lives has its pluses and minuses. Next video you might try talking a bit about what you do like, what you do enjoy in the Villages.
