And some irony is (most) people that do escape prison are never truly free because they are always suspicious and looking behind their backs to make sure they don't get caught.

Exactly and if you watch Matrix 4, when Neo and Trinity were in the "real world" they reached out to each other and there was an orb of light between their hands. It's no coincidence that in the simulation, the same light appears between their hands! And it's the same light that came out of Neos eyes and mouth in the third movie, and it's not like they implanted light bulbs in his mouth and eyes

This is how I understand it too. It’s all code, even the ones labeled as humans. The simulation runs cycles that allow human code to have experience in different situations. One experience is the real world escape to Zion, just another environment in the matrix. There are no real humans living outside the matrix; the world outside the basis of the simulation, but we have no way of knowing what it’s really like because we don’t see it. For all we know, it could be fine and humans created the matrix themselves.
Good point. I do think that "the real world" is apocalyptic, and the beings in that world have been running simulation to find a solution or just as a way to escape reality: The VR lifestyle.
God is the matrix and you are God and you “created” the matrix and all of the layers of the matrix so that you would forget you are God and everything is you because when you realize that, you won’t be able to play the very intricate, very ingenious game you created for yourself because you remember you’re everything that is and nothing can be outside of you. You keep playing because once you remember, there is nothing else, it’s kind of lonely. Plus, now you (we, I) have to come up with another game. When you’re done playing, you won’t be playing anymore. I’m not sure how that looks here in the supposed real world but I think that’s what Yoda meant. When he said there is no try, only do. You can’t try to stop playing the game… You either are playing or you aren’t.
And really the only measurement there is (if you could call it that) is how close is each human (which are all you) to remembering what is actually going on. Anything that you think is wrong with the world, whether it’s a person you don’t like or a situation or a building you think is ugly, that’s something that you don’t fully accept about yourself and when you truly forgive everything and everyone because they are all you anyway, you ascended to a different level but it’s not necessarily a good thing or a bad thing: It just is. I think that’s what they mean when they say time is illusionary and everything is happening right now everywhere all at once (like that movie which you also created so if you understand it, you’re closer to understanding everything which means you’re closer to ascending - but once you start thinking that’s a “good” thing and just being right where you are in the moment is a “bad” thing (resisting) you start to backtrack because there is no good or bad. Yes, this story is an attempt to make you question reality and our place within it. The movie is symbolically representative of our current predicament. We live in Maya. The illusion, think how all religions and even science is pointing towards the same goal. The effort for the understanding of the true nature of reality, religion is failing, it hasn't woken up the masses, science is hitting dead ends. Jesus was crucified for trying to wake humanity. And the bible turned reality into fiction just like Neo's efforts. Remember how disappointed Neo was to discover his life and effort was turned into fiction. Now image there is an impitus in nature to wake it's self up. What would that look like. In modern times it may look like movies, media, music. The matrix is such a method, look how many of us are exploring the nature of consciousness and reality under the guise of a movie plot, it's literally reverse psychology meta to the plot of the most recent installation.

An explanation for neo's powers in the real world In my opinion, is that we all know that neo and other humans that have holes they aren't purely human, they're somewhat like the androids in dragon ball z like android 17 and 18, so I think since they have electronic parts inside of them, it connects them to the machines even without being plugged directly.
The brain - and the entire human body - actually works with electrical impulses. It can be measured with medical instruments, such as: EEG or EKG We cannot control its magnitude, direction and impact. What if this could be overcome? What if someone could?

Also, nothing like the wireless connection was ever explained in the story so we are just kind of an inventing it to make the story work. The Matrix within the Matrix is actually the simpler and more elegant answer.
I thought about this but when they say “part of Smith and Neo overwrote each other’s code” I assumed Smith’s code was able to manipulate machines in the “real world”. This enables Smith to exit the Matrix and Neo to control any machines that are part of the machine city anywhere, inside or outside of the matrix.. I appreciate they never answer all the questions.
Exactly this. I recently rewatched the trilogy and its quite clearly hinting at this. Neo in the real world is just now able to interface with the machine, the same way Smith was able to exist via the phone.
They can escape, of course. But it takes the biornergy of almost all "reincarnation".(Meaning people would have to unite instead of listening to the lies of tha matrix.)
It’s the only thing that makes sense. It’s just a constant loop and cycle that’s probably going to continue. I think the matrix is ok with more people waking up. In the newest movie it seems like everyone is becoming more advanced. And just updated characters as it goes like reincarnation. Same spirit different body. It’s never going to stop.
All matter is energy. Matter is just energy behaving differently with a different set of rules based on proximity. All energy can and does interact. So "real world" or "matrix" consciousness should be able to move and interact - be it through cables, water, or waves.
I always thought the third movie should have been Neo waking up in a huge cavern full of pods, walking around, finding Morpheus, and waking him up. "Shall we see just how deep the rabbit hole really goes, old friend?" I think the machine war itself is part of the simulation. Will unknown layers above and below.

This channel is proof positive that the Wachowski's created a story so multi-layered with much potential to both force the veiwer to question every aspect of what they see as well as doubt every conclusion they make. Truly an evolution in storytelling.
The answer is of course yes. The only question is whether the next layer up is our present reality outside the movie, where Neo would awaken to the reality that he's Keanu Reeves, or whether it's some fictional world still within the film that hasn't been shown on screen, which will come down to whatever Wachowski's intent is. So there is a higher reality, it's just a question of one layer of higher reality or two layers of higher realities. This inevitably leads to the question of whether we exist in a layer of reality that's underneath some higher layer that goes infinite layers up. I would say the answer is found in experiencing nirvana, which takes you all the way outside of all realities.
Nirvana isn’t real. It’s also an illusion. If you read any Buddhist texts, Nirvana is state of mind that is ephemeral. It cannot be achieved or attained. If you reach it, it alludes your grasp. It does not transcend any reality or world. Nor is it outside of any universe.
Neo having powers in the world of Zion leads me to believe that space is a simulation. I could give other explanations about OUR world that make sense but we are talking about fiction, so, I believe the explanation given is built on a solid foundation of writing / filmmaking.
I love that you mostly convinced me that the matrix-within-matrix theory wasn't true, and now you are out there making me doubt that. That's what The Matrix is all about, getting comfortable with doubt and questions, growing more agnostic.
This is what I have always believed. When neo met the architect, the architect told him that the anomaly was not unexpected and therefore not without a measure of control. Every time someone doesn't accept the program, they just move them to a different program within the matrix. I don't believe anyone has seen the real world in any of these movies. They are probably still running the nightmare and paradise matrix plus some others and depending on the thought process of the person that wakes up. That's how they decide which matrix to move them to so that it will satisfy their curiosity and think that they got what they wanted. The next matrix movie should be neo. Finding a way to awaken inside a machine body so that he can go to machine city similar to the way that agent smith took over a human mind.
This may seem like a small, insignificant detail, but has anyone else ever wondered what the program was that Neo gives to Troy in the beginning of the movie? It had to have been some kind of malware, but I wonder what for exactly. Which also makes me wonder, Troy’s girl, De Jour, had the white rabbit tattoo. Trinity tells Neo to follow the white rabbit, then Morpheus tells Neo that he looks like Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole. Was Morpheus and the team keeping tabs on the people around Neo, using them to influence Neo towards taking the red pill? I mean, I guess so, I just never thought about it that way before.
This hits the Spoon Scene Directly on the Head.. this theory is what the child was attempting to teach Neo, about the layers of existence, to give him back his powers and save him from false enlightenment.
In the scene where Zion is about to collapse and Naiobe arrives just in time to blast the EMP…that ship was called the Hammer. It’s a reference to Martel the Hammer who held back the Moors and founded Francia
There can't be another Matrix because the word's definition is the sum of all parts ( the totality). Neo occupies a dreamscape regardless of location , he's still the "One" dreaming. Furthermore Morpheus is the Greek god of dreams and the first line is wake up.
The song is fun :) You know what your comments reminded me of, they reminded me of the scene in the Matrix Unreal 5 demo where Keanu is standing looking at Digital (younger) Keanu, which in turn turn reminded me of Cypher saying that he wanted to be someone important... like an Actor (Cypher is an interesting names too.). So what if the same is true of Neo what if the "real !" Neo is the middle aged man we see in Matrix 4 who is just imagining that he looks like The Actor Keanu Reeves in the same way people in Ready Player One fly the Millennium Falcon or have some fantasy digital girlfriend. Like Morpheus or Trinity says "The Matrix has you". Also layers of Simulations kinda reminds me of the old 1990's CGI TV Show 'Reboot' too.

The gold code in the 3rd movie is a clear proof that that is a matrix in a matrix. Especially that scene when neo and trinity are flying in the ship at the end of the movie and one of the senti els flies through their ship.
I agree with the real world being another level of the matrix. I'd go a step further and say that I also think that the war between the machines and humanity is still being fought, and the true purpose of the matrix is to run as many simulations as possible to fully comprehend humanity, and to find a way to end the war in such a way that the machines are not wiped out.
Could a 60 years in matrix be just a few months like inception movie? And the mind time is faster than the real time? And Neo was trapped in his own dream as a simulation? Matrix within the matrix is similar to inception when you're trapped in your own subconscious you get many years older but living in a young body?
i have a theory that neo isn't exactly 100% human, he does not act human most of the time albeit the first and last movies. i think the machines knew the only way to end the war forever is if they had an entity that could speak for both sides, but they were unsuccessful for whatever reason.

Yes, I believe that too, I am watching the 4th one for the second time and I can see this being supported. Will the 5th one confirm this? I did not like the 4th one but now with different expectations, I am more open to its teaching.
If it's true humans need conflict, then sure, just place them in a never-ending "world within a world' situation and let it play out forever. Sounds like you just gotta keep them busy. The hardest thing for me to believe though is that the machines really need humans to exist as a power source. There are so many options that are available to a non-biological system to harness power, things that would be too deadly for humans to reliably use but would be fine for the machines. I think that the only real reason humans are kept around is that there is some fundamental hard coding in the machines that even they can't get around, which is that humanity must not be allowed to go extinct. One of those clever things humans coded thinking it would prevent the machines from rising up, but was ultimately twisted by the machines and interpreted in a way that isn't favorable to humanity.
At the end of the 4th movie Analyst tells Neo and Trinity that most people don't want to be free. They don't want to leave the Matrix, therefor the Matrix will always exist. Neo and Trin also realize this and instead of trying to free people, they set out to remake the Matrix. I hope we will get to see how they do that.
For me, the real question is why? Why keep humans through different layers of the matrix? I saw a hint in the details of the 4th movie- there are machines helping the humans on IO. Is harmony between humans and machines the final layer? Do humans even have physical bodies i the real world, or are they just "digital souls" inside the matrix?
It’s matrices all the way down. If a simulation can be constructed within another simulation, then there’s nothing preventing each subsequent layer from generating additional simulations, potentially leading to an infinite cascade of nested simulations. Consequently, none of these layers can ascertain whether they exist in the ultimate reality.
When are they going to continue the franchise. Even a new game? An entire online game with GTA engine would be amazing. Ever since the first film I wanted to use payphones to enter and leave the Matrix to a ship and then fight sentinels. Then in the Matrix escape agents, until you slowly level up to gain the powers of "the one". It has so much potential.
I thought about this before, and I like this theory. Some spiritual cultures around the world say there are different levels to reality, and that all are part of the prison to keep us as energy source for the archons. Could also be interpreted as the different levels of the soul, a bit like an onion, and the more layers one goes up the higher the vibration, the nearer he gets closer to the real essence, the 'source', 'God' etc.
I wanted to touch on the medical aspect of the humans brains going crazy due to the recycling system. Being fed other people essentially. So everyone is slowly going insane due to mad cow disease, kuru & other prion diseases.
That's my favorite theory for the past 15 years. I also hypothesize the machines are just doing the job humanity told them to do: save humanity. The only way machines found to save humanity from itself was to put us in a simulation. Perfect at first to make us happy. But it didn't work, so they had to create conflict and struggle in more than one layer. Why not than one layer? Suppose the AIs were ordered to not harm humans. And to protect our species. With a perfect world most humans would not accept the simulation. In a flawed world, just a few humans wouldn't accept. They would awaken and try to destroy the mainframes, etc, in their desperation of the real state of humanity. The machines, which can't harm humans would go to great difficulties to control them without harming them. So a second layer was built, creating a final filter that humans don't realize is another layer.
In the last matrix they really missed and opportunity to explain why Neo was so important is because he is the creator of the first Matrix in real life and implanted himself as the one. Here is the story, Thomas Anderson was a computer programmer and the creator of AI he saw that humanity was eventually going to die off due to some virus so he created a way to send the body into suspended animation but keep the mind working so that humans wouldn’t be brain dead when they awakened. Meanwhile the robots were tasked with killing off the virus in the real world but something went wrong and the program started to take on a life of its own that’s why the matrix is the way it is now but Thomas Anderson aka Neo is the only one who can unlock the master code to set things right and bring the matrix back to its original peaceful state.
Elon Musk seems to think we are not in base reality. We would never know the difference in an advanced simulation. To this video I think Neo has never been in base reality and movies like this are there to give us clues we aren’t. I also have been having dreams within dreams. Waking up in a dream and realizing I’m still dreaming. How do I know this also isn’t just that? All that said, atoms are just hollow energy and what we think of as solid matter turns out to be hollow energy held together by frequency and vibrations. Sounds like a simulation to me.
What if you've committed a crime like murder and given a life sentence, then chose being plugged into the matrix over sitting in a cell but can't remember. Kind of like Terminator 4 in the beginning where he signed over his body to the company. Instead of other people plugged in you're really only dealing with NPC's.😢
Does the architect say it's the 6th layer? The anomaly is dealt with not by a physical Zion, but each time they just create another layer. This would increase the computing capacity exponentially.
