This is real life advice for young people in their late teens or early 20's. I'm going to tell you what very few other people will. I'm going to tell you the truth. I'm not going to sugar coat it or try and tell you what I think you want to hear either. Think you can handle that? Let's go.

Question everything. Even family members can give bad advice and hold you back…. Good advice too. Just weigh the advice given to you and do your best to follow your heart and do whatever it is you want to do to make you happy. I’ve wasted many years trying to make others happy and I often wish I did more of what Tim said in his video. Life is short and if you’re in your twenties, you’re in your prime. Enjoy life the best you can. Try not to get trapped in the boxes society tries to keep you in.

Young people please don't start a family or get pregnant at this time. Companies/Government/organizations have no loyalty to employees they will turn on you in a second when its convenient and fire/replace you. Governments are also increasing authoritarianism while helping the Globalist elites to consolidate all wealth/power. To ensure no slavery like life, girls should remember to take the birth control pill daily and both guy/girl should use protection and consider Tubal Ligation which is a quick procedure. You will just condemn your new child to increasing poverty and freedomless slavery and these control/money/job trends worsen.

I'm 27 year old and most of my life has been a lie. I thought life was about going to school, go to college, get a job, marry, get kids and then work work work, pay debt, get more responsibilities and then die.. All this because of listening by society's and people's advice telling me that i have to live like this. Since i discovered your channel, i significantly changed my mindset. You changed my perspective how i view life now. Thank you so much for this advice and i promise i will make sure to try new things and do things that i always wanted to do to nourish my soul. Peace brother ✌️

He is correct after college I became a case manager and every other year I took a new career I was a police officer 2 times a correctional officer a phlebotomist a sales person and now I want to be a truck driver the point is do what you want if it doesn't work out try something else but learn from the past to help you move forward.

Great advice Tim! As a senior now, my 20s were filled with tons of fun, traveling and so many memorable experiences. I’ve enjoyed every decade of my life, and at this stage I regret nothing as I lived life on my terms - not others ideas of what I should do. Young people please enjoy this time of your life, you’ll never get it back! So glad my 20 something grandkids think I’m pretty cool at age 72 - it’s because I’ve never forgot what it’s like to be their age, and I encourage them to go for it, no judgement - nothing but love & understanding.

Listen to Tim. I never got married, nor have I reproduced and I had a blast in my 20s and 30s. I hiked, and worked for cool places and I’ve lived in Pittsburgh, D.C. and Baltimore. Never listened to anyone. I’m 58 now and I’m still free even though I’m working. On my days off I do as I please.

The biggest lie told to twenty-somethings is that it's the best decade of your life. It can be-- anything can happen. But it's generally not. You're inexperienced. Yes, you have looks, health, energy, fitness (generally speaking, relatively). Still, you're inexperienced. That counts for a lot. You're going to make mistakes. You're going to misinterpret your emotions, desires, relationships, etc. I wish twenty-somthings were given the message: it gets better! For most people it does! The better you know yourself, the better you like yourself and consequently, know how to serve your truer self. What older people don't tell younger people is that the older you get the most satisfied you are within yourself as a function of knowing yourself (plus others and the world) better as a result of collating more experiences together.

It reminds me of the first time I went to Seattle in my 20s I thought it was great and did so many things while visiting. However, visiting in my 40's I truly enjoyed it and really experienced the city. I was not very good at road trips, finding good places to eat, and having awesome experiences as I am now. Also, I now have the ability to slow down and truly enjoy the world around me.

Also, don't stay in one career role too long. Advance your skills every so often, switch companies, diversify your talent and knowledge. They more you have experience in..the more value you offer thus the more money you make to live the life you desire. Speaking from personal experience. I've seen friends stick with one job, one company for 10+ years making maybe 10k more than where they started. With me bouncing around and job-switching every 2-3 years, I've been able to negotiate and get higher salary at shorter amount of time..increasing my salary to over 100k/yr. Diversifying your skills get you further as you're able to "fit" more in various roles.🤑

I’m 44 and this advice is gold. I wish I had it when I was younger, I feel stuck, I love my home, my husband and my son and I am blessed and grateful but you’re so right, I want to try new things now and I feel like, how can I if I have my family and my job (which I don’t want to do anymore) and I have my responsibilities. So yes people in your 20’s or who don’t have the extra responsibility, go and live it. I am living but in my heart I want to be on the road, seeing beautiful scenery, one day I will, but I have to wait…God willing I will still be alive to do by the time I am able to. Again, I am blessed, I love my life but in my heart, if I could have made a change when I was younger, I definitely would have been traveling more.

As a young person, it's the most comforting thing in the world to hear people older than me say "Yeah, I don't know what the fuck I'm doing either". Just sorta makes you realize that this whole life thing is one massive experiment for everyone. At one point, it seemed like your parents and superiors knew everything. Now I've come to terms with the fact that those people are just a few years, decisions and experiences removed from me.

Yep, my only true regret was to stay in places with people I honestly didn’t like. I have told my kids to enjoy life, do exactly what they want. People definitely look at me like I’m nuts when I say I don’t care if my kids take their time deciding if they even want to go to college. The biggest word of advice I have to the young one’s. Travel, travel, travel. Experience the beauty of this country, it is astounding. When you’re done with that, travel to the country or countries that has always called you. Get your diversity on! Oh and to everyone. It’s never too late to start enjoying life. I might have bursitis but I’m finally living MY life at 58.

My 20's were a total waste, I guess I learned something by getting my ass kicked by life, but I really got a late start in life. Now that I'm older I'm much happier and content. I'm not trying to be something I'm not. I was drinking a LOT from the ages of 20-25. Huge mistake on my part. At the time I thought oh it's so fun, but I was trying to numb the pain. i think God made me suffer throughout my 20's so that I could enjoy my life later. At 22 I thought I had this great job, etc etc but I was headed for a downward spiral because of all of my personal flaws. It took 2 years of depression and a LOT of therapy to figure out who I was. I switched careers and worked my ass off throughout my 30's to be where I'm at now. So it was a very rocky path, one that most people don't take. But I think it happened for a reason for me.

As someone about your age I think this is good advice. I would add, don’t put things off until retirement age because a significant percentage of 20 year olds never even get there. According to SSA life expectancy tables, over 20% of 20 year olds won’t make it to 65. Hell, about 7% don’t even make it to 50. LIVE NOW! Tomorrow is not guaranteed!
@godnotavailable2094
@godnotavailable2094 2 года назад
That's a great statistic to think about, and one of many that put into perspective just how short life really is. That means about 1 in 5 20 year olds who say "Can't wait until I retire" are putting things off for a time that doesn't exist for them. The other 4 are all going to be old, diseased, lacking energy, and nearing death themselves. They won't even have the physical assets to do what they want with their lives at that stage. As you said: LIVE NOW!

My two cents: I’m a GenX woman who just turned 50, and wish I’d had someone to give me this great advice when I was 20. No hippies around where I was growing up, or I’d have bought a van when I was twenty and become a permanent camper! Great video, Tim! In my early 30s, I learned that I don't need to follow the path that my whole family has. I quit drinking right before the pandemic for over a year just to save money and clear my head. I ended up selling most of my stuff, saved up money, my boyfriend and I bought a 93' Chevy campervan and traveled the U.S. for almost a year. I decided I wasn't waiting until "retirement". I worked in nursing homes throughout my 20s and that encouraged me to live how I choose and encouraged me not to wait to "live" any longer. I'm 34 now, back at a "normal" job and trying to figure out my new path, but this isn't it. Listen to yourself and your body everyone. The anxiety of going to work at your "normal" job everyday is NOT normal. Trust me when I say to just do whatever makes you happy. I spent 10+ years on feeling depressed and way too anxious from feeling like I had to stay in a career within my college degree. Be yourself and if your family or friends don't support you, move along and know that following your own compass will always be #1 ❤

I'm turning 50 this year, and this is great advice. One thing I've learned is that life goes by fast. If you're in your 20s, you'll be in your 40s in no time at all! When you're 10 years old, 10 years is your whole life. But when you're 20, it's only half your life, and the next 20 years will go by a lot faster than the last 20. You think you have all this time, but you actually don't, so you need to have a sense of urgency. Don't let life pass you by!

@@veetee4826 Take comfort in the fact that you're in good company. I've come to realize that humanity is a great big mess. Most people have some kind of problem going on in their lives. In the past, I used to wish that I was living someone else's life. Then I saw the problems that they were going through, and I came to realize that even with my problems, life wasn't all that bad. Our troubles might not be pleasant. But at least we can get through them. 😊

My advice as someone in their 30s...Travel, travel, travel!!! Travel the world before you have kids, get tied up in your career, buy a house, etc. Travel opens up your mind, eyes, and whole life experience! It gets harder to do once "adulting" happens. It gets harder to request days off for travel when your job denies your PTO, when no one can babysit the kids, when you're stuck in university. Also, try to have kids later in life. Like Tim, I chose not to have kids...and don't regret it one bit. My peers, however, wish they would've waited until they were better established financially or later in life to be able to spend more time with their kids.

Thank you for sharing your insights, tim. Im 25 years old, i have finished my degree a couple months ago and im looking for a job because i want to start to make my own money. Im very privilege for the life i have (good family, living with my beautiful parents, quiet life, have food, water love and shelter...), but i feel there are pressures over me, society presures that its hard to ignore. In my country (im not from USA), seems like there will be a amazing recession, bad times, and young people are always told that (it feels like the future its not bright). My parents always tell me that i have to be intelligent, save money, be sensible, survive... And i want to be sensible and survive in the "society game" but, at the same time, i feel being an "adult" and enter in the "responsability and serious person", in my country, its a nightmare, like i dont fit in this concept. As 25 years, old, finished a degree, looking for a job, im learning to be good in this game but also i feel like a child, i want to enjoy my life. I like to play basketball, catch waves with my bodyboard table, dance hip hop, take walks... I want to play and i want to survive in this game. Is this impossible? Why adults dont play? I dont understand why adults shouldnt do certain things, why its embarrasing? I dont understand why we create cages for ourselves. Thank you for your video. You always remind me keep my spirit alive. Lots love tim! Have a good day!

I wish I had this advice in my teens and 20s. It took me a long time to get to this point . I’m in my mid 30s. With support from my family I went straight from HS, through college, and grad school. I don’t regret going on mission trips in my 20s. I regret not speaking up and staying in grad school, because I thought that was what was expected. I am haunted by regret for things I did not do in my 20s. I’m paying the consequence for it. To those who are dealing with regret for things they didn’t do. I find comfort in faith and spirituality.

Tim, I'm a big fan of your content but THIS video is the nail on the head. I traveled in my teens and twenties and left nothing on the table. I met the man that would be my husband at 26 but I refused to marry in my 20's. I'm still doing exactly what I want living the dream, having my cake and eating it too but the 30's hit different and I'm glad I did exactly what I wanted with my (younger) youth.

You only live once, as far as you know, so make the best of it every moment, not just the younger years but all the way to the golden years. If only we learned to live each day as if it was our last, we would’ve extracted so much quality out the experience, rather than mortgaging our moments for some cheap futures that are never here!

As a 25 year old. I tried the whole college route. When I pursued my associates degree from 18-20, I quickly realized this education was NOT working for me. I got my associates (it hardly got me anywhere btw) but I bounced around part time jobs for a few years staying with 2 different girlfriends. Travelled to Canada and Europe during that time. I promised myself to never end up in the 9-5 cycle. I knew there was more to life than that. I eventually found WWOOFING when I was 23 and lived and worked on a farm in Hawaii for 3 months. Life changing. Now I’m back in Texas, I bought a van 6 months ago, because fuck rent. I’m working 40hrs a week at a juice bar. So now I’m working 9-5 but with a purpose!! I love being at a job knowing I could leave at anytime when I’ve decided I’ve had enough. My purpose now is To save up my money and get back out and travel and go wwoof some more!! Going back to Hawaii later this year. Next on my list is Mexico and Alaska!! To my young people: TRAVEL!! And try out wwoofing and also, college doesn’t equal success

I've heard many of these points before, but it's just so easy to forget them. I'm not even 22 and find myself getting caught up in all this garbage I don't even give a damn about. It's constantly being pushed by every direction of our culture. Thanks for the video. It's a great reminder and helped to clear me out some. 👍

I'm about to be 25 and have been thinking about living the nomadic lifestyle, starting to put some stuff into action selling pretty much everything to get a van to hit the road, I've been watching quite a few of your videos and nomadic videos and how to live cheap on the road. It all sounds really good and I look forward to putting it into action. I'm that type of person that when I do things It always comes to an end. I do think this lifestyle is going to be great because I'll be able to see new things and not be committed to the area and just move on to the next new thing. It would be great to experience life and not just live for the next mediocre regular day
@legoceswim1283
@legoceswim1283 Год назад
What I'm thinking of doing is when I get my van, have all my stuff sold, and money saved up I want to drive to wherever my car takes me, no GPS and just be in the moment. Get the life figured out and then start knocking stuff off my bucket list because I don't want to be an old man harboring regrets. I used to be extremely extroverted but as time went on things in my life changed me to be introverted. I want to meet new people and learn different cultures and get fully adept to this lifestyle. I'm so done with stress and thinking that I got to be what the world wants. If it's anything less than free I don't want it.

I turned 34 last month and I cannot agree more! In my 20s I had soo much stress, responsibilities, heartacke and pain...I had to stop and say "Hey, those are supposed to be your best years! Your crazy youth! When are you going to live "La Vida Loca"? So I said "screw it, I gotta be free!". And I opened up my arms for the blessings of the universe! And I did live "La Vida Loca" in my late 20s! And those are the memories I am going to keep until I am on my deathbed and beyond :)

I feel duped, spent 20s and early 30s working 9-5 like a fool instead of enjoying life. I guess better late than never, I see people do this from 20s until retirement in 60s. All the savings are crashing now, crypto and stocks. I wish I just spent that money while I was young.

I spent most of my 20's living outside of the United States. During this time I managed to get my bachelor's degree and learn 4 foreign languages to fluency. Currently working on an MBA in Russia as a 33 year non-traditional student. I got a full-tuition scholarship. Don't pay for higher education if you don't have to is one important piece of advice. Second, there is book learning, which is nice and learning through living. You should leverage both types of learning. Also when working or studying make time for at least on meaningful adventure every year. By living the way I have, I've learned a ton of stuff and had loads of cool adventures. Hell, I've been to a remote Russian island near Japan. getting off the beaten path is amazing and you learn a lot about yourself.

I totally agree with your point about higher education- got a lot of flak (and was looked down on) for attending a state law school when I was admitted to several expensive private schools...many of them who are still in debt to the tune of six figures today....I never discourage people from pursuing graduate education but I do tell them they must be strategic about keeping their debt load to the bare minimum however possible because it affects your life for many, many years to come

Good advice but I'd definitely prefer if I could go back, to use my 20s to work hard and save intensively to capitalize on the power of compounding interest and then retire early, by the latest at 35. Different people, different strokes. We don't all have to do the same thing when we are 20. Let's normalize individuality

I'm in my early 30s now, I've been a nomad now for 3 years and I don't think I can ever go back to "normal" life. After traveling the country it blows my mind that most people want to stay inside a building with 4 walls and work their ass off to stay inside that building. There's a whole world to see out there with unlimited things to do and everyone chooses to stay inside a building/home and stare at screens all day. People wait their whole lives to retire in their 60s and finally enjoy life. How can you enjoy life as an elderly person, how can you hike, climb mountains, run, jump, swim, etc. Do that stuff NOW while you can. You'll have a million times better experience traveling at 20 to 35 than you will in your 60s and 70s My number one goal in life is just live day by day and be happy. I may not be rich but I have almost zero stress and I wake up ready to go each day to see what this adventure I call life brings me

Great Life Advice Tim !! I can tell you as a man in my 50s now, I wouldn’t trade my experience of working in National Parks in my 20s for anything. I met lifelong friends, had great experiences in the outdoors, and made memories to last a lifetime. College is right for SOME people. But I would argue that it is wrong for most people. Only 50% of college students graduate after 6 years (rough estimate), yet most college students are stuck with whatever student debt they incurred while attending school. That debt is like a ball and chain around their ankle as they try to progress in life. I know a lot of National Parks concessionaires rely on International people to fill jobs now, because American kids are too good to do those jobs or won’t live in old dorms. They don’t know what they’re missing. God Bless the internationals for stepping up to do those jobs and their courage to travel so far to do them.

Strength, endurance, energy, retainability comes in the package of youth. You want to use those abilities to absorb different things in the world around you. Never be closed minded when given good sound advice. Especially, from trustworthy experienced adults. Most important, love and obey God, be careful how you treat others, take care of your mind and body, stay away from negative people, places, and things.

🦋Hahaha! Loved the end of this video! So good! I also feel this advice is good for older people to watch. I’m 23 years removed from my 20’s and I feel that these are things I needed to hear. There’s an unspoken agreement that the young are making with older generations and it needs to be spoken about so we can fix what seems to have happened here. I absolutely agree with what’s being said here. I’m more knowledgeable for watching your video! Thank you for being here, sunshine!🦋

Hello young friends. Tim is totally right; if there are things you want to do in life and the opportunity arises to do them, please don't pass it up. So many people say "I have plenty of time", but time can sneak away from you. If you don't know what you want in life yet, that is OK; some people totally know what they want to do, but let me say most of us end up changing our minds as we get older and experience different things and start realizing what things are meaningful in life. Engage in the journeys when you can, it's those funny tales about things you tried or places you went that are fun to share with others later, and it doesn't even have to be epic either. Sometimes a quiet day someplace scenic and "uneventful" can be the most fulfilling experiences. Eldorado is beautiful, such lovely lands to look out over like you're gliding. Makes me miss the mountains.

I appreciate that point you included about how you do not need to be in a rush in your late teens and 20s to pick up responsibility. My advice for younger men coming from a 45 year old Man is try out what you really want to do when you are still in HS if you are passionate about it ( I will use acting for a example) and have a knack for it then things may fall into place give your dream a shot if it feels like you are chipping away at granite each day then it is not for you you can always get a "job" but you only get a short window to try out what you are passionate about. I always wanted to be a actor when I was a child ( mostly because my home life was awful and movies were a escape) anyways I made 3 "elcrapo" movies and it was fun and miserable at the same time the movies sucked ( for audiences) but for myself It was a rush to create a parallel universe that I was in control of........however I figured out fairly quick ( 2 years) that acting directing is not for me however I learned a lot from doing those movies that actually helped me in other areas of life. I also joined the Military 19 D Scout ( it pretty much sucked Army is very boring) I currently Cattle Ranch for a living ( I always had that option in my back pocket many others do not have that luxury) So if you are from a city grew up in a Apartment etc bottom line travel light and do not buy things that you do not need to quote Tyler Durden " things you own end up owning you"

Hey Tim, it’s very affirming to hear this stance from a more mature standpoint. I’m 19 and I’ve been struggling with these expectations for a relatively short period of time compared to the long haul. There is something really intimidating about the idea of a career at the moment. I’ve been struggling with mental health from a young age and currently I feel that I have a lot to learn about myself. I’ve been devoting a lot of time to exploring new ideas and finding healthy ways to take care of myself both physically and mentally. At times I feel stagnant in comparison to both acquaintances and family expectations. Also learning to navigate in the adult world of relationships can be strange and overwhelming. All in all I try to remind myself that though I’m transitioning to adulthood I am still very much a kid in many regards. Everyone follows their own path and any attempt I’ve made to conform to someone else’s path has only brought me complication in the past. Have a nice day

I'm 23 and realizing a lot of this now, im temporarily held down because of some debt but when im out im going to travel and live nomadic for a while to see where i wanna live. Went through an early life crises recently where i realized the career i was building was not suited for the human spirt or my health of myself or the planet, bit of the buddihst percpective. But now i just need to take time and experience life, if you could make a video on living while getting out of debt and what to do to set yourself up for when you are free that would be helpful?
