One thing I know Dex had an interest in was flying. Wouldn't it be great if this turned into something. Flying changed and pretty much made my life. It opened up a whole new world...

Another great video. Not the plain sailing of your passage to Maldives. You guys did great out there battling the weather and nailing those frequent sail changes.

I'm so glad we've exceeded Finn's target. The extra money will be put to good use and is definitely a good cause. Cheer up Rache, as you well know, this is life. You will feel better but those waves of emotions will take a while to subside. But they will!

Thanks for sharing guys. Hi Rachel. One of the "it is what it is" moments with having children is that they go from being dependants, to suddenly almost overnight, becoming independent. And leave home, and then the "Empty Nest" syndrome hits. However with FaceTime becoming available, we can still talk with them. Just remember, you're not the first to experience this, and you certainly won't be the last. Yeah that's a bit of an old cliche. Kia kaha.!! All the very best for Declan. And for Finn too. Heart ache, when little birds leave the nest. You just have to over hug Ivan now, to make up for Finn, and Declan. Glad Finn made his money he needed, you know you have a loving community when they want to help such good people, and a pirate cat. (thought the birds were goping to toss the cat overboard.) Hey hey, first to like and comment. This season of life is so challenging emotionally. Feel for you, Rachel. There's no escaping it and if we didn't hurt we wouldn't be human and if we didn't feel pain we wouldn't have felt love. I really pray for all of you through this time. Declan follow your heart and that your path will be right. On a lighter note: Mocha vs boobies had me holding my breath for Mocha cause they can always fly... poor Mocha can't. Hang in there, Mocha, your humans need you!

Those sails were hard work. I was tired watching, lol. The food made me hungry. Thanks a lot. You know people pay extra for sea salt on food and you have it all around you. I know you all will miss Declan, but he is a good young man, and you did well as parents raising him along with his brothers. One of them would do well as a marine biologist. Did you get repairs made for the sails and other issues, or is that another. Video? Can you continue to sail withe a 3 person crew> Love your family, blessing to all.

My mom gave a speech at a Toastmasters event when I was a young adult. She likened letting go of adult children to the transition phase of childbirth. She had 14 of us so she experienced it many times. She had 12 vaginal deliveries out of 14 births. She said that transition is very painful because it is when the baby starts to emerge from the womb via the birth canal. Many mothers describe the point where the baby is crowning as being a ring of fire for how painful it can be. Childbirth involves physical pain and letting adult kids go out on their own is emotional pain, but her point was that both involve transitions that hurt but both are necessary. You have to endure the pain of bringing a child into the world because you can’t stay pregnant forever and at some point kids get to an age where they venture off on their own. As much as parents might want to, they can’t keep their kids with them forever. My little girls are 11 and 10 and I’m already not looking forward to the day they venture out on their own. They are growing up fast, sometimes I think it’s too fast. I definitely feel for you. I think it’s harder for mothers to let go because their relationship and bond with their kids begins the moment their kids begin to grow inside of them. They feel the babies move and kick over the course of their pregnancies. Once the babies are born they are the primary care givers especially for the first few years of their children’s lives. All I can say is hang in there and I feel for you.

i wish both Finn and Declan well in their adventures..... I must say that the idea of sailing, given the example from this week, across the Ocean or even around the islands scares me silly. I'd take the trip with Finn to Canada or back to Autralia with Declan. I hope you manage with a crew of three.

And just like that, the EMC is leaving on his adventure, I was 19 when I was drafted into the US Army, which was my kind of involuntary adventure, in hindsight I can say it made me grow up quite a bit, I was defiantly not the same person when I returned. And with that said, Declan, you are an amazing young man, you have had a great life so far, been places, seen things, done things that many of us are envious of. I am sure that whatever and wherever your life takes you that you will continue to be great at whatever you do. My question is, what are we going to do with no EMC on the boat, Sir Ivan is going to have to step up his game, he has to take over being the maybe second in command, it is going to be interesting going forward with just the 3 of you.

Javelot its a great ship, even without the genoa,... Mocha feels safe within the unbalance sailing, so it mustn't be that that bad, haha. Loved to see the Kiwi Boys filming for their channel... with Mocha. And best of all, the kayak was well secured! At leadt it didn't went missing once again. No time to get bored, or to rest. As I said, I'm sure it will be worth the passage! Brave Ivan!! Might feel soo good though. Easy way to feel awake. Yes, he is the the storm haha. Loved Mocha on the look out for the bobby birds... and those pink clouds of the sunset. EMC... hope the rest of the jpurney is enjoyable before you leave. We'll miss you on board again (and the Cruissing Kiwis will miss your highly valuable services haha... guess Ivan will have to take the post -as he did on your last trip out-).
