Can’t tell you how much this video has help me! I also did Biomed and then applied for medicine but was rejected the first time due to my UCAT scores. My second UCAT is in a few days and this was just the motivation i needed as there is part of me that started to consider if i’ll get in at all.

That will definitely work, however you might need to work until you get your PR or citizenship (5 year +) before exams and applying to medschool...it's very expensive for international students..

Do you think chances of getting in are better as a graduate on a graduate course or an undergrad course?
@LifeofHelena
@LifeofHelena 2 года назад
This is hard to say, I think it depends on your stats. Both are quite competitive. I usually suggest to apply for both courses if you can

I really wanted to do medicine when i was 12 years old and it was my dream. Now i am going into my 3rd year biomedical sciences and i am now 23 y. I was planning to do PA as it is only 2 years but my feelings always pushes me towards graduate medicine… i really dont know what to do any advice?😭
@LifeofHelena
@LifeofHelena Год назад
Hey, this can be difficult to decide because both courses have some similarities and differences. You could possibly think about why you want to do the courses and weigh up the pros and cons. This could possibly help with your decision

do you feel like the biomed degree has helped you prepare for med?
@LifeofHelena
@LifeofHelena Год назад
It helped with lab-related work in my preclinical years (year 1 & 2 of med), essays and my dissertation but not so much for my clinical years
@processdlord1508

So can you do your graduate medicine program while working
@LifeofHelena
@LifeofHelena 2 года назад
It depends on the individual. But, it’s hard to balance a job and medical school at the same time. Some people work as a HCA, summer jobs, zero hour contract roles etc. You’d need a very flexible job to be honest
@processdlord1508
@processdlord1508 2 года назад
So after completing your GEMP will you get a job immediately after that

I am really really passionate to do medicine. Unfortunately I migrated from Kuwait to England and did my gcse’s directly so my grades weren’t great. I got 4 6’s and all 5’s :” I am doing A-level psychology (predicted B)and applied science (predicted D*D*) and EPQ. I am thinking of doing medical science and then medicine . Can you please advice me on good universities that offer transferring and accept my qualifications
@LifeofHelena
@LifeofHelena Год назад
Hey! Have you tried looking on UCAS? I'd suggest looking on UCAS, you'll see the different requirements universities offer for both medical science and medicine

I am 20 years and I want to study biomedical sciences and apply for medicine how long will it take me
@LifeofHelena
@LifeofHelena 2 года назад
Hey! Biomedical science (3 years) Biomedical science with a placement year (4 years). If you decide to do a placement year, it’s an extra year. For medicine: Graduate Entry Medicine (4 years) Undergraduate medicine (5-6 years) Foundation Year Medicine (6 years) I hope this helps.

i’m a biomed student rn but in second year so i’m like thinking of placement, do you think it’s worth doing placement if imma apply to grad med ?
@LifeofHelena
@LifeofHelena Год назад
Hey! It's hard to answer this question because I know how unpredictable getting into medicine can be and I was in this same position before. Do you have any plans to work as a biomedical scientist at some point? If so, then I'll suggest the placement year
@aieshabegum2025
@aieshabegum2025 Год назад
@@LifeofHelena no i don’t , i don’t plan to work in labs etc. maybe researcher but most likely med sales if medicine doesn’t work out
