The fact that she talked about the struggle of the bathrooms being full and there being long lines, and then proceeded to admit that she literally hung out in the porta potties, wasting space while people could have been using them for the intended purpose
This is what the Vice/HBO documentary missed - the vapid over-privileged WASPs who think the biggest struggle is having to go search for a bathroom to hang out in (not go, but hang out in).
As a wh!te sorority member who went to college on the east coast, I'm most interested in hearing how the university is handling racism in primary recruitment and in sorority life as a whole. I know from speaking with students and alumni that ableism and queerphobia are also massive issues. I really feel if there isn't a major overhaul of fraternity and sorority life it needs to be ablished.
@nxyla 💖 people have just gotten use to censoring things that might get their comments deleted on multiple platforms - it's why people say things like "unalive" instead of suicide
I feel like calling it overdramatic is a little icky coming from someone who is in a place of privilege with these incredibly exclusive sororities as a skinny, conventionally attractive white girl :/ I’m glad your experience wasn’t too bad at least but I think it’s good to reflect on why that was.
@@learningcommons7014 What? Sororities are unfortunately built on quite prejudiced roots, and, while some people may have good experiences, it's often only a select minority (usually being white and rich). She also ignored the part of the documentary about the Machine, which quite literally controls their entire student government and also even affects very real state and federal elections - terrorizing people when they don't get their way. The documentary was bad anyways - I learned more from Ashley Norton’s video than anyone will learn from this documentary lol.
@@kcunningham7:I think by overdramatic she just means HBO isn’t doing the true reality of bama rush. since documentaries don’t always do stuff accurately. Since overdramatic just mainly means exaggerated and excessively dramatic so the documentary for bama rush would have added in stuff that’s not true aka stuff that doesn’t happen in real life. Like the bathrooms wouldn’t be super easy to use because there would be a long line of girls needing to use the bathroom aka an overcrowded bathroom. And bama rush for hbo is suppose to about sororities in 2022 rushing the university of Alabama system it’s not wrong to call it over dramatic Aka exaggerated and excessively dramatic when they showed the bathrooms not being crowded in the documentary. There’s a reason why people rated that documentary low in terms of how it shows Greek/sorority life. It’s not being all that truth and accurate about how Greek life/sororities actually are for sorority rush.
@@kcunningham7she also just most likely means the documentary didn’t do the bama rush for Sororites all that much justice since it has parts in the documentary that don’t happen in real life when someone rushes for a sorority. Like not all members of sororities party and drink certain sorority members are also focused on academics. She has a right to speak on the documentary not being all that accurate because she’s just pointing out that the documentary leaves out certain stuff about sororities especially for sororities at the university of Alabama since she’s rushed herself. She just wants people to know the reality of bama rush. Like the bama rush documentary wise not all sorority members are mean girl types certain ones yes but not every single sorority member is the mean girl type not everyone parties and drinks…etc... Since people are calling the bama rush documentary a total waste of time since it adds in stuff that’s not true about bama rush. Like it throws almost all of bama rushes for sororities objectivity out the window since it fails to capture the real true essence of Alabama Greek life for sororities.
I thought the documentary was going to be more than what it was. It was portrayed to “uncover” the ugly side of rushing. I didn’t hear anything that wasn’t already out there.
Chat, as an overweight, brunette woman that is actually *from* bama (the worst place to go to college for sororities) it is possible to get in. I got into Phi Mu. But imma be honest. I think the only reason I got into it is because I have a lot of family who are distinguished phi mu girls that are lawyers/ work in politics. So long story short Can u get in being "unconventionally pretty" yes Was I accepted to any other house no Did I get in because of my connections: Probably yes Do I enjoy it? ABSOLUTELY!!!!
“Bama Rush,” which follows the social media phenomenon that grew out of University of Alabama students documenting their sorority recruitment experience
@@lilianaj.8468: according to google it’s just what the University of Alabama calls their recruitment process for sororities aka when the sororities at the university of Alabama starts recruiting Potential new members
I hope that after rush, you took a remedial English course. I understand how important sorority life was to you, but after graduation, had you applied for a job at my company, you would have been shown the door immediately after, "Me and my roommates."
@MichaelCiminella-i7h: there are kids focused on academics who are in the sororities not everyone drinks and parties. Also sororities and fraternities aren’t shown in the tv and movie world because no one in the tv show and movie world can get Greek life right the creators always thrown in stuff that’s not true especially in documentaries. No one ever captures the true accurate overall essence of sororities and fraternities they always throw everything that’s true out the window like they show the bathrooms being too easy to use during rush when the bathrooms would be crowded. Also “hazing” is mainly more a thing for fraternities aka with the brothers aka guys. The sisters/sororities side aren’t that stupid because not everyone drinks and parties since certain people are focused on academics and the documentary and movie- tv show throw out all the stuff that actually makes sense about sororities since they don’t go in depth on sororities and fraternities all that much so they always make both sides look like “a cult” because they throw out the true overall essence of sororities and fraternities for stuff that doesn’t happen like not all members drink and party the only ones who drink and party are the only ones who are in the drinking and partying scene which isn’t every single member who joins. So you can blame the tv shows and movies and documentaries about Greek life for making both sides look like “a cult” while not showing what rushing is really like on either side. The only real thing in bama rush is the machine thing but other than that a lot of certain stuff isn’t true. Also bama rush promised to go more in depth but also doesn’t do all that much of an accurate job being accurate since it’s suppose to be about 4 to 5 college students joining sororities in 2022 yet it still adds in stuff that ain’t true there’s a reason why people call the bama rush documentary a waste of time. HBO didn’t even do it all that much justice either since no one in the tv show, movie and documentary know about Greek life at all to do anything on it especially not a “in depth” documentary.
