From US, but installed a softtopper in lieu of the fiberglass canopy. To any potential buyers, don't let that dissuade you! Get a softtop and you can go from enclosed to bikini mode to full top down in 10 minutes!!
@@Nathanaelslife Theyre pretty solid and well made (at least the one from SoftTopper i have so far anyway.) there's a camping tent sealant they provide you as well to use on the seams. I've taken it to a self serve car wash and it handles the pressure hose no problem. Couple of leaks on the under side where it connects to the body, but that's more on my spraying and kicking up splash back into the trunk
I just put on a softopper last weekend and sold the heavy hard top for $200 a few days ago. We’ve also had a few good rainy days since then and no leaks so far.
I am over in the states and my daily driver is a 1988 4runner. But I cheated mine is "restomodded" It has a 2tr-fe from a 2022 Tacoma swapped into it. going from a engine that makes barely 100hp, to an engine that makes 160hp makes a huge difference with drivability. mine also has functioning air conditioning, working cruise control and it even has working factory power windows and power door locks. Its still a primitive 80s truck but not nearly as primitive as most of them are. I have also rebuilt the transmission, regeared it and I have touched quite literally every bolt on it.
There is no rule that states that you must enjoy a classic car fully stock as it rolled off the assembly line. The 1st gen 4runner is a such an easy to work on platform that begs to be upgraded and modified. As long as you enjoy it, that's what matters.
Awesome mate! gotta love the modern luxuries with the old look ey! I have since also moved on to an Australian import HJ61 Toyota Landcruiser Sahara from 1986, has the sunroof, power windows, dual aircon, factory 12HT. Very happy with it so far check out my recent videos for more on that one!
With respect, pretty much just problems any old neglected vehicle suffers from other than the removable roof specific ones. Seeing how you drive it at the start of the clip explains a lot too.
Ey mine has taught me basically every single thing that could break or whatever I can pull it apart in 10 minutes basically now lol I broke down peak hour no starter middle of a bypass intersection and had to get 5 dudes to push my rig n try n kick it over (10x a good 20 minutes of road rage towards me) it teaches u how to operate these rigs under high pressure! I love it just send me brother 😅
hahahah brother Ive been there for sure hahaha. I feel your pain but I also love how good it feels when you do fix it. Best of luck out there mate keep sending it yo
Bro really rat forerunners here in the USA are still running and looking awesome everybody here loves them and you get good money from you're the first person I heard say anything negative about them wow I don't even know what to say you're the first person I've heard say all negative stuff about the forerunners you better come to the USA and by one year
I love the 4runner man, just made the mistake of having it as a daily rider haha plus slightly difficult to find parts for over here in Australia as we got the Japanese versions. It was in very bad condition when I brought it so I am happy with it now but yeah I do love the 4runners this one just happened to be a bit of a lemon hence the colour hahah! I have another 4runner video coming out next week more adventurous 4wd stuff to!
ive owned mine for 10 years was my first car but its a hilux-surf ssr 1988 ifs manual 2lt 2.4D factory turbo....i am thinking of selling it but if anyone knows me i never sell my cars
A 75 Chevy Blazer the whole top comes off I used to take the top off parsley by myself I haven't took my 4Runner top off but I'm sure I can do that that probably waste nothing
Awesome video Nathanael, fellow Aussie here and owner of a 91 4Runner. I’m glad I stumbled upon your channel as I share the same interest of tinkering on the old yota. Keep up the laid back down to earth content 👍
It really irritated me that they remived the coolest feature from this truck, the removable canopy. Only the 1st gen has it ..! I want to get one too one day
I enjoy wrenching on mine, I remove the top and reinstall alone no issues no lift. I could keep going. I get it he's playing the devil's advocate, I just think you have to have an appreciation for and desire to engage in a project like this. It's all love in my book.
Absolutely at the end of the day I loved the truck but over here in Australia they're hard to come by in good condition I guess I made the mistake of trying to daily drive mine and it gave me more issues than I had known about so hind sight is a great thing but I will certainly buy one again someday when I have a garage to work in 🤣 all the work I did on this was on the side of the road and gutter lol
