Ah, it's intuitive, the same as you can often guess the correct meaning in a conversation if you have never heard the word, by paying attention to the context. Absolutely gorgeous day there, by the way. So beautiful! So "chicken again bird" might mean people have been complaining about chicken every night for supper for centuries? 🤣

What's really odd is that Chinese isn't taught this way. Really really great video for learners.

This is also why Japanese speakers have a harder time reading unknown character despite having to learn fewer characters. Their kun'yomi system and multiple on'yomi subcategories means that there is far less consistency within the common characters' pronunciations

Especially with names. Many Japanese can't read some names in kanji so they have to ask the owner of the name
