Ah ha! I think you have cleared up the mystery for me and my struggle with algae and dirty looking plants!! My peppered cory are constantly digging up the sand and exposing the nutrients layer in the tank. I've managed to clear it up a bit by lowering the light a little and weekly water changes, ugh not fun. I have to say I think this is my favorite tank you've setup, I mean I love the others too but really like this look. I'd love to have access to the hardscape materials you have, wow so many great pieces. Very hard to find around my area and the ones I do find are crazy expensive. Thanks for another great video 😁

At last a different style. Don’t get me wrong, I really like the tanks you’ve done over the last four years, but they’ve been getting very samey. This is a complete departure from the norm and looks amazing. It’s good to see the structure even though you’ve planted the tank. It’s not in danger of being lost under a carpet of plants. This could well be my favourite. Great work MD.

The variety of colours from the rocks, wood and plants makes for an amazing scape. Your best yet. The next time a rescape one of my larger tanks I will try to get a similar colour scape.

WE LOVE CHUNKS!! 🐟😍 On a side note, I’ve upgraded my Pygmy Cory and chili rasbora tank (both tanks are right next to each other) and it’s been a struggle getting the remaining 4 Pygmy’s out of the 10G to the 20 long, everyone else is in except for them! They dart away and hide when I walk up so watching you net all the fish in that tank makes me realize I need to remove everything and lower the water level to catch them. That’s the only way…lol

Lovely set up, I love watching you create these little slices of nature. Been watching you for a few years now and you definitely have been a massive inspiration in how I keep my fish and I'm sure they are grateful for it also. So from me and my fish thanks for the content! Also what type of fish is chunk I've just got a 125 gallon and I've been looking for a more peaceful larger centerpiece fish.

This has to be one of my favorites. It’s a beautiful tank, looking forward to seeing a future update.

You may well find that your less than colourful blue acaras will colour up now that the dominant male has gone. It's a fairly normal situation particularly with cichlids that one male will be dominant and the others will show their submissiveness by looking subdued. Once the main man is out of the equation another one will become dominant and display full colouration.

Beautiful balance, with plenty of room for the fish to swim and to be seen, while still showing a luxuriant growth of plants! Great job!

Love this one MD❤ I did a similar middle island look for my 4ft rainbow/angel tank but I put Java and mini anubius on the big pieces of driftwood, tall anubius on small driftwoods at the back and planted crypts.

Previous version of this tank was beautiful. I personally would have ignored what was going on on the bottom and left it as is (I am not the most proactive aquarium keeper ). But you did a beautiful job on the redo and I like the lower amount of plants to begin with. After seeing how much more stunning Chunks was in the less densely planted tank made me think that having one big beautiful fish in a tank is very appealing. Thanks for all your videos.

So it's not a crime at all to make mistakes, so long as you admit it and learn from it >^_^< Also, the last time you had blue acaras was the buddha tank, wasn't it? I think you still used the mesh bag trick on that, so it's no wonder you didn't have these kinds of troubles with it before. This looks really really nice though, very clean and open, and I'm sure you'll see more babbehs soon!

The aquarium that you said it was horrible could have some dwarf cichlids

Your blue acaras look really weird and dull i must say, probably some really, really bad genes.They look like they got rabies but for fish. Not what they look like here where I'm from where they are super vibrant, symetric even when like 4 cm . Interesting.

If you like the red tiger lotus, you should look at getting a Star water lily (Nymphaea stellata). They have different shaped leaves to the tiger lotus, and are a more magenta-y colour, but they also produce blue flowers when they reach the surface!

I hope you do know those electric blue acara are all sick. They are scratching against the sand because something it irritating the skin and need to be treated. His scapes are cool but he really needs to learn more about fish

I would have to look back, but i think it was the nutrition layer was also bagged or you used the bags at that time.

MD, how come you never have a problem with tannins, I’ve just set up a 4ft tank with wood and rock, after two days I couldn’t see the back of the tank, I’ve done four water changes and it’s still not clear, have you any advice, Dave B

Looks great!! All your tanks are great, but I've noticed that you don't have any Red Tail Black Sharks, I'm not talking about Ruby Sharks. It's the Sharks that only have red on the back tail and black everywhere else. I love those!! ⚫️⚫️🔴 They are an algae eater, territorial and do get to a decent size. Would you ever consider it?

I always make mistakes with my tank! I have been trying to find what I truly want for 2 years. I am still a newbie to planted tanks. I just tore down my standard 20 gallon. 3rd time in 8 months! I have a nice very simple bowl in my living room with tiny Golden White cloud minnows. It is great. Love the tank with Chunks that you just redid. I am gping to try something similar on a smaller scale. Perhaps this time it will work. Time will tell! Great inspiration MD!! (GINA)

Thanks MD! That layout is exactly what I imagend for my tank! Keeping "not so rough" cichlids with nice plants is possible but needs some considerations.

Tank ideas. Your lotus are looking great why not try more tanks with bulb plant for that different look. Others like Crinums. Not everyday on RU-vid you see people using them

What are the red fish in Timmy’s tank? They are stunning. Love the new tank. Makes me want to build another tank. Don’t know where I would put it. Trying to figure out a spot in my bedroom for a tank. I have 6 tanks ranging from 5 gallon to 40 gallon in the entry to my house and the family room. I also put a bookshelf tank on the bar between my kitchen and family room, but I really don’t have any more space in that area. My Dad thinks I am insane, but I love taking care of my fish and tanks. It is super relaxing. I find myself just sitting or standing and watching the tanks. I also am adding to and tweaking the tanks. I love Buce and I have in 2 tanks. In my 29 gallon tall it is doing well, but it doesn’t look so good in my bookshelf tank. I think it is getting too much light. I have lowered the light and will see how it does. I may need to move it and replace it with something else.

Hey MD had a tank question. For some reason my water keeps going yellow do you know what could be causing it? I don't have any wood in my tank so it can't be tannins in the water.

One thing I try to do and not everyone can do this... is match the color of my aquarium stand with the aquascape, which of course depends on the fish too. I like how the stand here matches the substrate and thus puts the central focus really on the stones, wood, plants, and fish. Great job!
