To clarify: Oswald is a character that Walt Disney made before Mickey (while he was working at another company), and the reason Disney (the company) didn't use him is because they didn't have the rights to the character until relatively recently.
They actually lost his rights again! Well kinda. The original animated shorts version of Oswald are now public domain, tho they own the current "Oswald the Lucky Rabbit" with blue shorts for merchandise purposes
Oblitus casa is probably one of the most high quality fnaf fangames to this day, if it wasn't because it's basically entirely based on mickey mouse, it would have probably won a spot on the fanverse.
@@trakzerak735 actually, only the original designs from like, real early disney will become public domain, and steamboat willie can't be made public because of the disney intro thing
Do you know what impressed this fan made game the most? Donald Duck's jumpscare impressed me. I'm serious and I'm not kidding. His voice still fascinated me since the 2010s and still does. It literally takes me back to the past.
You mean when he entered the office? He kinda has a jumpscare, but it isn't in your face, it doesn't kill you, and it's the loudest in the original 2014 version. But ok, your opinion is your opinion, and that's fine.
@@LolManI-75 y’know that can be one of the worst parts, because donald served at something that didn’t technically kill you but it made noise to alert the antagonist. also loud noise is actually distressing when you cant stop it.
The fact one of the most famous FNAF fangames had a development that lasted this long is pretty crazy, but the end result is more than impressive. Huge shoutouts to the devs who worked hard on this game. They did an incredible job.
I wanted to be a game developer for quite a while now, but seeing more and more examples of development issues and rough unpolished games discourages me. It is a very difficult process.
Don't worry man.even though I am not. A Game dev, go for it and don't be afraid to show your talent to the world.yeah game development is hard but trust me it will be satisfying.
To see what's arguably the oldest (of the most popular at least) series of fangames finally get some closure after all these years is honestly quite endearing.
37:16 for people who dont know, those flashes in Henry are actuall models from the previous games, the red one is the classic undying and the yellow headless one was known has plain "Henry", The red one represented the soul and the yellow one represented the body
5:00 - 5:10 Technically, the first FNAF fan-game (at least the first uploaded to Gamejolt) was not the one shown here (which is Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Massacre). It was a game called "Creepypasta Castle", made by a user named "InsanePinkiePie", and was uploaded about a month after FNAF1 was released. The game was deleted somewhere around 2015 I think, and there is not a lot of footage that exists of game (the only person I know who has a lot of footage on it is RiskRim). The game itself was not impressive, even by 2014 standards. The game was basically FNAF1 but retextured and with creepypasta characters that were popular at the time. It was also buggy as heck, fast draining power meter, the characters move in a pattern similar to The Return to Freddy's, and the later nights were just unbeatable. There was a sequel to the game as well, Creepypasta Castle 2, that was basically the same as the first one just with FNAF2 assets. Almost nothing exists on that game, I was only able to find 1 video of it. Just something I thought I would share since this game is hardly talked about, and just like Treasure Island, paved the way for all FNAF fan-games.
Oh yeah, I remember hearing about it. The Creepypasta craze was quite big back then, there wasn't a single 14 year old girl back then who wasn't simping for Jeff the Killer. ...it was trending alright, but arguably for many reasons other than horror.
Can we all agree that MOTHER could be one of the creepiest/best characters/bosses in the fnaf community? She is not a monstrosity like Hourglass or The Blob and doesn't have any kind of demonic or distorted voice like Nightmarrione or Nightmare, and yet, she feels the most unsettling out of all, even almost uncanny with the other monsters on the island, the idea that she's all around you and nowhere, that she knows who you are, why you're here and yet even after you kill Hourglass still finds it funny to see you scared for your life, truly makes her one of the creepiest characters in any fnaf fangame and the way both Alexia Crystal and Malrat give her a voice is just PERFECT in all ways, it helps enormously to sell the idea that it is such an alien entity that it seems like something you still can understand in combination with her design in both Fnati 2020 and Oblitus Casa
She's a Mickey silhouette. I can't take her seriously. All I think of is sonic.exe and father I crave cheddar. No matter what she does, it's still Mokey. And Mickey, like sonic, aint scary.
@@eggmug562 Yeah, but that's the point with MOTHER, outside of her appearance of a shadow Mickey, we never really learn what she truly is, if she is truly God as we hear over and over, another Mickey like monster, or something totally else
Probably someone has said it already, but I'm gonna say it too. The final nights series is a complete rollercoaster that ends in a beautiful and confusing end of the loop. You should (if you want to) look into it.
@Mathcoolb You right. But company like Disney don't give a fuck, if you take their characters and shape them in a way they don't like, they just come after you
@Mathcoolb yeah no, they would just immediately pay you off to take it down or put you in so much legal trouble you could never afford. Its not that simple.
this isn't how Disney operates. take a look at how they handled the film Escape From Tomorrow, which was a horror movie illegally filmed at one of their parks; instead of fighting it in court or making a stink about it, they only stated that they are 'aware' of the film. it's even briefly mentioned in the official Disney Encyclopedia. point is, Disney knows that making a fuss about something like this will only give it more attention. more people will want to see it. their strategy is to ignore it and hope it gets forgotten over time
Fun fact: it isn't called treasure island, Disney named it "Discovery island" it offered animal showcases, but sadly closed due to reports of animal abuse
I've not looked much into them, but I have a perverse curiosity about the Five Nights at F---boy's games, so I'm gonna viewer request that series. however, just from the name alone, you'd be playing chicken with the monetization algorithm. Your narrative presentation abilities have been on-point lately. keep it up, chief.
God those games where a great laugh. Loved markipliers videos on it before he had to stop with alcohol. Some of the funniest moments of my childhood. Just a great game to drink to or get baked and have a night playing it on call with some friends.
An absolutely fantastic and funny series, I just hate how people basically ended the series prematurely by bullying the creator. It’s a thing most ppl don’t want to acknowledge or talk about, but it should still be mentioned because transphobia like that is still going on. And it sucks.
Any game with Persona references is good in my book. Nah but fr though, Five Nights at Fuccbois is an actually amazing series of RPGs that totally deserve a retrospective like this. The writing is hilarious, and the gameplay is quite fun, if a bit grindy. I especially liked the third one.
It's really cool how the original creator made small and simple games that contained teasers. It's such a creative idea and id love to see more of these kinds of these
Oh man "Abandoned by Disney" is a classic creepypasta, one of the OGs. Weirdly don't hear it talked about too much like the other classics. Probably one of the best (and my favorites) of the classic creepypastas from the early 2010's
@@concept5631 Dayshift at Freddy's, another fangame! But this one takes a completely different route and goes for a funny visual novel styled story (the wikia calls it a "satirical play novel")
Ikr, remember the jumpscare of The Face on the demo? Dawko's reaction was same as mine, I was like "What is that guy? Why does he sit on the other side staring at me?" Instead of "JESUS FUCKING CHRIST... That jumpscare made me shit my pants"
The only thing I don't like about this game is that the story says there was a mascot suit of negative Mickey, but the games all used models of the actual character. Those mascot suits have such a specific, creepy look to them that I'm shocked the remake didn't replace the models with custom ones that were closer to the story. It'd be way scarier than something that could be a texture mod for Mickey in Kingdom Hearts. I'm glad they have that one super creepy model though.
They are toons. Creatures born from a supernatural virus called corruptus that resemble disney characters. That's why the story used them instead of mascot suits.
Oblitus Casa is one of, if not THE most well polished high quality fnaf fan games ever released. I played it and enjoyed it more than I should have. Radiance did their thing with this💯
I couldn't finish it cause I got so scared by it. The jumpscares are so unforgiving, and combined with the fact you're just put into your area with almost no explanation of what you're doing there. The in between night minigames are the scariest part, cause you can get spooked in your face any time.
I remember witnessing all the drama from back in the day when the devs before radiance tried to sell shitty merch of the suit characters. Edit: talking drama, but does anyone here remember the shit that happened with radience a while back that ended up with Gomotion cutting ties with radience?
I know you said that you had plans already but I personally would love to see you cover the Five Nights at Wario's series. Granted its looks are the greatest compared to others but I believe it helps it out in the long run of giving the series its own style.
Oh the fnaw series has a bizarre story which honestly....while silly....its super fun The Virus saga as I like to call it freaked me out so much, it was terrifying....and awesome

Something I love about Oblitus Casa is that it canonizes every single Treasure Island game that came before it. Every official game, every fanmade sequel, every non-official game, it was all part of Mother's time loops.
I think if you're going to show the cutscenes in their entirety, it might help to elaborate on the lore a little. It's just a little confusing if you're not familiar with what's going on. Otherwise solid vid
@@noisebites EDIT: HIS NAME IS JAKE, NOT JAMES. I think the plot is something like this? - SSA goes to investigate treasure island - On July 23rd, 2003, every person involved in the Treasure Island case is killed and sent to limbo. - A loop occurs when the last investigator is killed, which is most times if not always James. *~ BEGINNING OF HENRY SHENANIGANS ~* *Henry shenanigans can occur in basically any loop, so you could put these sections anywhere on the timeline and it'd work out, so long as each henry shenanigans sequence is in the right order.* - During the first loop, Henry calls the main office (occupied by James) and tells whoever may be listening about his situation, before either: a) Henry is killed by Mother. or b) the signal is interrupted, and _then_ Henry is killed by Mother a little bit later. - Either way, Henry gets personally walloped by Big Momma straight off the bat. - Undying is created, a.k.a Henry from an earlier loop. - Henry is absolutely pissed because every single time a loop occurs, he gets the worst fate of anyone, and apparently remembers it, while everyone else forgets. - This is likely Mother's punishment for Henry as a result of him discovering the drawing room. - Another intern back at the base figures out the password to the vault. - Whatever's in the vault, Mother doesn't want Henry to see. - Based on Mother's ability to appear in the notepad, I can only assume that the drawing in the Vault is somehow important to her [and the toons] existence. - Mother is probably the one to actually kill Henry in [almost] every loop, and the blood writing on the walls is his own. He usually always dies in the drawing room, but once we take control and obtain the vault code, we're able to reach it and enter. *~ END OF HENRY SHENANIGANS ~* - The Face has 0 plot relevance. - Near the end of each loop, the toons merge into Hourglass and kill James [and likely everyone else, excluding Henry]. - James, though, is a crafty little shit, and every time a loop occurs, he learns, and gets a little bit farther each time. Somehow, out of pure spite, James remembers just enough to allow him to survive the loop, but not so much that he goes insane. - Mother notices this and becomes increasingly stressed out and desperate to actually kill him permanently and kick him out of the loop, but fails. - Henry notices Mother noticing James and gets an idea. *~ MORE FUCKING HENRY SHENANIGANS ~* - James eventually gets so far into a loop that he reaches the cabin. - Henry, being a weird half-ghost dickhead, leaves notes for James to allow him to get even further into the loop in hopes of killing Mother, through 1 of 2 possible methods: 1) Henry, post-mortem, wrote the notes on a notepad already present in the cabin. Supernatural entities are able to interact with paper in some capacity here, so it could be possible. Then, once James dies, the notes somehow survive a loop, which may have something to do with Henry being able to remember previous loops [and may explain why James can't erase the writing on the notes.] 2) Henry fucking booked it straight to the cabin at the beginning of one loop, wrote the notes in sharpie so they couldn't be erased, and promptly died again. Somehow neither of these options are reasonable. *~ END OF HENRY SHENANIGANS ~* - James lures Hourglass into a sealed, small room full of oil drums, freezes it with a lamp [you can see it try to kill James but recoil backwards right after], and then burns it to death. - At this point, only Mother remains. - The face still has 0 plot relevance. - James survives the night, and Mother is banished back into the darkness. - With the death of Hourglass, Mother has nothing to tie her to the park, killing her forever as a result. - As per usual, everybody except James is now dead, since the other 3 die early on. *~ NO, THESE AREN'T HENRY SHENANIGANS. ~* - Before James leaves, Henry explains the situation, how he was undying, how he was lied to about what he was doing there [which is likely related to how he ended up in the coves], and how he had been enduring the torture for _an entire year,_ waiting for the right moment to start helping out James in an effort to finally kill Mother. - This plan succeeds, and James parts ways with treasure island forever, exactly 1 year after he had entered. - James is left with paranoia and delusions afterwards, but they are just that. Mother is dead, the other investigators are dead, and all that's left of treasure island is an abandoned theme park. - James walks back into society a free man, with only an _iiiiitty bitty bit_ of trauma and a free recommendation on his resume.
Actually, technically speaking, the clip shown at 5:05 isn't really the first FNAF fan game. That honor goes to Creepypasta Castle, a now defunct and lost FNAF fan game that released just a few days after FNAF 1 came out. RiskRim did make a video on that game when it was still available, so it's not really lost, as you can still see gameplay of it.
Honestly at the end of the video really made my skin crawl, like the whole input that Flumpty might be coming next is such a good transition after this video, with the signification who or whatever video is up after this video, It will always be flumpty's turn no matter what but then again i could just be spitballing
Some food for thought when continuing this fan game review series. Games like pop goes and fnac are should get some time put aside to at least touch upon lore for an understanding as to what’s happening . I feel like this could’ve been done here as well but given how they actually differentiate based on version and the radiant games have cutscenes explaining the broader strokes this is fine. Keep up the great work and content.
"On night 4 you get acquainted with Dippie, he tries to get into your office by breaking the window to your left, but, he is also not too difficult to deal with" *get jumpcscared by dippie in the footage*
Radiance took up one of the biggest tasks in ANY FNAF fangame's history and gave one of the most popular fangame's story such a simple and satisfying ending. Making it so that EVERY fangame and version is canon no matter WHAT was such a smart move. Oh yeah, I guess there's the 'book' Radiance is doing.
A retrospective on the Five Nights at Wario’s (FNAW) series would be amazing. It’s unique art style, innovative gameplay, and complex lore all make for some of the best FNAF fan games ever made. Side note, the 1st and 2nd game don’t have much of note when it comes to gameplay. It’s the following games (especially the last one) where the series shines the brightest. Extra side note, the series creator, WWWWario, has 2 videos explaining the lore. They’re long videos, but it’s all very interesting. The ending will leave you stunned.
This explains a lot cause when I saw the remake from Radiance I was confused as I had been watching people during the development with Purity Sinner & then I lost track of things after the rouge developer or someone stole a commissioned model for the game. I guess due to the last time checking on things Purity was in doing stuff I expect the story from that to be in the version from Radiance. Still slightly confused by Oblitus Casa but your summary of characters/tricks helped
I would like to bring to your attention that slimebeast has been exposed for some horrible stuff there are very few videos about cause he silences people but i hope that people will figure this out and he get what he deserves.
I absolutely LOVE Oblitus Casa! It's easily my favorite FNAF fangame! It's very hard for me to get genuinely disturbed by monster designs, but the ones in Oblitus Casa are utterly terrifying! I have no idea how Radiance plans on making the game even better with their version 2.0 update, but I'm certainly intrigued nonetheless!
I have a game I want talked about, BADLY. Phobia: The Awakening. Wiggles animatronics, full three dimensional environments, a pretty cool story, and soon the games gonna get some PROPER voice acting in a 2.0 update! I think this game really went under the radar, so giving it some more attention would make my day!
I'd love to see a video on the Five Nights at Wario's franchise eventually, at least the official games, as it's my personal favorite fan game series, and seeing the care you put into talking about Treasure Island, I think you would definitely bring justice to a weird but good set of games. Loved the video 💛💛💛
Just got recommended this, and I dunno if it'd be of any value, but - The interesting thing about the "drama" with Purity was she wanted to redo the entire story, with herself as "God" (lol), but the way she went about it was to lie and say I made them change the story. That kicked off all the problems - she didn't want to be seen as changing it to suit herself, so she tried to put the blame on someone else for the fanbase to attack. It was nuts.
I never cease to be amazed at the subcategories of fnaf, these fan games are off the chain I dont even think this gane needed to be redeemed as it was one of the better games (or so I think) I dont know if its more insane that people spend hours analysing fan games, or that they exist in such quantities
ok but like for any local of emerald island (or carteret/onslow county in general) the creepypasta was complete bs because the residents will all tell you "yeah there's nothing out there" source? I live around there
I adore this video so much, I do have an explanation to why the island closed. I've studied abandon places for a long time both being treasure island and river country. The island closed because during the time Animal Kingdom opened and slowly but surly the island became less popular. Both river and island closed because of the same reason, not having enough guest. I hope this is helpful in someway :D Big fan of your videos!!
Hey, can I just say, I'm a big fan of these high-quality FNaF videos you've been making. I consider you one of my personal favourite creators in the community and I look forward to seeing future videos from you.
Personally, I feel like Five Nights at Wario's would be well worth looking into. The story and lore is intriguing, the mechanics are really good (past Wario's 1), and there's even some cross-game stuff for more stuff to do. The graphics are a little goofy, but I'm pretty sure that's the idea, and it works out well.
I remember I used to be obsessed with this game, I would look at all the games, videos, and the wiki. It's about time that someone finally someone talks about the game.
shoutouts to purity asking their fans to remove any traces of the game including wikis, causing my mid 2010s friend group's wiki archive to be vandalized, she even mentioned it's existence to be a "problem", lol
I believe the acronym could be "The Buttons May Show The Future", Given that it is a game of buttons showing concepts for the game. This is just a speculation though, as I don't have any proof.
Even with Closed Captions on I can't make out what's being said in that secret ending clip. The CC keeps saying "[music]" when I know it's supposed to be speach. Can anyone help me out?
I know a comment already clarified this but… Oswald was not made by the Walt Disney Company. He was made by Walt himself when he worked for Universal. When Walt left, Oswald was left behind. The Walt Disney Company did not get Oswald back until 2006, specifically for the purposes of Epic Mickey. Where I see an inaccuracy is that in the stories the games are based on, the parks were built circa the 80s and 90s, so the very beginning of Michael Eisner’s time as CEO and his slow descent into madness. Disney did not get the rights to Oswald until 2006. And the place closed down before then, so even if it did last into 2006 (even for Treasure Island, unlikely as it was eventually replaced with Animal Kingdom to compete with Bushe Gardens), Imagineers likely would not have any prototype for Oswald at that point in time. However a walkaround character of Oswald would eventually debut In 2014. Sorry for the rant just wanted to clear it up
I've done next to nothing but watch this video for the past 3 days. The horror elements of Treasure Island and your excellent documentation just have me so enamoured. Well done!
The really frustrating thing is that I couldn't understand about half of what Mother was saying and basically any of Henry's speech in oblitus casa, and I can't seem to find a transcript as of yet, so fuck if I know what they were saying.
The mother speech: No… no no no no no NO! What did you do? They were children, MY children! I took them under MY care! I protected them. They did NOTHING to you people. Until you came here.. They didn’t know WHY you were doing anything to them. They didn’t even understand what you wanted. They were scared, and you *killed* them! You people shouldn’t have come here, I shouldn’t have let you. I’ve seen what you people do before, Everything that you do here. Everytime you demence (demesne? I don't know) into something that they can't understand. Every time they push, and prompt, and poke too deep. You don’t even realize that the grass you step on, the air you breath, its all.. me! I’ve always been here. Every, single, time. Even if you didn’t realize it, Even if you didn’t recognize me. I have been here forever.. and I will be here.. Forever. But, even after the countless amount of times I’ve seen this play out, the *eternities* I've spent with you, I never thought you’d go this far. I was wrong to let YOU pollute this place. To walk all over me as long I did. I was wrong not to do anything a long long time ago. It will all end here, I will make sure of it. And look up on youtube "Oblitus Casa: Henry's Final Cutscene (with subtitles)" I hope this helps! :D
FNATR has always been my favorite FNAF fangame along with a few others, it's has a really dedicated team/fanbase and the concept was interesting. I'm a bit surprised Disney themselves didn't smite the project/s.
I personally consider Dayshift at Freddy’s 3 to be the best fan game. The reason for this is because although the situation and characters are outlandish and stupid, there is a lair of complexity to every character. One example is the story. The story of the DSAF games to this point have been stupid and nonsensical at best, but this game builds upon the pre established idiocy of the other games and transforms it into a genuinely good story. All this just too say, I FECKIN LOVE THIS FEVER DREAM OF A GAME.
I was wondering when you would cover FNATI. When it came to earlier trouble there was a lot more then what was in the video. But regardless looking foward to the next video. Keep the amazing content.
I wish all future indie horror games would have this amazing level of polish and didn't just do the mascot horror like poppy I enjoy seeing and playing something actually scary asf
There's only one mistake you made.. but it's not that big a deal.. Belial from Oblitus Casa isn't a boy. it's a girl. Because it's basically Ortensia the Cat, but with green clothing instead of pink. Edit: I capitalized the names and slightly edited my grammar. Because it was kinda shit.
Hearing this is making me remember a old obscure fan game thats set in a burger joint and had human animatronics I don't remember the name but I want to rediscover it some day maybe but if anyone has any idea I would like to hear it and no its not Jollibees it's older than it maybe around the time of "the return to freddy's 1" game
The quality is outstanding and the gameplay is so crisp and good and just yeah, it's an amazing fangame and really raises the bar for fangames in whole which i'm pretty excited about, what new fangames will have amazing quality in the future?
So a concept of game about exploring an abandoned Disney amusement park with dark secrets and avoiding whatever is there hunting you down and they went with a FNAF fangame concept? Why???
"Five Knights at Freddy's has a pretty unique spot in the indie games zeitgeist when it comes to fan created content." Me, a touhou fan: Hold my Scarlet Soda.
Theory: MOTHER as a corruptus (a entity born from the collective belief of something), is meant to represent Disney’s in-universe attempts to make their characters come to life as corruptus.
The Final Night's quadrilogy would be great if you analyzed. It is a series of fangames that not many recall much when naming a good FNAF fangame (I could be wrong). Every game in the saga steps up more and more quality-wise and I think it would be great if you did a video covering it. I specially liked the hospital aesthetic for a FNAF fangame which made me like a lot (Atmospheric-wise) Final Nights 3 Eitherway great vid and keep it up man 👍
Wow I never noticed before in that cutscene with Hourglass at 31:55 you could hear some of Donald's noises when it roars cuz it's an amalgamation of all the other Toons
