Eric Bailly is without question the best defender at United. He gets injured often because he defends with all his body. Maguire on the other hand never gets injured because he doesn't actually do any defending. He only stands and watch while pointing fingers towards others to defend.

Listen, it's only pre-season but I can see alot of positives and improvement from the way the team plays. More composure on the ball, less spamming of passes, more runs in behind, more precision in the final third and confidence amongst players. Great signs👌🏾

The way Man Utd was quick with finalizing Lisandro Martinez's signing could only be a proof that Erik Ten Hag was not happy with the pace of Maguire which led to that first goal we conceded! McGuire doesn't fit this style of football. He played the opposition player onside and lacks speed to recover. He belongs to defensive, counter attacking 532 system. Nothing else. Sell him.

I loved Melbourne's goal...it so undeniably exposed Maguire's inadequacy in a hogh defensive line...the lack of spatial awareness, the lack of pace...beautiful, beautiful goal...you couldn't have animated a better goal to demonstrate what makes Maguire so bad. Also, he took a header from a set piece that was way off target and then took an eternity to get back in position, which is something he's been doing for the last two seasons. And then the square passes around the center...he just keeps the ball...gets close to the opponent...and then gives a slightly inaccurate and pointless pass to the first player nearest to him, risking an interception while spoiling whatever attack he could've started, had he made a deeper pass...I loved the gsme against Melbourne..I loved how Maguire managed to display in 45 minutes that he hasn't learned a fkn thing and never will. Also, add to that the fact that first Baily had a great game, second Telles was decent as a cb and now we have Martinez....soon, there will simply be no reason to play Maguire. Let's just be patient for a little while longer...it's gonna happen...it's inevitable. This is the most auspicious thing about Utd atm...not FDJ or Eriksen, no....the fact that Maguire hasn't given anyone any grounds for any false hope of his potential improvement..this is what we've been waiting for. Had he scored another fluke header, or made a lucky assist, it would've made things complicated...this way, ETH will soon have all the justified reasons to fkn bench him. Ten hag clearly knew something when he brought in Malacia and Martinez, If Shaw, Maguire and Lindelof can't even defend against Melbourne players no wonder last season was so bad, a school child could get passed those three on that first goal, its like Melbourne had FIFA on beginner mode for that first goal, those three should never start for United again, Shaw was absolutely nowhere absolutely no defensive awareness.

If only bailly wasn’t injury prone I believe he’d be one of the best cb’s in the premier league by now. A fully fit injury free Bailly x Varane duo at the back would be something else. Got to feel for Bailly I remember his first season he was unreal. I hope he has more look in the future and stays fit.

That was a pretty stubborn Melbourne Victory. I'm sure almost 90% of the team will be like this against United and Erik needs to implement a system on how to break these sort of teams easily like how Pep does. Just hoping for the best and I'm 100% convinced by Erik. He will bring back the glory days, we just need everyone to back him till the end.
