Consequently, he’d agree to open up parts of his home not to tourists so much as local villagers eager to see how the other half lived. You either charged admission or turned the tours and ownership over to the county in exchange for tour access and money granted for all repairs. The county allowed you to live in it until the custodian died but it was already not your home anymore. Still, your house and family names were preserved for posterity.
