The Reign Man and The Glove Reunite! Sharing some untold stories 

These are the Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp stories we need thank God for yall.

I live near Seattle. I was in my middle school and high school years during the Kemp/Payton era. I can’t even put into words what those years meant to me. I bought multiple pairs of the original Kamikaze’s and wore them during my high school games. I went to as many Sonics games as I could at the Key, and did whatever I had to do to catch EVERY televised game. My grandparents had a giant C-Band satellite dish 📡 at the time, and that’s back when you could search the sky for live feeds of all unscrambled NBA games for free....so even when Seattle wasn’t televising a game, I could always find the other team’s broadcast and watch it...this was before they started scrambling channels and selling the NBA package on digital satellite. I was so obsessed man, watching every game was a thrill, waiting to see what Shawn & Gary would come up with next. (Kevin Calabro calling their games was the cherry on top too)....damn I miss those days......However, I do have one little gripe.....it was January 31, 1997...and my friend and I waited at the Key Arena players parking lot gate before the game (Against the Washington Bullets) to try and get Gary and Shawn’s autograph. They both pulled in at the same time and parked right next to each other....right in front of us. Literally just a few feet away. Gary was driving his black Mercedes with his ‘GEE-PEE’ license plate, and Shawn was driving a longer stretched out black car (I think a Cadillac?).....anyway, they both got out of their cars, and we were literally the only 2 people there, and asked both if we could get an autograph and NEITHER one even looked UP to acknowledge us!!! Im 42 now, watching finals in the morning in Germany and going tired to school was awesome. I was really a big fan of Seattle that time, nearly the only guy watching NBA at my school. I’m still playing BBall and watching old videos because NBA got never as good as it was in the 90‘s. I would like to thank Kemp and Payton for being my hero’s at that time! So thank you!

Growing up I was a huge Nique fan, as Nique and MJ got older, Shawn was the new Mr. Excitement of the NBA during the early to mid 90's. I saw him in 94 up here in Toronto on the USA team with a young athletic Shaq, those 2 guys were so dominant during that World Championships, they put the fear of God into those other teams! I would put a prime Shawn Kemp up against any PF in history, he can beat you with skill, and his athleticism can embarrass and put fear into the other team. I was already a huge fan of the guy, but what he said at the end of the interview just made me an even bigger fan, God Bless you guys.

Big fan of Shawn Kemp and Gary Payton. Disappointing 1st round losses in 1994 and 1995. In 1996 made it all the way to the NBA Finals and won a couple games before it ended.

Cool guys, great athletes. I'm sitting in my room in Russia and I see Kemp's T-shirt on the wall. This is a memory for me. Sonics, Cleveland - that was great! Professionalism, expression - everything that people love in professional sports. Thanks you!

Two of the biggest what ifs: had they swept the Nuggets in 94, and won game 2 in 96 Finals. Nevertheless, it's great to see 2 Legends again: the original Lob City.

Kemp looks like he has unlimited bud samples. Wait he does.😂😄 Bring the Seattle basketball team back already. Climate pledge arena is ready, and waiting. Piss on hockey! The glove and rainman- best long range connection ever!

I love and miss the Sonics, especially these two guys. They were SOOOO good. Hopefully we get the Sonics back some day, I'm sure Gary and Shawn would be involved in some way.
