Really like to see 'panicy Nigel' trying to get the best composition as the light is changing. We all suffer this syndrome so nice to see the best photographers panicing too. Can't wait to see the campavan when it is kitted out.

Great video Nigel. As far as your posting schedule I believe I would speak for the vast majority of your followers. We want what is best for you. We want your stress level low and your creativity level high. That is probably best achieved with you being as fresh as possible when you work. So taking care of yourself is the first and foremost priority for you. None of us are going anywhere. We will be right here whenever you decide to be here. As far as this video...epic as you would say. I could certainly relate to your excitement and nervousness about catching the ever fleeting light. And yes, please do a video on paper and printing. I'm getting ready to buy that Cannon P1000...one of the ones you use. All the best and have fun with than van build. Phil Arnold, USA

This is sooooo helpful! It’s great to see that even the most experienced photographers like Nigel don’t « see everything » at the time of shooting. I know I have to learn to observe more and more efficiently from different angles. Nigel’s videos teach me so much. Thanks!

Nigel Glen from the Antarctic trip. Doug and I went to Patagonia before meeting you all for the cruise. So glad you all made it out to Torres del Paine. I wish people could could fully understand the unbelievable amazement of this place and understand how incredibly hard it is to fully capture its beauty. Your enthusiasm and stress really captures how existing and panicked you can become trying to get just the right photo. I think that place had some of the most amazing light Ive ever photographed

Nigel, as you so emphatically stated in your voiceover commentary, if you had just looked through the viewfinder of the camera you were vlogging with you'd have seen how easily that tree could have fit right into the water. Then again, if you had stayed at the previous spot with that curved spiked dead tree in the middle of the frame when the light kicked off, that would have been stupendous.

Reminds me of a video I watched by fellow in England. Behind him , a gap between trees to a field , I noticed how the rising sun was showing on the trees. I watched and the light got better and better, while the fellow continued talking about finding good light. By the time he stopped speaking, thst fantastic was gone. I notice how many who make videos and talk about landscape , and will off to the country side and comment. I wonder why they don't talk while, slowly panning the area and get to see what they see.

Thanks Nigel for another fabulous and insightful video. After watching your weekly videos for some time now, I have finally Subscribed. As a Nikon photographer myself, but not pro, I have been using a D750 for many years. I'm also a passionate Lightroom Classic user of almost 17 years. With the release of the Z8 last year, I thought it might be my dream camera. Inspired by your assessment of the Z8, I took the plunge and purchased one nine months ago. Since then, I have upgraded my lenses to Z versions. A very happy photographer. In this week's video, I noticed that when you shot a bracketed set, the Z8 shot the entire sequence with only one touch on the screen. It took me a while to work out that this happens when the self timer is set. Thank you again Nigel for your excellent channel. I've learned another useful feature of the impressive Z8. As for deciding to slow down, good on you. Take time doing the things you love.

to me, I think you're the most relatable photography RU-vidr. When I'm on big shoots on my own I tend to start talking to myself, vocalising each step to myself when I'm feeling overwhelmed cause it helps me understand what's got to be done to get the shot I want, helps me feel less overwhelmed. I also give myself encouragement like you were in this one. I've been making photography videos for 3 years now, doing on-location videos like yours and others, so sometimes I'll be recording during those overwhelming, manic times. However I've noticed when I'm recording I talk less to myself to avoid the viewers thinking I'm strange for talking to myself. I think you've shown me that it's ok to include that and that it's part of the story of the shoot. I love your videos mate.

@NigelDanson I definitely agree, I try to show authenticity in my videos as much as I can, mainly including it to tell the story (like my failed attempts and other stuff). I'm still getting comfortable with showing that side of myself on camera, though. The side others might think is strange

Gorgeous photography, lovely enthusiastic video and what a jaw-droppingly magic place, Nigel! If I had to choose between Antarctica and Patagonia, I'd pick Patagonia, hands down! Somehow I sense that you may have felt more comfortable in spectacular and colourful Patagonia than squeezed in a zodiac with many people in that polar freeze and hazy whiteout ... I would, anyway. Glad to see you happier now than a couple of weeks ago, even beautiful Pebbles looked as worried as you did in your last video! Just pick your rhythm, do what you like, and we will happily go along.
