A lot of newer 4wd vehicles don't have either manual or automatic hubs. The front drive train is always connected to the wheels, and the front diff and driveshaft always spin. Something else that you wouldn't know unless you have owned a 4wd with manual hubs, is that unlocking the hubs at any time during the winter will cause it to snow.
@roberthudson1959
@roberthudson1959 Год назад
And the bad thing about that is that you are sternly warned against driving on dry pavement with the hubs locked.
@jw2218
@jw2218 Год назад
That’s an absolute truth about the hubs and snow same with putting your snow shovel way too early
@tylermacconnell217
@tylermacconnell217 Год назад
Ford Super Duty still has locking hubs. They are all automatic but can still be manually locked if the auto function fails and are just as strong as manual. RAM and GM trucks use a center axle disconnect which decouples one side of the axle to the wheel, resulting in not turning the ring gear and front driveshaft while not in 4wd

People who think that MORR has to resort to faking jobs to get content for videos don’t live in tourist areas! I’m not saying that tourists are just naturally stupid, but you don’t know what you don’t know when you are a tourist! And rental car places will tell you that you are renting a “4 wheel drive vehicle”, when it is really an “all-wheel drive vehicle”, and there is just a WORLD of difference. Even a “real” 4 wheel drive Jeep is only a 2 wheel drive if you get it high-centered, “katty cornered” or even just get two same-side wheels in a mud hole. “Locking in the hubs” - just say that’s what puts it in 4WD. If they don’t know what locking in the hubs means, any narrative about axles, transfer cases, etc., is just a waste of words.

What a beautiful and challenging trail! A true test of the best of the best vehicles and drivers. Loved it.

Kinda rocky though. Why can't they pave those roads there?

There's almost enough tire rubber left behind to qualify as pavement in some places@@UberLummox

i have an 88 Chevy Suburban with Auto Hubs and a 74 GMC pickup with manual hubs, i much prefer the manual hubs, because with the auto hubs if you cant move you cant lock them

We had Two Jeep Wagoneers in the 60's and both had locking hubs. I think it was the late 60's or very early 70's when jeep came out with their new system and it was buggy even back then.

The 88 4Runner, my last manual locking hub vehicle. The push-button locks on the 99 Tahoe seemed far more than 11 years in the future...at the time

Spray a little squirt of WD-40 in that latch and your light will stop flickering! My ranger does that on occasion. The latch works but the button gets stuck in there

Watching old XJs making obstacles that JK and JL struggle with look easy never gets old. Love the XJ platform, best Jeep of all time.

That drone shot makes it looks like micromachines, almost 2d in a 3d world. Hard to explain, but I love that cam shot and the settings whatever it is. Great drone shots

Not just another recovery. LightBright getting stuck is usually a tough recovery. Great stuff.

you guys really should use winch dampener bags to place over your lines. it a bit of a worry when your climbing over lines that are under high tension. if one snaps while you next to it. you could get seriously injured, people have even died from snapped ropes and chains. so please invest in some, there cheap as. hate to see anything happen to you guys :) thanks for all the awesome content. its a pleasure to watch and you are all awesome

Automatic systems are kinda buggy he says @1:28, while the overhead light blinks on and off again with each bump. Love it.

The Banana is completely insane. It has to be the most iconic XJ ever right? Is there another, better known, XJ? Leave your answers in the comments, and don’t forget to like and subscribe! ;)

Manual hubs are the best. I added them to my Ram 3500. Now I have 2 low when moving my camper, and that is a big help.
