Great video, I love Resolve too. While I paid for Studio, and have 0 regrets, one thing that I wish I had done was just buy a panel, because you get the Studio license free with purchase of a lot of Black Magic gear. You can also just kind of look at it like getting $300 off your camera or other hardware.

I've heard a lot of people saying that same thing. The thing is, very few people actually know that you get a studio license with a lot of Blackmagic's hardware. Feel like they need to advertise that a bit more 😅

FCP was my daily driver and I teach editing at a university using Premiere Pro (because thats what the university offers) but I had the opportunity to shoot lot of Black magic on a project over the summer - which I am not editing but I thought this would be a good time to get my feet wet in Resolve. I had a project come up making a short promotional video and went start to finish in Resolve, learning along the way. A few quirks aside I found it to be really intuitive and very stable. The studio tools helped with matching footage and pulling the most out of a couple of the questionable cameras we used on set. The color grading was daunting at first but after a dozen youtube videos I started to get deeper in and ultimately got pretty comfortable. Audio is the only thing I did outside Davinci because I already had a workflow and a library set up in Logic Pro. At some point I will dig into fairlight and Fusion but for now I'm very happy with the edit and color tools!

Thanks for sharing! Learning a new software is always a little weird but I feel like Resolve has been the easiest one to switch to for me personally. Any time I've tried picking up a new software in the past there's been much more of a learning curve 😁

I like resolve because it has everything in one place. (Studio version) best part is that when color managing and grading in groups Fusion build-in can handle CGI color grades at the same time as the other footage.

Sjoerd is the GOAT!!! He has some of the best color grading on RU-vid IMO. Keep up the great work George and thank you for highlighting other awesome Davinci Creators!

Totally agree! All the people involved in this video are great and definitely deserve the recognition not just in the context of Resolve but all around filmmaking. Thanks for dropping a comment!

Fantastic video, switching to Resolve was one of th best decisions I've ever made as an editor/vfx artist and considering this software used cost like thousands of dollars just some years ago and still being used in the biggest blockbuster movies, the $300 price tag is a steal. Also, 10:14 no way Alexandra legit looks lke Alexandra 😂

Glad you liked the video! And yeah, Resolve Studio offers insane value for the money. It's honestly no wonder we've been seeing people making videos about switching to it left and right over the past few years 😁

@@georgekamenov_ One of th most underrated gem in Resolve studio is Fusion. It's one of the reasons why I switched to it because I was doing more VFX than editing and grading and Nuke was 10K and now it's 4.5k per year where with Resolve Studio you get Fusion studio for Free which used to cost 6K before as well. They are practically giving away these softwares.

I enjoy it a lot. I was using Premiere Pro primarily and then switched to Resolve for personal and freelance projects. The voice isolation and new transcription features are really helpful. I initially started using it because, like the person in the video, I was using it to color when I started taking that aspect more seriously. Eventually I said instead of round tripping why dont I just try to do it all in Resolve. I still miss After Effects but Im getting used to Fusion.

Thanks for sharing! I don't personally use Fusion much but from what I've heard from others that do, it's actually really capable when it comes to a lot of the stuff you'd need to do in AE. I kind of think that the node based system is actually more intuitive, but then again, I just really hated it any time when I had to work with After Effects back in the day 😅

@@georgekamenov_ yeah, I think Im just so used to layer based for motion graphics especially. I feel like node-based is definitely better for compositing. Animating text and logos and graphics takes a little more for me to wrap my head around in Fusion. I also miss all my After Effects scripts and plugins (looking at you Video Copilot Element 3D).

9:45 he can use magic mask in edit page by just saving magic mask node in fusion as a macro 😅

just my opinion resolve will never have user customized ui feature like premiere pro coz all the panel in resolve is one or two click away. while editing editor must have quick access to all the pannel without digging through menus. Currently you can resize the pannel as your workflow needs. They will improve upon current UI workflow into more user friendly manner for new users. Blackmagic need to acquire as many users as it can because of their pricing structure. Their first priority is new users or user switching from other NLE then comes current users of resolve.. they also need to cater towards current user. More users brings in more new user. they keeping current user satisfied by providing new feature becoming competitive to other NLE. More feature in studio version more free user will switch to studio version then only they will make money. second step of blackmagic to make money is to sell their hardware like speed editor, keyboard and color pannel. Once the editor get in blackmagic ecosystem they will remain their for life. Blackmagic is clearly targeting content creation sector effectively that's why people are switching to resolve
