pro photographer trying to learn video editing better. your videos woud be exactly what i wold watch to learn. you seem to have a more well rounded knowledge and perspective than just the pro editor who is a master in a very tiny niche. i guess that would be a success story for you.
@@mountainmoments Hey, appreciate it! I'll do my best to provide a more well rounded look into video editing as it relates to filmmaking down the line. Hope you stick around 🙂
The media page basically does everything you explained in the first part of the video, only better. There you can move clips that you like into folders, name them, add in/out point. It's just the same exact workflow only better.
I wouldn't say they're a waste of time. They're just meant for a different workflow than what some people are used to and that's okay. I personally really enjoy using my speed editor and find that it makes certain parts of the editing process a lot faster and simpler for me 😅
@@frequency_sequencer Well, in your specific case you might not want to look into either. That said, the big keyboard is also made to work across all pages, not just the cut one. But like I said in the video, that depends on if you've set up custom keybinds already, because in that case, using the editor keyboard might be more confusing than helpful.
George: Thank you for this video. I really appreciate the time you put into it. However, it seems to me that you are not using a teleprompter to deliver your messages and are, instead, speaking extemporaneously. That’s fine but with the quick cuts you’ve made your message comes out very quickly. My husband was in another room as I was listening to your video and he came up to me and said, “That man never takes a breath between sentences. He speaks faster than I can understand or ponder what he’s saying. That’s very distracting.” This is not my effort to sabotage your work. I follow your channel and think you’ve been very helpful to us over the past “twoish” years. But, I use a teleprompter for my videos and I think it makes the presentation of my message more natural than “rapid fire” sentences, which is not how we humans speak. I hope you take this in the tone I mean it…that of a fellow content creator trying to help others deliver their messages well. Jay Creighton🙂
I use a teleprompter for some videos but didn't for this one. Honestly, sometimes when I do, depending on how I'm feeling that day, the video comes out as if I'm being held hostage and recording a ransom video 😂 I'm trying to find a good balance between using a teleprompter for the more difficult videos that have more technical information in them and not using it for ones where I'm able to talk about the topic more freely. But I agree that sometimes the fast cuts can be distracting. I am constantly experimenting with how to make my videos in a better way so we'll see where it goes down the line 🙂
Honestly, I wish you released videos more frequently because they're gold! I was actually trying to figure out how to add a grid the other day!. I have it setup on my external monitor but when I do zooms it was a bit harder to make it perfect. Thanks a lot!
Happy to hear I was able to help! I definitely want to get back into uploading more frequently. I've been really busy over the past month with a bunch of things but my schedule is starting to slowly clear up and I'm planning on doing my best to start uploading more consistently again!
Doesn't have to be complicated! Once you make a point to look out for these things it gradually becomes something you can do without even thinking about it, almost like second nature. Glad you liked the video though!
Thank you so much for this absolute life saving tutorial! ❤ You are just right on point and explains the fact. I love it! Also I have a little question to ask. When I zoom into my preview window with the scroll wheel and try to drag around for spectate, it seems doesn't work. It only zoom into the centre point of the window. could you help me to fix this?
I guess its a quick tutorial and you needed to get the content out, but your example audio of the plugin, walking in the forest, sound like total trash. You should step up your game.
@@coin777 The second you say that sentence seriously is the second you've officially missed the point in RU-vid. But you're correct. It is a job for a lot of people, to a certain extent, myself included. So why not make it as dull and uptight as possible by worrying where a microphone is placed, right? 😂
These are great tips that no one really covers. Also at 1:44 it is easier to just copy and paste the project and rename, rather than Open in Read Only Mode as you might miss-click Open. This is important because when Resolve updates, if you open your project with previous version, you can never go back to it if you decide to downgrade to previous version. I learned this the hard way. :(
Hey man,, appreciate all the help with these tips. My biggest gripe has been with audio and slow motion. I was hoping you could help out. 1. When I am unable to decide whether to do slow motion or not, I drag the click on timeline, do the fps change to 23.97 from clip attribute, instead of keeping the same clip only in slow motion, it takes out the part of the clip that was extended due to slow motion. This has been a time cruncher. Also once slowed down and wanting to keep the same 60fps, doing it via clip attributes show that media is not available. 2. How do I sync all different source of audio with the video clips? I usually have two rode wireless pros internal recording, in camera recording of both channel from receiver, zoom H6 clips, Is there a way?
Thanks! That cleared things up. How do you arrange and manage mouse, keyboard, and speed editor on your desk? It seems like you'd have to switch them around constantly.
@@michaelhornbek2983 Not constantly. I'll just usually have the speed editor in a drawer right next to my desk and when I'm going to be editing I pull it out and set it right in front of my keyboard which I push back a little bit so that I still have access to it. Then when I'm done with the cut page I'll typically move the speed editor to the side and bring the keyboard back to continue editing.
This is a great to the point tip video. One thing though is that flash between cuts messed with my visual orientation for a second or two; most likely because I'm sitting in a very low lit room, I'm not usually sensitive to that stuff but I honestly wouldn't have even thought of mentioning it if it wasn't significant. The second and third I just quickly turned to my head away. Anyway I just thought I'd mention it, I do appreciate your videos thanks for posting, they're very helpful
From the outside looking in it is kind of annoying actually as petty as that might sound. Not in any significant way, but I would be lying if I said I haven't lost just that little bit of respect for some of my favorite channels because it makes it seem like they think holding a mic is somehow going to translate to channel growth. It comes off as desperate and out of touch. They look like trend chasers, which is something I have always tried to avoid on youtube and the channels I like are unique and creative, so it's sad to see these people who I have been watching for years suddenly blindly follow such a meaningless trend. Not to imply that anyone owes me my particular version of authenticity through their work. Just explaining why I think it bothers viewers.
No, I get that part. But a lot of people genuinely don't do it because it's a trend and instead because it makes it easier to record something quicker and get it out there. And also, with how many people bring it up nowadays, some creators have started doing it ironically just for a bit of fun. Don't look too deep into it 😅
