Hes 10 times or more stronger than I am, but its tough watching him struggle. We don't see the struggle from most of the top guys. Thanks Martins, it helps us to work correctly on our own weaknesses.

I definitely appreciate you not only showing the amount of focus and effort it takes to train around an injury, but also knowing when to call it a day when you're too exhausted to have that focus. It only takes one mental lapse to cause months or years worth of setbacks.

I am wishing you complete recovery and health. But I am also laughing a bit. I'm 67 years old, and still working out daily, but you sound like me. Every day is a new and different pain. Yesterdays pain is gone but today's pain shows up in a completely new place. It is like playing whack a mole....never know where or when it will pop up next. Wishing you the best.

Glad to hear a speeadsheet is good enough for you Martins! That's what I use - I'm sure apps are useful if you're following a specific programme that's built into it, but if you're just recording your sets and tracking things over time, a spreadsheet is all you need.

I think maybe what helped the bicep feel better on that last set was you already got a lot of blood flow and thoroughly warmed it up. Maybe for now you can warm up with isometrics and get one decent working set at the end and build from there

Try using a cable machine with the height up to your chest area, and pull the weight to your opposite side using a hammer fist motion. It should be similar to doing a shoulder rotation where you only keep your shoulder stationary and rotate your elbow toward your body and outward. You should feel your pec and upper (long-head tendon / origin) feel tight when the side of your fist touches your chest and a release when you return the weight to the front. (movement is a wiper motion) anything pulling with the left/right toward the opposite side with only bending at the elbow and flexing the pectoral will help your long-head.

Sometimes, when I watch videos like this, I'm glad that I'm only a amateur strongman. Don't get me wrong. If I had the potential to be one of the best, then I wouldn't watch my health and go all in. But after my career I probably wish I hadn't done all that. That's why I'm happy to remain an amateur strongman forever. Then I won't lose the fun and won't be a wreck in my old age. But it's not called the Wreck-It Gym for nothing.

I had pain doing lateral raises and biceps curls. Doing lengthened movements really healed a lot. The journey is still ongoing, but it's looking good. This is the stuff: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_9Mpf4RmoUA.html Ps. Sissy squats are still icky, just saying.

Bicep tenotomy is great, there is never pain and impingement in the tendon anymore and you get a cool popeye bicep and a scar.
@mikeloper2381
@mikeloper2381 28 дней назад
Martins, Don’t cut the bicep tendon, that’s stupid! You lose 30-40% of your strength. You really should get that looked at and have it repaired. Get an MRI.
@jaakkotyni2342
@jaakkotyni2342 28 дней назад
@@mikeloper2381 yes it was more of a joke, but a hint of truth in it, the strenght decrease is not actually that bad, and training pain free can even help with the lifts, www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4168656/ Larry Wheels is one example, I think that his torn bicep arm is his stronger arm wrestling side

Yes it was more of a joke but a hint of truth in it, the strength decrease is not actually that bad and training pain free can even help with the lifts. If you Google the studies its more like 10% and if the compensatory muscles get stronger it may be even less, with a little different torque in spesific joint angles. It all depends how the tendon is doing. It also helps with labrum problems because the long head attaches to it. One example is Larry Wheels I think that his torn bicep arm is his stronger arm wrestling side.

You have been off for months and you quit a workout mid way through seated bicep curls? I've watched your career from back when you had corn rows so I have been a fan along time , maybe it's time to step away Martins, it's ok to be normal, there's other ways to be involved in the sport. Best of luck.

It’s strategy. He knows how to get strong as he says in the video. I see where your heart is, but trust the man with the accolades.
@bdegrds
@bdegrds 28 дней назад
@@TylerSmithMusic1there is no strategy to quitting doing something as simple as seated curls, that's a cool down exercise. This is not the training that won him wsm, Eventually the fight leaves the lion.
@TylerSmithMusic1
@TylerSmithMusic1 28 дней назад
@@bdegrds I strongly disagree, and if you watched him prepare for the arnold he won, as well as the rogue you will see the training vlogs always focused his rehab and mobility more than strength. I see what you are saying but it’s overall negative. He is tired from doing jujitsu and recovering from the wear and tear from years of just heavy weights. Not trying to start anything but this sows doubt into any normal human being. Just asking for you to not give up before the person who is putting in the effort does..
@bdegrds
@bdegrds 28 дней назад
@@TylerSmithMusic1we are all entitled to our own opinions but I've been training for nearly 30 years, trained clients for more than a decade, so I do know what I'm talking about. It's not negative to tell the truth, if he was doing some squats and things were not feeling right and decided to do it the next day that's different, to quit on curls under any circumstance is a bad sign, those don't take much energy. Many competitive athletes work full time jobs, have families etc, training tired is normal, getting in good training when tired is what separates people, more than the perfect program, technique, reps, sets. If you only train when things are perfect you will never train.
