The resurrection of the Revox A740 stereo power amplifier

So yeah. My A740 works again too. Full recap, few new transistors, new pots and a deep cleaning with cosmetic restauration. One issue left with the left Meter though. The needle is moving a bit when putting a 1khz testtone in and i cant adjust it all the way down to -40db. Right Meter works alright, so i guess it could be a faulty transistor. BC560b or so maybe. There was a blown cap on the Meter board (C2 100uf). So back to the bench :)

Holy Hifi man! What an awesome amp. Hooked it up in my main system and it sounds so good. Never heard such a holographic transistor amp. You are right about it, no colouration and very transparent.

Oh and i realy like that it has an inrush current limiter already installed. Thats pretty unique.

Hey Mr Dewald, I have a Revox a740 and a b740 and really want the lights on both vu meters replaced and also on my b740 the right side vu meter isn’t working.

Hello, could I ask what kind of led you have installed in the VU meters ? I think the voltage is 63 volts or so in the bulbs and I would like to replace the original filaments with led . Thank you very much for that and for the good video. Cheers, jack from France

Great video. Id be curious what you discovered in the schematics regarding the -Rail that couldnt be detected. Im about to restore one myself and as a beginner i search for every good bit of info i can get :) Realy nice wirk btw. I admire your dedication!
