This was probably my favorite Battlebots episode ever. Absolutely incredible matches. Hypershock is an absolute monster and i hope Will Bales sticks with this version or something very similar for next year.

Same here to be honest, the amount of power hypershock exuded was absolutely terrifying. Plus the driving skills from will were on point, if he does stick with this version it will make a very deep run into season 7.

I think they'd come undone with a bot that takes advantage of when they flip upside down. Or if their forks don't get under the opponent, that will be a problem (P1)

Gigabytes shell was unbalanced, which is why they weren’t able to attack HyperShock since the wobbling kept its wheels from getting a grip.

I noticed the wobbling in the post fight replay, it seems Hypershock wasn't the only bot affected by those impacts.

This episode was probably my most favourite, purely and simply because of Hypershock vs Gigabyte, the best highlight for me was Will Bales' facial expression at the end of the fight.

BTW The reason the shell came off was because all the bolts holding the shell to the pulley all pulled out of their threads. Also Gigabyte was still fully functional at the end.

18:30 - When a major structural component such as a weapon shaft or a full-body spinner's vertical axle breaks, it's not usually down to a big single hit, but to the cumulative effect of repeated smaller impacts (wear and tear) over days, weeks or months, causing metal fatigue leading to sudden failure. The only sure way to guard against it is to do what the aviation industry does with things like turbine blades and landing gear legs - replace components after a set number of hours of use, or X-ray them or use ultrasound scans to detect any changes. Unfortunately, for robot combat, both options would be prohibitively expensive, so all you can do is live in hope and avoid fighting vertical spinners too often. The micro-cracking is completely hidden otherwise. Before X-ray and ultrasound scans, railways employed 'wheel-tappers' to check for cracks in locomotive wheels and axles. Trained men would use steel hammers to hit the various forged and cast components, listening for a clear, clean ringing sound. A damaged or failing part would sound like a cracked bell or in some way 'just...wrong'. Hard to imagine the robot combat community getting into wheel-tapping, though...

Finally Im able to keep up with this after finding a free streaming service with decent quality. I dont mind the current format(your video format) at all. Love to hear your take, as always. I also love that they stretch the content out this year and didn't do a bounty hunter, which for me was to soon after and without the stakes of a championship and the chance at a trophy.

Feels like Gigabyte could have pulled out the win if only they could drive well enough to hit Hypershock in the rear end once it's drive was compromised. I really didn't think it'd be all that difficult... and then the just drove right into the weapon again.

I'm grumpy and mean, so I hate that kind of fakery. The sport doesn't need any more Merkinese wrestling-style enhancing. By all means clean up the combat arena audio feed - isolate it; run it through a whole string of compressor-limiters; boost it; maximise it. Whatever. That's fine. But adding ridiculously OTT impact sounds to real robot combat is just pitiful. It's as naff as overlaying Adam West era Batman fight graphics on a professional boxing match. "WHAM!" "POW!" "OOOF!" "P-P-P-PUNCH!" "ZOINK!" "BLAMMM!" Oh, please...🙄

This bracket singlehandedly made me into a Hypershock believer: season 6 had started to do it, the upgrades & changes they'd made just worked and worked, but the hits Hypershock was dishing out were just insane, the Gigabyte fight especially, total evisceration of Gigabyte, reduced to atoms. Now we know what they can do when the stars align like that, christ they're gonna be one to watch against the rest of the champions!

I remember I made a comment along the lines of how I had no hope for Hypershock because they could have easily one their p1 fight yet lost and their previous history of the robot itself. Now I see they actually are looking competitive since season 4.
@TheBigBadForumTroll
@TheBigBadForumTroll Год назад
Hypershock is a amazing robot, design wise and concept wise. They have made some great changes, focusing on making a robot to suits Will Bales(it seems). High speed, high maneuverability and decent damage. The down side is of course its a robot that really dont afford to many mistakes. Even with the wheel upgrade. Which means, its performance is very much up to which alphabet letter Will bales decide to bring. And this episode he clearly brought the big fat A (clearly stolen from the sign of a Gigabyte fan).

I feel like the BB showrunners were waiting a few months for the bad taste of the Season 6 finale to fade before they showed us this proper successor to Bounty Hunters, but all it ended up doing was leaving a lot of people confused as to whether it will be shown at all. After that spectacular run of fights though who can really complain at this point? Now I'm hoping for a REMars 2 drop before the start of Season 7 proper. All the love to you and Anthony, I'm hyped for that Antweight Anarchy but hoping you're both on the mend.

In the replay of the 'bounty fight', I saw that at one point Gigabyte got off balance after that double hit from Hypershock (that caused the transceiver glitch) thanks to the slow motion. I don't know how well Gigabyte would have been able to capitalize without compromising itself Also, Matt Maxim cameo in the Gigabyte team before the fight Also, a LOT of good sportsmanship between Hypershock and Mad Catter, as well as Hypershock and Gigabyte I hope that they can keep up this pace for the rest of the bounty fights, though they did say it was 6 episodes before they get to the 'tournament proper' (Where Tombstone, Endgame, and Tantrum will finally get some stick time) before they revealed the Gigabyte bracket

This was a good episode, from the fightcard I assumed it would be Mad Catter vs Hypershock for the right to fight Gigabyte, but I dont think anyone predicted how devastation of a run Hypershock would have in this episode! Clawviper once again showed why having a rambot would be good for Battlebots, its Storm 2-esque speed and power makes it a serious threat as a chassis. Would love to see them evolve to maybe grab hold and ram other robots around rather than suplex.
@d.aardent9382
@d.aardent9382 Год назад
Yeah its interesting nobody has made a grabber bot that has a powerful magnetic arm r something to screwup other bots or a serious control set-up to hang on to them and super strong drive to just push them around and smash them into the box walls. I guess that would be kinda what Sawblaze does though. And there was Complete Control that was a lifter, but dont recall any really amazing fight they ever did to which its purpose worked extraordinarily. Oh i guess Gruff fits that description of lifter and pusher. Oh and Vladiator was basically that too.

Gigabyte did better than most of its challengers last year. I don't know what Hypershock did but they are basically reached god hood now. I am confident however last year's Hypershock if they even got here would probably have been crushed by gigabyte but quite clearly this is not last year Hypershock. Gigabyte barely had a chance. I said barely cause I feel that if gigabyte decided to keep attacking they may have actually won. But unfortunately they lost that chance AND BIG TIME. Gigabyte probably was the only with any real difficulty for Hypershock and not by a lot.

Does anyone else almost find it a bit suspicious how good they were? I don’t know what I’m accusing them of… maybe they’re using plutonium or something… but really how did they get that good? They lost to P1 during the season!

It was odd that SMEEE's cutter looked like it was held in with rubberbands and just sort of popped up and fell out at one point. Then Valkyrie's blade just gets separated and quietly continues the battle by itself over to the side while Valkyrie gets mashed up. I started yelling "Rigged! Rigged!" After two bots with funky damages. Lol I mean ive never seen Valkyrie's weapon shaft get sheared off like that ever unless im forgetting something.

Hypershock has never been a bad bot it's always has been good but it has been pretty inconstant. With them use too finishing the bot last minute (sometimes when you see them fidgeting with bot when there rolling in there actually putting on the touches), and sometimes being aggressive gor example during valkyrie the first time the dominated them but Will keeped going at it lead to them getting pined at almost losing and in the same P1 fight they accidentally drove at it wrong lead to the momentum of there speed to flip them over. Main reason Hypershock did well was because Will was aggressive but not being to aggressive where they would leave them self open to a mistake. Also P1 isn't a bad bot is it going to go far in tournament probably not at least with its current design but it still went 2-1 this year and last year before the top 32 which is present impressive
