I think the Megumi being dead theory, just falls flat. Just because Chapter 143 was literally foreshadowing to this very moment. Yuji was distraught he couldn't save anyone. But Megumi said he should start with saving him, which would be poetic showing Yuji kept his promise and will fulfill his one of his goals, narrative speaking.
With the series very close to ending, I feel like to have a truly satisfying ending, we need to see Megumi come back, at least in some way where he can interact with the rest of the cast. His story thus far has felt very inconclusive, and considering the he's practically the Deutragonist of the series, I feel like it would only make sense for his story arc to have some satisfying conclusion, rather than just ending by being consumed by Sukuna.
i disagree whole heartedly bring him back would be just as bad as bring gojo back. both would ruin the story. I thinks him be consumed is a prefect ending for him.

I'm pretty confident Megumi is coming back - there is no definitive confirmation of his death. Even characters that didn't get a proper farewell got some signs of definitive death like flashbacks or last thoughts except Megumi. Plus, Yuji has to be involved in Megumi's end in some way - trying so save him, being impacted by his death etc. (Megumi literally gave him a reason to live after Shibuya). Yuji and Megumi are also interwoven with Sukuna, both are soaked in his curse energy and have reason to hate Sukuna on a deeper personal level. The storyline just doesn't feel complete with Megumi dying here, especially because he's one of the more fleshed-out characters
I don’t think he’ll be coming back but I do think that he’ll be key in Sukuna’s downfall. It’d take a lot but something might wake him up and turn Sukuna’s body against him, similar to Geto choking Kenjaku.
I'm worried what will Megumi's mind be like? He only wanted to become a sorcerer so that Tsumiki was save. Worse than that his hands were used to kill Tsumiki and Gojo. The people closest to him
I kinda feel like he wouldn’t care about anything no revenge nothing, just empty. I think Yuji ends up absorbing/eating his soul which will be one of the keys to beating Sukuna, because you got technically him fighting with Yuji giving him what left of his technique. It’s just hard to see Megumi just coming back for vengeance other than weakening from inside, but I feel Sukuna could also absorb him if he has to.

If megumi comes back he's fighting powerhouses, making the rest of the shikigami more or less useless, even when combined, you saw Agito get destroyed in one shot by Gojo.

Out of the two big bads the only person who can just one shot mahoroga is sukuna. Kenjaku hasn’t shown the ability with destructive power to do so. An untamed mahoroga adapted to 15F sukuna, I personally don’t believe Kenjaku has that level of output in single attacks. There’s no real planning with Mahoroga, it’s “don’t die” that’s literally all it takes for a win con. To me that’s just lame, but to each his own. Sukuna didn’t even use Agito to its best abilities, Agito had RCT and he didn’t use it once when sukuna could’ve hid in the shadows with it and healed himself. Not really a good comparison, especially when we know Agito was only there to prolong the battle so Mahoroga could adapt. Everyone with half a brain knew Mahoroga would adapt and that would be the cause of Gojo losing, we just didn’t expect it to reach sukuna how to cut infinity properly
I see Megumi coming back only to kill himself and stop Sukuna, maybe after Sukuna is weakened. This would mirror the scene of Yuji retaking control of his body after Sukuna ripped his heart out, effectively killing himself, as well as Toji’s suicide in Shibuya. Maybe he’ll get to speak to Yuji one last time, like how Yuji and Toji spoke to him before they made their sacrifices. Then again maybe Gege will just torture him for another 20 chapters before confirming his death, god only knows what Akutami is cooking in that malevolent kitchen.
Honestly, as unlikely as it seems I feel like Megumi's soul is still in there somewhere. Gojo knew that Sukuna paused his reincarnation and according to all other cases, the dominant soul essentially kills the weaker one. But Gojo still said with certainity that Shoko would tell Megumi about his dad. That and Yuji's soul switching and getting the book about the soul has been built up for wayy too long to have no impact.
I hope he comes back completely different to be honest. After all that’s has happened to him, I want him to come back no longer meager, and with his sister gone, his caretaker dead, and knowing he is basically a do or die scenario, I want him to let go everything and become the next enlightened one. I’d especially like it if by watching Sukuna he realizes the true potential of his technique, and uses it to become the next Gojo. Now I also want Nobara to come back and literally kill Kenjaku and also become a calamity herself as well, but that’s just me lol.
Maybe the "1 in a miillion" thing about being a capable vessel only refers to people who come along naturally. like what if Megumi is the 1 in a Million person who is naturally able to be a vessel and Yuji doesnt count in that ratio since his conception was manipulated specifically to be a vessel.

Yeah the amount of people who state that Megumi is dead is BAFFLING. When I heard No Operator just so nonchalantly say "Oh, I guess Megumi is dead at this point, not surprised" to Sukuna getting old body back, I was like "BRUH WHAT??? Do you know how awful that would be from a writing/character development standpoint???" It would probably be the worst mistake Gege has ever made if it was revealed it was already dead.
Put this into perspective the main reason megumi ever did anything was for his sister she was the reason he became a sorcerer. She was the reason he continued to fight, and she was the reason he managed to put himself in the culling game. He would murder for her he would like for her he would do anything if it meant making her well again, and making sure she stayed safe. But the revelation that she was a reincarnated sorcerer broke him because it meant that everything he had done up to this point didn’t matter because now his sister is trapped in her own flesh and he can’t do a thing about it. Leaving only yuji to live on after the story wraps up in a bittersweet finale where yuji becomes enlightened by the all events and either ends all curses or holds all of them eternally. Setting aside his own wants so for the greater good and suffering all the while is a yuji thing to do
One theory I have is that, now that Sukuna has gotten his original body back, but Megumi's soul is still within him, his situation will be the opposite of Yuji's: Instead of Sukuna inhabiting a body, it's now MEGUMI that's inhabiting Sukuna's body, meaning he would be able to manifest and speak from Sukuna. He's just too weak to do it right now. With Yuji fighting Sukuna, he could very well wake up, since we've been hinted at numerous times Yuji's technique will have something to do with the soul. Hell, maybe it's not even his technique, just some knowledge from Yuki's soul research.
The biggest hint for me that Megumi will come back is the progression of his domain expansion. I see the progression specifically as a “chekhov's gun” of sorts. I think we are going to see his domain fully realized by the end of the story. I was worried that Sukuna was going to use it, but with him reverting to his true form, that just solidifies (to me, anyway) my theory that Megumi will come back and use it. I also think he’ll possibly use all the negativity that has accrued recently to use a barrierless domain to potentially get himself out of the depths/use the depths against Sukuna. Maybe even kickstarted by Deadly Sentencing targeting Megumi?? 🤔

Personally, I always thought the reason why Megumi survived taking on a finger was because Sukuna's finger was poison that Yuji could handle, but the finger that took over Megumi was Yuji's and not biologically Sukuna's. This lacking the poison aspect.
I think megumi is gone bro. Unless gege wants to create a plot hole. Angel said when reincarnated sorcerers fully reincarnate into the hosts body they completely destroyed the original bodies soul. Sukuna was original living in tandem with yuji, but yuji was the main one on control. Then sukuna lived in tandem with megumi, he broke megumi's will to live so he can be in full control of the body while megumi soul is still there. In his fight with kashimo, sukuna resumed the reincarnation process and completely overrided megumi's body, this should've also destroyed his soul like angel said. I bet sukuna probably can't use the ten shadows anymore.

I love how you looked at the narrativa reason why he has to come back one way or another: the overall story is just incomplete without Megumi's part to play. And Yuji's motivation to save him is useless if Megumi's dead. Yuji has never managed to save the people he cared about: his grandpa, Junpei, Nanami, Nobara, Megumi when he got possessed and now Gojo. If he can't even TRY to save Megumi, then his character is useless. Not to mention how Gege kept the new weird soul power/knowledge that Yuji has a mystery so that it can come as a surprise later. Because of how much this soul stuff has been highlighted during the entire series, it's only normal it will be all used to try and and free Megumi's soul. How it's gonna happen I have no idea, but one way or another, even if just from the inside, we'll see Megumi again. And yeah, as the video says, there is literally no evidence that Megumi died after Sukuna fully reincarnated, so there is no reason to believe he just died between when we last saw his soul during Gojo vs Sukuna and now

My theory of taking Megumi back is actually very simple but highly likely to happen, Yuji will learn of a way from getting Sukuna's soul back inside him therefore being once again Sukuna's vessel freeing Megumi in the process, since Yuji is the only person in history that can supress Sukuna
I do think people tend to forget examples of a soul overriding a body and how it truly works. To be honest, we’ve already seen a Soul override a body in making the body what the soul is. But after the soul was gone, the body came back. If it’s true what kenjaku said it’s one of the same then it should be possible. These two examples. Kenjaku and Geto. Tojo and necro granny’s grandson. Starting off with the former. When kenjaku caught Gojo in a seal. Gojo somehow someway brought someone that someone being geto. Someone is so close to gojo to react against the person taking over his body. Meaning, at least some of the soul is there. Despite dying. Then with Toji and grandson. Is even more evidence that it’s possible for megumi to be alive. Because after toji ended the battle the way he did. The body of the grandson came back to normal. Well, yes, some could argue that’s because he was dead. He got a remember under grannies curse technique toji were still like puppet. We’re all he knew to do was fight until I break. Which, despite tojis soul taking over. He was still under the curse. But still needs to consider there is no binding Vow between megumi or sukuna. And just because sukuna’s form is back. Doesn’t mean megumi can’t come back. This being shown a hint in toji’s 2nd death and geto’s reaction. Which I believe gege put these two scenes here for the moments to come.

"Nah I'd come back". If Megumi returns as a character it would probably be for a short time and then die. Similar to Yuji when Sukuna pulled out his heart.
"Let fate toy with you, before you die like a fool". I dont think Reggie curse would be more fitting than actually having him comeback because he has mostly failed at everything he set out to do. He got the two most important people of his life killed and if you dont limit it could potentially get Yuji killed. Ultimately him coming back and getting a hollow victory against Sukuna would play the part of the fool perfectly because that victory would mean nothing since he has lost it all.
i was re-reading the manga and that part hits me like "dude, this its gonna be D: " but I want him back, and if the best scenario helping itadori to fisght sukuna .
Ultimately, the purpose of any form of manga/comic is to tell a complete story of something that conveys a idea or theme just like books. Character are designed to create conflict and make progress in stories through completing their character arc thereby conveying the theme. So before this character arc is complete, a normal writer wouldn't just remove the character from the story once and for all. Megumi's return is most likely going to happen simply because at this point in time he is still an incomplete character and a good writer will never abandon a incomplete main character in their story.
my head cannon is that megumis soul is essentially pushed back into a corner in his own body by sukunas soul. the story so far hasnt gone too in depth about the soul mechanics but we know its super important and has some correlation to CE. Yuji will probably be the one to "punch" sukuna out of megumis body considering he has a good feel of the soul since his fight with mahito
He'll be back in the story 100%. I'm not sure how much he'll be back, but his soul will fight Sukuna at some point. I think they will wear Sukuna down to the point where Megumi will be able to fight back, but I doubt the end of the fight will have a happy ending.
Part of me REALLY wants to see Sukuna try to use the 10 shadows again only for them to turn against him as Megumi is their "true owner" who controls them. Something like Mahoraga turning against Sukuna with an attack at the last second when he's otherwise counting on the support in combat. There's also the fact that in theory if it's possible for ANYTHING to break Megumi free and separate his body/soul from Sukuna's control it should be possible for Mahoraga to do that, as the entire concept of his abilities are the ability to adapt to ANY technique, which would obviously include Sukuna's possession.

They claim that Sukuna switched with Megumi every time he was hit with a Domain or Purple, meaning he's dead. Not only did they never say that (as far as we know, he can't FORCE the other person to take their body back. Sure he can give up his will, but far as I can tell, they have to be willing to take back control... And why the heck would Megumi do that after Sukuna broke his soul 💀 makes no sense, they're contradicting the story.) but also, when asked, they never gave evidence to support the claim, instead relying to "Read the manga again". I swear they're reading fanfiction. Sure, Megumi might be dead and I may just be on copium, but if Gege wants a character dead, he'll make sure we know. Don't listen to fake fans who apparently want Megumi to be dead. (It really seemed like they didn't like Megumi)

Holy.....The last few minutes talking about Toji's strengths being passed down to Megumi made me realize its been in our face the whole time. Think of when Toji was brought back by the old sorceress' seance. Im convinced hes going to take his body back over from Sukuna and Yujis soul swap will come into play somehow.
Sorry i think Megumi, entirely ignoring the feasibility of him being saved, will not return or only for a horrible death. That is literally the only way I see Megumi coming back. Because he doesn't need to. His character is done. His journey with Sukuna was just Sukuna grroming him to use his body like a pedophile. We all jokingly call Kenjaku the Orochimaru done right, but if Kenny is Orochimaru done right, Sukuna is Orochimaru done perfectly. All of Megumi's journey was to prepare him and now entirely break him without regaining his freedom or retribution. Yes, I said it, Megumi will not even be avenged. I don't know how but however Sukuna will die will be very unfullfilling, because it has to. All of JJK since Shibuya is about failure and the futility of success. That is, why saving Megumi must be theoretically possible as a goal. Despite said possibility requiring the defeat of Sukuna (which imho is blatantly out of the window) but the whole narrative of JJK now actually hinges on Megumi NOT being saved. The way the story went, it would almost feel narratively wrong to kill Kenjaku and Sukuna. The story will not flow right ending on a high note. Since Shibuya every victory, even the breaking out of Gojo was futile in the end. So I have no idea what we will do with Sukuna, but Kenjaku's merger is going to go through before he dies (and his death won't change anything) and Sukuna at the very least narratively needs a self-destruct button. A massive high note like saving Megumi would actively destroy the story Gege is building. Especially with a character that does not have any role to play anymore. And yes, I do think Megumi's story was completed with Sumiki's death and his soul tanking the 4 infinite voids. Maybe Sukuna can discard his body now opting to fight as a cursed spirit, but that would be the only thing that makes sense. For a mangled broken and unsavable Megumi to be thrown away after being used.

To me, it's pretty obvious that megumi will come back to the story given that he is a major character in the series and we didn't get a definitive flashback or death acceptance by sukuna nor megumi
So like i always had this idea since the the TEN Shadows is so fluid Sukuna could try to summon mahoraga at some later point and it attacks him..Only to reveal megumi's soul or will is living inside the shikigami You think maki can split sukuna soul from megumi using the blade. The reason you can dmg a soul is because you can see a soul percieve the space it resides in. its not physical space its a weird metaphysical space... Sukuna was able to dodge the Sure hit of gojo's void but literally holding megumi infront of him to take the hit.. You think if maki aimed she could hit sukuna and physically move him to edge of the position away from megumi giving him space to breath not so sunken to the bottom

Putting it out there now. Yuji will die while Megumi, Gojo and Nobara will all survive. Newest chapter with Kenny makes it so clear that Gojo is alive. Been clear from the beginning about Megumi and Nobara.
I don't know if I think Megumi is gonna return, I do not want him to die, but it would be very compelling to the story if Yuji we're to realize that he couldn't save Megumi.
Megumi is coming back but instead of in the story he materializes from geges shadow and proceeds traumatize gege for making him go through absolute hell
