I love imagining a guy in a security guard suit spinning around frantically in his chair muttering and yelling to himself and occasionally booping the bobbleheads on his desk.
Every time mark looks behind him to check the prize counter I think he’s checking in a pocket dimension between his legs and he’s looking straight down
If I got constantly called by my friend nagging about safety and reminding me of my family drama which I can only escape and keep my mind off of through work, I'd be annoyed too.
Honestly by like the third night Henry's constant *Hey William how are you* right into *BY THE WAY HAVE YOU DONE THE S A F E T Y* got real old. Henry comes across as a massive dick in this.
Sometimes I forget that FNaF related stuff is so scary to Mark because it's his fear of mannequins and animatronics. Yet, the franchise is one of the reasons why he's so well known. It's basically a curse to continue for him lol
i have automatonophobia as well, but watching him helps me watch Fnaf if that makes any sense. It’s easier watching someone else play then me play by myself, and Mark comforts me
hm. IIRC, he was on the news because of his slenderman videos, shortly before fnaf released? i uh... i might have Dissociative amnesia from those years. not quite sure, haven't seen anyone about it.
Yeah, most fangames aren't that scary anymore. (not saying they're not. Just saying they're that scary) This one goes back to the roots of 2014-2015 FNAF of being trapped in a small and cramped room with limited power and cameras being your only defense.
@@jendouglas9781 The thing I find so fantastic about this game is the ambience, the sudden sounds along with the up rise and sudden tension of sounds and instruments keeps the player terrified
@@sulphurous2656 some people like the thrill I don't, it was the same when I was convinced to ride the 200 ft roller coaster at Bush gardens I hated it and will never do it again gave me way to much panic attacks
no kidding! it's the first time in a LONG time that i've been legitimately scared by a jumpscare. like,,, threw my phone, accidentally smacked myself in the face, full body jump, silent scream kind of scare LMAO
I’ve been desensitized by FNAF scares, but this one actually made me jump. It feels exactly like fnaf 1, which I think is arguably one of the scarier ones. Feels better being scared with Mark rather than alone
I really love this sort of limited animation that the creators used in this, it makes everything really snappy and genuinely makes it more freaky with the scares.
You know, it's kinda funny seeing Mark be annoyed by the constant mentions of safety in the phone calls, but from what I understand watching the lore videos on RU-vid, Henry was *absolutely* barking up the right tree there.
Okay, the “Peekaboo!” heads of Fred and Bonnie in the doorways near perfectly lining up with their art on their closed door is a beautiful and just fantastic touch. It adds eeriness, a sense of them still watching you. Like there’s something _so good_ about it design wise. Hats off to you, dev(s). Clearly there’s a lot of good things to say about this game, but I wanted to point that one out.
Props to the devs from managing the capture the intensity and atmosphere of the original games incredibly well. If you had told me this was a mainline game I might have believed you.
I've not been caught by a jumpscare in 4 years. I fucking jumped when he shone the flashlight at Fredbear. This aside, the game is actually genuinely creepy because the characters move and feel like they really do have an intent instead of being 2D pngs.
The timing on that “new bunny one” and Bonnie immediately pulling a Peak-Me-Boo has a striking resemblance to how Foxy could pull up during the phone call in FNAF 1
The fact that there is so many scary animations before the jumpscare, some without even a warning of what you will see, it creates a really terrifying atmosphere, and I'm here for it, really show the difference between doing a game for the money and doing it for love, props to the devs ✨️💪
The art of the monster just outright fucking with you really is a lost one. Little details like something consistently moving around in the game space for example can do a lot for atmosphere and to unsettle, while the impression that the monster is playing with you, or that it knows where you are even when it can't get at you and shouldn't be able to know, do a lot for creating genuine fear rather than shock, though this entry does still rely heavily on stress and shock rather than proper horror and tension but that's kind of just a symptom of being a game made in the FNAF 2 mold more than anything. Aesthetically it resembles FNAF1, but the constant presence of stressors to induce panic and lend the jumpscares impact, and the need to abandon vigilance for a timewasting minigame [with the puppet again, natch] was really central to the FNAF2 formula, as well as FNAF 4, compared to the more languid, tense experience of non-4/20 FNAF 1 or the relatively easy ride of FNAF3.
I love how Freddy's and Bonnie's faces kind of line up with the illustrations of them on the doors when they're trying to come in, looks hilarious even though it's scary :D
I noted that as well, literally feels like the door is part of the jumpscare, especially the little, "Hi There!" Feels like Freddy is saying it when he jumps in.
Yeah, it's great design too! They create comedy just so you feel like you are being played on, they create contrast between hoy they normally look and how terrifing they look lurking in the dark trying to kill you and it keeps you thinking about the animatronic that is still on the other side of the door. This fangame uses humor to somehow make the experience much more terryfing beyond just the uncanny valley.
@@ElChirpo Yeah exactly, kinda like how using a little salt can paradoxically make the sweetness in a food stand out more by contrast, I feel like the visual comedy serves as excellent seasoning that not only makes you laugh but also ensures that you don't get too jaded by the horror aspect
i like that william in the picture will occasionally have the iconic purple guy face then switch back when youre not looking and whether it was lixians editing or the actual game it was still cool
This is the first fnaf game that actually made my spine shiver, even if it's not official, the breathing and the animatronic trying to talk and get closer are really unsettling, i love it.

I absolutely love the design of marionette in this game. It's actually so much more scarier than the original! Love the original design as well but this one has a crazy charm too it
bro i was watching this while drinking a smoothie and i knew i'd get jumpscared watching and i still spilt smoothie everywhere on my keyboard and desk 😭 this games is scary !!!!!!
Loving how this game does the whole - jumpscare that doesn't kill you- thing that fnaf 3 tried to do with the phantom animatronics, like when Freddy popped his head out the door with a CLANG it got me everytime x'D well done devs!!!
This is the first fnaf fangame I’ve seen that managed to capture the atmosphere and “feeling” of the first games. It’s a refreshing experience. It’s honestly better at capturing the “fnaf feeling” than Steel Wool, imo.
That's not exactly a high bar, since the only game that Steel Wool has done in the series without Scott was literally the on NOT designed to get the atmosphere or feeling of the first games. So Steel Wool clearly did something right.
@@deadersurvival4716 I dont know I think they bit off way too much. Fnaf had one room. Security breach was 20 times bigger than it needed to be with 1000s of bugs. They should of focused on a good game with more elements in smaller areas, instead of a huge map with no scare and endless wandering.
The small details really elevate this game. Even just the transition effect from moving camera-to-camera gives such a polished and "official FNAF" feel to the game.
@@fwheels7776 Listen. I'm not going to defend the game. There's not much redeemable about it, but there is one thing I will give it credit for. People hear "FNAF" and think horror, but let's be honest with ourselves, how much of the last few games have been actual horror and how many have been both players and theorists beating their heads against every wall that they can find... Basically everything after 4 (though, to be completely upfront, I'm working off of community words and actions moreso than my own experience, since NONE of the games have been scary to me) has been scarier to the theorists to anyone that knows the basics of storytelling than the actual players of the game. I'm going to take a wild guess (based on basic logic and human psychology) and say that Help Wanted was never MEANT to be scary, and the fact that (amongst all the failures and bugs) Steel Wool did one thing right. Made a game that was never supposed to be like it's predecessors entirely unlike it's predecessors.
I've watched mark play multiple fnaf fan games, but this one is definitely one of my favorites! The jumpscare at 6:26 literally made me physically jump and my hands went limp and I dropped my phone😂🤣 then I just burst out laughing at myself lol
Agreed lol. I have headphones on, and the Freddy noises on the left ear cup are so scary. The first pit Bonnie jump scare was like a hit to the gut 😂 Thank you guys for so many likes ☺️
The sound design of this game is phenomenal, with all the animatronics breathing and such and such. It feels genuinely a little unnerving listening to all those sounds.
Man gotta give props to the creators for using the Half-Life 1 grunt voicelines for the animatronics. That's a genius idea since they do sound very robotic.
What I find so scary about this game in particular is the sound design. Like sometimes when markiplier closes the office security door you can hear the animatronic scraping against the door
And the fact that the eyeless Fredbear makes creepy noises all the time, making even someone who just watches the game yell at mark:"shut the goddamn door" even though it's not a thread yet, is just really well made. It never stops and always reminds you that you're not safe and exposed to them while the door isn't closed.
Yes! The sound design is amazing! I was on the edge of my seat for once and usually I don't get scared because of the disconnection of watching someone else play but all the noises and slow build ups really spooked me when the jumpscares did come! Like I jumped every time he flashed the animatronics when they were right in front of the door.
Probably because it's almost entirely Source engine noises. From the Left 4 Dead door and flashlight sounds, to the Half Life 2 physics noises, and even right down to founder and CEO of -Aperture Science- Fazbear Entertainment being nothing but Portal 2 references. Not to mention the quiet animatronic noises being Human Grunt voice lines.
@@brian93724 Foxy runs at the door and knock at it. Here it's more specific, you can hear the fingers scraping against the door and it adds something. A sensation of fear. You can imagine the animatronic trying to open the door or just scraping against it because the door just shut in front of it
I love all the references that this “phone guy” makes to all the fan fnaf books XD it’s so awesome to hear. This game is well made and fun to watch markiplier play since I would be to much of a scaredy-cat to play this on my own ;-; 😂
i love how mark gets scared of horror games but yet can’t stop playing. i also love how he screams and growls at the game. one thing that is also horrifying for me is, the music. the music box that plays i have a music box that plays the exact same music… i still have it in my room to…
When you realize that Markiplier is actually this terrified when playing through not just a FNAF game, but any horror game then he truly does feel like he is the king since he was still brave enough to get through it.
@@ezaf5989 this your first time watching mark? you can easily tell when he is scared just because his reactions are identical to his old ass SCP videos from like 10 years ago.
I feel like mark is becoming more immune to horror games and seeing him somewhat genuinely horrified is refreshing cause he somehow turns his fear into comedy 😂
12:13 “And to be honest, they’re giving me the heebie-jeebies, especially the new bunny one.” *AND THEN BAM SPRING BONNIE POPS OUT* dude the comical timing is everything
"frantic mode" and "Im a dead man- Im dead" Ah yes. The beautiful music of Mark and FNaF. Also watching Mark legitimately startle at jumpscares will never not be funny.
@@amurtigro698No he doesn't 😂. There are plenty of games he hadn't finished (little nightmares), but I will say he's typically more consistent than other RU-vidrs.
i agree. i saw mark uploaded the first video and decided to try it for myself first since it was on my followed games list on gamejolt, and i played through the whole thing (minus 20 mode), and it was a fantastic and high quality experience that you'd expect from official games (maybe even moreso!). i got jumpscared so hard once that i unplugged my earbuds and ripped them out my ears at the same time xP
6:26 This is the best screamer I've seen EVER! It absolutely sudden, very frightening, it`s basis not a loud sound, and when the door closes you realize how funny it is. FNAF screamers have never scared me, but then I screamed out loud!!!
Return to bloody nights really captures the horror that fnaf 1 tapped into, the distracting audio that overlaps any important audio cues that stresses you out because youve now got to double check that the sound you heard meant something, the rare scenes and extra mini games you can find by chance/luck, really makes a great ambient jumpscare survival horror
the music stings when the animatronics are in the doorways are so well timed and the perfect amount of startling without overstaying their welcome. so good
Not only did Freddy's/Fredbear's appearance make an unexpected sound, but there was also Mark freaking out at the same time. That was genuinely scary. (6:29)
I grew up with this game since it was out, I was like 7 or 8, and I always come back to Mark playing fnaf when I want to watch him and he isn’t uploading
Love that the creator put in characters from the book. Henry, William and mentions of Charlie. Also getting a back story of what drove William to insanity, and begin killing.
@@DarthZLOL3 same here. Lol. Don't get scared like that. But just the popup gets me. Especially since he wasn't able to watch cams enough so it was unexpected
something about the way this man handles horror games is like watching a cowboy sitting on a little wooden cart with wheels being towed by a herd of wild horses at full gallop and driving them across a little rope bridge with a sheer drop either side
loooveee the mini jumpscares of the regular two popping in at the door. makes me jolt so hard when not expecting it despite not being super loud or anything. its really nice
One of the things that I genuinely admire the most about this game is the sudden peek into the door from the animatronics. It makes me jump every time! The whole game itself looks and is created amazingly!!
So many fan games don’t utilize what is such a great feature. When the animatronic arrives at the door, they arrive at the door even when you’re looking at it!
I genuinely think this fangame is one of the best. Although I'm watching someone playing the game, it makes me feel I'm in the office. the scraping noises on the doors and the constant Fredbear voice are perfect
I love the little references to the lore form the fnaf books in this game, like the talk about the time travel ball pit from ‘Into the Pit’ and the reference to the phone guy’s body being replaced by scrap metal like the girl from ‘To Be Beautiful’ It’s really cool to see them sprinkle little bits of lore from books into the game’
@@meganmcintyre7576 he said in the last vid briefly on the second night i believe right before the phone call started he said “that’s me” and i’d assume it’s about the voice actor but i’m not sure.
to me it felt like they were going for a Cave Johnson from Portal vibe (in the spirit of reckless entrepreneurship). even the role of the assistant, Karen, reminded me of Cave’s assistant, Caroline.
6:38, 6:46, & 7:24 Seeing Mark make strange and wacky noises means he's scared. I haven't seen him squirm like this since the original FNAF games. Bonus at 15:21 16:04 When he goes into the camera, switches to another screen then right back out reminds me of the FNAF 1 days when he was explaining how to do 20/20/20/20 mode, just flipping up and down the screen quickly to get what little information he needed.
This is the most contact stress I've gotten from a Fnaf game in a long while, feels like a custom night almost, the phone call only tells you about one or two animatronics meanwhile there are 4 or 5+ coming for you out of nowhere, really keeps you on the edge of your seat.
I love how fast paced this game is. It never feels like youre waiting for the animatronics to make a move, because at least 2 problems are on your ass at any given time.
Something about the way they do the scares in this game actually gives me this weird sinking feeling. It's not like the other games where they just pop up from the bottom of your screen and then scream at you, it actually turns your camera and you feel this doom as you hear them running up to the door. I also love that they give you nice short jumpscares before the real scares. Like when they play peekaboo at the doors, or the suddenness of the puppet disappearing in the back. All the other games, for me at least, were really easy to not be scared by. 4 was probably the only one that was kinda scary, because you had to rely solely on sound queues and if you missed one, that jumpscare would be loud and unexpected as shit, but this game does it really well. Also, hearing the Ooga booga randomly from freddy, who was just creepy up until that point was hilarious. I heard it twice in this video, he just goes "ooga booga" or maybe I'm just hard of hearing.
@@TheMadManStudiosOfficialyour game is a MASTERPIECE. The jumpscares of them being at the door is traumatizing, and the art and atmosphere are really creative. My favorite mechanic is the generator heat instead of limited power. It adds a different type of challenge from what I can tell. Not that I’m brave enough to play it 😂
I love the panic and the frantic moving. It reminds me of when Mark played the original series. Also, him saying "the instincts are coming back" made me so happy. The jumpscares were also really good. I haven't been scared by one in awhile.
