Get ready to throw down with this one - way down. An all-new baritone design with a 26-3/4″ scale neck that’s long enough to deliver thunderous lows, yet short enough to play like a normal guitar. The best of both worlds! Strategically positioned Railhammer Gnarly 90 Bridge and Tel 90 Neck pickups keep the tone tight, and our custom SIT 12-68 gauge string set (available separately) features a plain 3rd for easy bending. Feeling the itch for that baritone growl, but don’t want to feel like you’re playing a bass? Then the Descent H90 is your ticket.

Just picked one of these up used. Played it in the shop for about 2 minutes before I knew it was coming home with me. Looks great, sounds great, set up perfectly, plays phenomenally for a bari. Wow.

Besides being a flawless virtuoso, Koch will get into a groove, let you settle in and get complacent, and then start doing something like those little finger trills just to remind you that, oh, yeah, this is the best electric guitar player you've ever seen. Just in case you forgot.

I own a Reverend Club King 290 and absolutely love it. But I have yet to see a good demo of a Descent because the people that do it are guitarists who have little historical sense of the baritone guitar and have not explored the instrument enough to show it in the right light. I did not dislike the vid or give it a thumbs down, but I am not buying a Descent based on this (or any other demo of it that I've heard) because the people they select to do it have no idea what they are doing on a baritone guitar, even if they are great guitarists. I will be buying an Eastwood Sidejack Baritone because I saw two excellent demos of that instrument and I know I will be able to get what I want out of a baritone guitar from the Sidejack. If I take a chance and buy the Reverend for $300 more than the Sidejack and then find it doesn't give me what I want, then I will lose the $300 when I sell the Reverend because they depreciate rapidly (I picked up my Club King 290 in great shape for $700 used). It has nothing to do with Reverend in my case. It has to do with the demos not showing me what I need to see out of a baritone guitar. No sale on the Descent. Sorry Reverend.

After years of thinking about getting a baritone guitar, I narrowed it down to three potential choices -- the Reverend Descent, Gretsch Jet and the Eastwood Sidejack. Of these makers, I own only a Reverend (Club King 290) which I absolutely love. Yet, for the baritone I chose the Eastwood Sidejack, and I would like to tell you why so that maybe Reverend can fix the problem, which has its roots (from my perspective) in the demos I saw on RU-vid of the instruments. I am seeking the retro twangy baritone sound (think of the sound in "Apache," "Twin Peaks Theme," "Blue Monday" and so on). The Gretsch had rounder sounds in all the demos I heard, probably awesome for solo jazz. On the Reverend and the Sidejack demos, too many masturbators eager to show their chops demonstrate that they do not have the sensitivity to the baritone guitar instrument and overplay the instrument with no sensitivity to the feel or sound of the slacker strings. Or other types stay in the pitch register that they are comfortable with on a standard guitar, so I am not sure what the purpose of "baritone" is to them. Both of these types demonstrate one thing: they don't know what they are doing with a baritone guitar. I care about details and specifics, because sounds generate meaning within social contexts and I am after expression of meaning, not wankery or meaningless sound in a social vacuum. Although I believe the Reverend MIGHT be able to give me the tone I want (because of the special tone controls), but I have no proof of it on RU-vid. So -- as beautiful as the Descent is -- why would I pay $300 more for the Reverend that might give me what I want (and will depreciate in value) when I know the Eastwood will because I have heard two people who actually know what they are doing on a baritone guitar demo that sound by actually playing some of the songs I mentioned above as well as showing other applications. My advice to Reverend is to advertise this instrument using people who know what they are doing on the baritone guitar and have had some time to explore the Descent itself, and show me how it can make some classic sounds as well as maybe some others in its palette. While this guitarist is awesome, he seems to be just doing what he does on any guitar because he was put on the spot. Please fix your demos -- I did not see one of Descent that was acceptable, so I went elsewhere. Thanks.

Great video. I am seeking to get an actual size pencil tracing of this guitar body as its about 2/3rds the size of a traditional Jaguar. Could we connect via email and make arrangements? FYI, I am planning on making a handmade acoustic hollow body version and thus I seeking the tracing and size of this guitar?
