I could kinda see it as some sort of Stadium Stampede hybrid, where everyone starts on the end zone of the football field then they have to race towards the ring? I don't want to _watch_ it, but I could _see_ it work.

And Tanahashi had already been IWGP champion twice when arriving at TNA. Ya gotta remember NJPW said after that tho that they'd never work with TNA again... I'm glad that isn't the case anymore.

So because its not mentioned in the video, its worth noting that the tournament final of this tournament this battle royal ''set up'' was the infamous ladder match between Christian and Kaz where the contract falls off of the clipboard midway through the match and Christian and Kaz spend the rest of the match fighting over an empty clipboard. Oh TNA.

8:25 IMPACT brought back the reverse battle royal on the preshow of Slammiversary a few years ago and that time I remember the commentary specifically stresses that you have to enter the rope over the top rope.

This is the first time Ive watched this match, and it was so much more boring than I thought it would be, considering how much it was hyped up. It was... nothing. The one take away I have from this match is that I see the hype for Motorcity Machineguns now, and I'm on board.

TNA actually did a variant of that already. Called the King of the Mountain match, where you have to pin an opponent to qualify to climb a ladder, then take the belt from a referee at ringside and hang it from the hook above the ring to win it. If they drop the belt, the referee retrieves it and they have to start over.

They should have made it so that you can only enter the ring via the side facing the hard cam. Change the colour of the ring ropes on that side with tape, and just make it so that you can only enter the ring through that one part, making it more realistic that it would be possible to keep people out.

It’s a dumb idea, but if you wanted to at least make the first part work, you should’ve just started all the geeks from the top of the ramp, and them all brawl to get in while they make they’re way. You could have the smallest guy outrun everyone and just make it in. Idk. I’ve never seen this match, but that would be better than the goobers standing around

Hard agree. I do think there's a way to produce/book the reverse battle royale part "correctly" if you must do it, and starting them much further away from the ring is definitely how you do that.

In my head, this match would have meant something if it went a specific way: 16 people at ringside, bell rings, everyone brawls outside for two minutes, then a buzzer sounds off and people can get into the ring at that point. Once 9 people are in the ring, it becomes a regular battle royal. Then every elimination in order is seeded 1, 3, 5, 7, 2, 4, 6 and 8. The last man standing (9th man) goes into the final for the title automatically, then the other 8 are in the tournament to determine who their opponent is in the actual last match. Unfortunately, it does not go like that because Vince Russo is an utter moron.

Please tell me at some point you guys are gonna do a Pacman Jones "match". Not necessarily because any of them were bad, though they were, but because Pacman wasn't actually allowed to wrestle so it was mostly just R-Truth doing ALL of the work while Pacman stood on the apron.
