YG the rapper has absolutely nothing to do with the Korean YG. Others have explained it in the comments so i'll skip it. The British artist is Dua Lipa. You've probably heard some of the stuff (New Rules, One Kiss w/ Calvin Harris, Don't Start Now, Break My Heart) on the radio or at the playing in the stores. She made it big a few years ago, but I think you're partly right about these Western artists trying to expand into the Asian countries where Blankpink is definitely more popular. So in a way, they're both helping each other out. Selena Gomez said her IG followers went up by 1 Million in one day when her collab with BP was announced. The acoustic cover you heard in the background was a very stripped down version of Whistle. When you watch the music video, you'll be super confused because the song is not like that all. There is also an acoustic version that was released but nothing like this cover. Their most acoustic (almost country) sounding song is called Stay. You should check it out after Whistle.

If you're still trying to memorize their faces: JENNIE: very beautiful CAT-LIKE eyes and the most adorable chubby cheeks you'll ever see (99.99% of the time she's wearing some sort of CHANEL item since she's the Global Ambassador of the brand) LISA: the easiest to recognize, ALWAYS has bangs. I mean ALWAYS! You see bangs, it's Lisa lol ROSÉ: the tallest, very slim figure (beautiful), has the highest voice (high pitch) JISOO: the one with the most "Korean like" features (classic Korean beauty). Unluckily, BLACKPINK don't get enough credits for their participation in the songwriting of their songs. This a fact. For example, Jennie admitted that she wrote Stay in one of the behind the scene video that I found on Twitter. I think that it is clip of one of the episode of Jennie Solo Diary. This video have English subtitle. In this behind the scene video, Jennie reveal the reason why she felt very emotional whenever they performed Stay live is that she is the songwriter. Jennie literally cried when performing Stay live. I also found out that after they release As If Your Last, they have an interview. During that interview, Lisa admitted that she wrote the rap verse for As If It Is Your Last. She even said that it is longer than she expected it to be. This interview was all over the news in South Korea. During an interview, Tushar Apte one of the producer who work on the BLACKPINK's song Love To Hate Me reveal that Danny Chung and Lisa work together to write the rap verse for Love To Hate Me. However, they never got their credits for their work because YG didn't put their names on the credit list where it should be. 😃

I think the Dua Lipa collab was mentioned because she’s big in the US and UK so she did sort of help them branch out more, even though they definitely have a much larger following than she does in general. You should definitely check out some stuff from her. Especially her song Physical or Break My Heart.
