I actually love the fact that Mord is green, as that used to be the primary colours of Noxus and when Swains rework pushed the story forward they aligned it more with Darius's colour scheme(Cass, Riven, Draven, Katarina(Red Hair, but green grey outfit), Swain were all green). So it makes sense to keep him Green as he is aligned with the Old Noxus, ruled by his descendants and the Darkwill, so story wise I like it. However, I will agree that in-game readability is very confusing with the Shadow Isles.
What? that green energy is the magic of souls and the dead. Blue is arcane red is blood greenish is souls. Tha black mist comes from the deathmagic ritual that viego performed. Mord is literally the ruler of the realm of death of course he has the same magic. Wdym?
Katarina's old wallpaper is green because they wanted to keep to the green theme without being forced to add green to the champion itself, which makes it all the more funnier when Talon release showed that they gave up on the green completely.
@@Arrsenal Its not shadow isles color. Its the color of the dead. Shadow isles is just the main instance where it comes up. Morde being the other main one
I like that Mordekaiser is green, actually as a case study alongside Gwen. Mordekaiser being green despite not being aligned with the Shadow Isles and Gwen being blue despite being aligned with SI makes a clear statement that in Runeterra, necromantic magic as a whole has that Teal presentation, not just the Black Mist. Because even though Gwen also uses a magic mist from Helia, it is different because she doesn't use necromancy to weild it. It's enviromental storytelling.
@@skkadoot9533 that still can fit into what I was saying though. He uses Necromantic magic, but not the same specific magic that binds the spirits to the black mist. And that's why I have the Gwen counterpoint, because she uses baeically the same spell, the mists of Helia before they were corrupted by the Ruination, but because she doesn't use Necromancy, her aesthetics aren't green.
Gwen isn't "aligned" with the Shadow Isles. She's from there, but she fights against the Black Mist, choosing to be a positive force in the world of Runeterra
Considering the voice actor made the voice of a horror character like Funtime Freddy , Molten Freddy or Moondrop confirms the terrifying vibe of Fiddlesticks created by Kellen Goff.
For voli being groomed, nordic people like the vikings were actually very focused on looking presentable and being clean. And volibears form can change based on the worshippers. That’s just the way I think about it.
but it was said that the base volibear is what he is to himself same as ornn its his purest uncorrupted form i think rune volibear was when he used to wear armor from ornn so i just think voli is an oldschool tribesman who raids and hunts
I think Nicky missed the point there, just because you think people should embrace the land as it is and live like their ancestors preserving old traditions, that dosen't mean that vanity is completely off the table The conservative natives from my country have some pretty heavy cultural meanings for all their trinkets and clothing
For volibear the old ways are hunting for your food, fight for your place to sleep and resist the winter's cold, there's no reason for him not to groom himself if he want to
@@Soulxstar To build on that, grooming is necessary for survival in the wild. It is not purely done for aesthetic reasons. Good hygiene is paramount for survival, hence why pretty much every single wild mammal does it.
@@wariat71 raka was a full vgu and even he acknowledges the lack of skarner in the outro. most of the rest of that list didn't get the visual part of the vgu tag. While ryze might be on his 7th rework he still only got one vgu.
Poppy and Yorick deserved to be waaaay higher. Nothing about old Poppy was salvageable (as in, she was basically unplayable as far as I recall) and still they managed to keep a lot of the stuff she had (R "nullifies" opponents, charge E, damage build, W is now actually interesting) while making her a lot more fun to play. Also she's cute as hell now. And for Yorick, I get the over-reliance on the ghouls. I have M7 on him too but that's like, one aspect of the entire rework and not enough for him to be this low :( Regardless, no way they're worse than Ezreal lol, which changed close to nothing. In fact I'm not even sure he qualifies as a rework. A lot of these are VGUs where some are just VUs with minor kit changes (like Morg, maybe Twitch), so it's kinda hard to even put them on the same tier list.
Q is also pretty much just a more interesting version of the old one. Super short range short cooldown damage dealer, except now not just a super basic auto attack reset. Though in regards to Ezreal: Reworks should be judged accordingly to how much they improved *compared* to how much they changed. Ezreal changed very little, true, but the one gameplay change they did was a really damn good one, plus the visuals were across the board solid. I agree poppy should still be a tier above though. Yorick i'm unsure whether he deserves good or great tier, but I agree rating him so low just because of 1 flaw, with nearly no regard to how good it was besides the flaw is a little shortsighted.
i honestly wouldnt want to see old poppy with eclipse collector and essence reaver since it had a 200% ad scaling and she was litteraly invincible if she ulted a low damage champion.. people forget how this little shit was litteraly the most broken assassin along with kata and akali.. also yorick was so busted that even after the nerfs he got riot purposefully never talked or made skins on him (like trundle) since if they buffed him he would 1v9 every game and if they didnt he would remain shit.. trundle was also ultra busted with 40% extra ms and 45% tenacity on w making him almost cc immune with MR boots.. yorick was uncounterable pre rework since manamune permaspam strat with his insane hitboxes could take you to diamond in three days..
depends on how long ago we're talking about old Poppy, hybrid burst Poppy back in like S1/S2 was an absolute dive machine that 1-shot E-Q most champs under turret and walk away with zero damage thank to her ult blocking tower shots
@@gamemastershit yeah old yorick so broken, i remember use yorick and buy all cooldowns reduction with mana item like frozen heart to make 40% cooldown reduction on lv 6 with 40% cooldown reduction literally can solo baron so broken, cause you always can summon ghoul and the ghoul tank the baron hit also u get 5% damage reduction for each ghoul and your ultimate that you summon with total 20% damage reduction , and the ghoul can heal you, with 15% damage reduction + heal on level 3 you even can 1 vs 2 the top+jungler enemy gank, yorick is unpopular champion it make even better cause the opponent have no idea how your skill work lmao
I actually really hate the new yorick. I used to play him fairly regularly back when he still existed, and I’d specifically play him as a teemo counterpick. His old w was basically just a mine sweeper. Now that it’s been changed, there’s nothing really like it anymore. New Yorick is ok, but not that special to me anymore.
I still miss old Yorick, he was a weirdo that nobody knew how to counter, his damage fell off hard on late game and your teammates usually gave you shit for picking him but that was part of the fun.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention that when Irelia rework dropped, her ult had a new CC. Disarm was literally so broken that they had to remove it next patch, and never mentioned it again
@@Relevart9169 yes, it locked you out of auto attacks. So, even if you were the worst Irelia in the world, if your ult hit 2+ people including the ADC, you won the fight
I play swain quite a bit and got to agree with the voicelines, I really love his voicelines, especially that one "They are five steps from realizing: I am ten steps ahead." just intensifies that mastermind attitude
Although I say that Fiddlesticks is objectively the best rework, Warwick took the cake for me years before. He is my main, the reason I played league and when I saw he was getting a rework I was expecting it by the day and it didn't dissapointed me. It had everything I wanted, he bites, he runs in all 4 and he has a howl that scares people. Best of all? The rework arrived in my birthday (January 25) so yeah, it is perfect. Also, yeah, Warwick, Fiddlesticks, Nunu and Willump, Volibear and Pantheon should be the norm for reworks
warwick i think has only ever been nerfed or buffed due to overall changes such as durability update which to me DOES indicate that he is a near flawless rework
@@gadrielvanorion9872 also, he is an indicator of any new season jungle updates. If he is incredible strong in it, then the jungle needs a bit of a nerf. I love Warwick
FIddlesticks is only the best rework thematically and visually. Gameplay wise they: -Made how janky he feels with opponents that run away WORSE (he now especially wants people to stay in range until the end of his w). Having a limited range champ who needs to stand still to attack, where literally the only form of mobility-impairing CC forces enemies to RUN AWAY, is a very major gameplay issue and was imo always his biggest issue pre-rework as well. -Kept his stupid point-and-click hard CC ability. He did have a lot of gameplay improvements, but he's still leagues behind Warwick in that regard.
It also doesn't help that few months before her big VGU she was mini-reworked into being a viable jungler, which was way bigger gameplay wise than the 20% movspeed while ulting was that she got with the visuals.
mordekaise has the best ultimate in the game after all she gives you the feeling of what it's like to live in Brazil and as a Brazilian I perfectly approve of this ultimate
I feel like a change to Poppy’s lore just a bit could mean a lot, like instead her just not knowing, there’s a part of her that thinks she might be the hero but that if she is, she doesn’t believe she’s strong enough to help Demacia, thus, she looks for a hero stronger and better than her when they take the hammer.
Kayle's whole idea is that she is trying to get away from being human and failing because we're all human and try as we might that frailty is apart of us, having her turn into some alien cosmic thing at level 16 would undermine the theme. Aurelion, Voli, Pantheon, the Watchers, Janna, the Ascended and the Darkin are all tropes that deconstruct the perfection of godlike entities and Kayle is the most obvious foil showing the player why that is futile. This trope is pretty much the core theme of the game, they're all gods, but they're all flawed and frail in a way that slowly makes the player see they aren't truly gods with their very human frailty. Kayle is the reverse trope, instead of a god who displays humanlike qualities, she is a human who is aspiring to become a god. She sees mortals as needing guidance and naturally self-destructive and tries to annihilate her own emotions and personality to ascend above humanity. It's clear that she struggles however, she felt guilt at her hand in her father's death, rage when Morgana kills Ronas (who she loved on some level) and she has a whole host of conflicted emotions towards Morgana viewing her as both sister and enemy at the same time. You're not really supposed to think "oh is Kayle a god" she obviously isn't (she's not even a legit Aspect) but watching the same god complex quandary, but playing out in reverse provides context for the other "gods". The properties of godliness she is imposing on herself are the same that are happening with all the other godlike entities. Here it's more pronounced and forced to make us see how silly pushing for godhood is when she falls short. Her righteousness, stoicism and lofty purpose cannot cover up her humanity.
I 100% agree with this. I'd also like to add on that as she becomes more powerful, she needs less armor as she becomes more godlike but through the visual changes, her humanity becomes even more shown. As you finally see what she truly is, at her most powerful, she is still human. It also plays into the Greek God thing of not needing clothing because you are that powerful.
Old nunu was one of the first champs I ever got in league. His AP snowballs were some of the funniest health deleters back then. Combine that with spamming nunu bots laugh, and it got even better! Good times
i mean they where ultra toxic but ultra fun the fact nunu legit runs up q you lose 25-80% of ur hp out of fking nowhere especially since they deal 0 dmg early but as soon as the first back and lvl 3-4 the balls start to massacre shit also also, the heal was bigger healing as much as he dealt was so fking hardcore
There was a very long period of time where I thought old Evelynn and Elise were the exact same champion and then when they reworked her and Elise and her started appearing in my games I suddenly realised I might be a little bit stupid
One thing I wished they added to Yorick's rework was different types of ghouls based on what minion you killed. Like if you killed a canon with Q you could summon a tanky ghoul that did some damage or if you Q'd a caster you could get a weak ghoul but would attack fast.
I like how there's nobody from the Assassin rework update on the list because almost everyone got reverted back to square one(rip Rengar single AOE Q penta kill). Except Talon, which you forgot since he kept his Assassin reworks where his passive, Q and E changed to the current parkour iteration.
the adc update and juggernaut update are also not here rip 5.0 kog i loved tht lil fucker on top with cull legit could build cull and full AS early and rock reality apart
@@Korinengamecorp Yeah I noticed it, should include everyone that has a game update since their playstyle were drastically altered. He added Morgana which was only a VU, yet Sivir is missing. There's also champs like Skarner, Garen(basically a VGU, remember his ugly scarf that was supposed to be a cape), Veigar, Zilean, Ashe and many more who've received gameplay updates and changed the way it was played
Actually fun fact they *did* do a mini update to Yorick's E where now if you land it, any graves automatically spawn a ghoul and yeets it at the opponent, meaning you don't have to wait to farm up 3 graves to actually engage. Really helped his team fight/split push given that you get a free grave every other wave and Q is on such a low cd late game. Plus the cage is sleeper op, not only to catch out players but to slow down a push given that enemy minions are blocked too. So uh yeah he's not useless without maiden. 10000 times better yes, but he's at least not a cannon minion without her
old karma got 160 ap on low hp for free i think on lvl 1 she started with 40 or 80 or something like that with her burst q it was fking nuts old karma was a bitch
Started league when jinx came out, my friend would play ad sion and just stand under towers and life steal and I thought it was so cool, I wanted to play a life steal champ so I played aatrox and he's been my main ever since 1.1 million mastery and I think his vgu was such a needed improvement. Sure his old kit was erased, but God damn his old kit was awful. If the ability you max in lane isn't even really a useful skill outside of lane your champions kit is bad and it needs a redo. Old aatrox didn't even have an identity he was a bootleg amalgam of Jax and tryndamere with a little bit of xin thrown in. Now aatrox actually has a kit that functions well with itself and has a gameplay premise that actually works and is badass.
New Aatrox is a much more fun champion than old Aatrox but that doesn't change the fact that they pretty much removed a champion to make new one. And Old Aatrox very much did have an identity, he was just so shit he could never see it properly pronounced. In fact, among the champions with major VGUs, he probably had one of the most easily defined identities. He had 3 key parts to his identity: 1. He's an auto-attacking champion. 2. He heals from attacking people. 3. He deals damage to himself, to balance out the healing (preferably should be a choice between heals or damage). Out of these 3 completely *key* components of his identity, they kept only the second. The first was not only removed, but they somehow managed to make him literally one of the least auto-attack focused fighters in the entire game. The last aspect meanwhile is just literally nowhere to be seen whatsoever. It really wouldn't be remotely difficult to give Aatrox a rework that keeps these 3 things. It's not like Sion where keeping his "identity" was pretty much impossible, it would've been really damn easy to keep these easily defined and broad aspects of his identity. For that reason the rework was way, way worse than the end result would imply.
@@jacobnorris8256 they didn’t listen to actually aatrox mains when making aatrox. That asked but decided to listen to literally everyone else who’s never touched the champion and made riven 2.0. People always said how bad he was yet I had no issues climbing with him despite the fact one item countered him.
Aatrox being similliar to tryndamere is literally lore accurate, Tryndamere got his supernatural abilities from Aatrox so it makes perfect sense that Aatrox is a death defying autoattacker like tryndamere. His old kit was better and more interesting, he is a demon of rage and bloodshed diving head first into combat damaging himself and enemies alike, perfect flavor perfect lore accuracy with tryndamere and a great champ. You might not notice it in bronze but Aatrox is a lot weaker design rn, some matchups he auto wins some he auto loses, he is the demon of war but he waits in range to catch you out cc chain you and run away to repeat it on cooldown bleh
slight thing, i think morde's greenness is still indirectly linked to the shadow isles by necrotic magic league's magic system is super cool because you can very much tell what kinda magic is what, so i just think green is the associated colour of necromancy
Fiddlesticks is the best. Especially the harmless scarecrow tactic, Its Lore introduces the Demon Pandemonium or hierarchy. The Ten Demons is just interesting and being the first is the best. Then Nilah calls these ten demons, LORD. So far, there's the Lord of Fear & Joy.
@@trosanlosan8803 Normal demons where a thing. But not Primordial Demons, aka the Ten. The progenitors of demonkind, who are far beyond any normal demon. That whole idea and "race"/group was introduced with the Fiddle rework.
I used to main adc back in the day, and out of my 3 champions only one still exists today, and that is Kog'maw. If I'd play Urgot or Graves adc now I would be called a madman. Rip Graves Adc Rip Urgot Adc, dead but not forgotten :(
No one ever remembers the Soraka update probably because she had the visual update released and then her gameplay rework afterwards. Like old Soraka was nightmare fuel and her old Q was obscene lol. Plus being able to heal herself without a skillshot and giving people mana.
Aaah man ... I remember when Twitch used to look like The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Sion's death stare or his shield, Fiora's Master Yi alphas trike as an Ultimate, Yorick's weird ult and annoying ghouls, Poppy q dmg xD Found memories of Season 3 and 4.
I feel like sejuani's rework was undersold since she also got the juggernaut rework that made her w not just aoe damage, made her e a stacking stun instead of just a slow, and made her ult single target with a slow field instead of a group stun.
3:20 Old Evellin looked like a smurf in a gimp suit After the rework it actually looked like a shapeshifting demon that wants to torture you mentally and psychically
Karma was a lot more than a visual update! Her gameplay completely changed and I'm still mad about it, she was my first character I bought and the first character I mained....
Watching this video two years later and seeing the end title of nicky asking for the skarker vgu is so funny knowing he comes out a whole 2 years later lol
1:05 Honestly, I think I'm burned out from the discussion but I realized that the real problem of Aatrox's rework was the lack of communication on Riot's part that they were going to just completely reimagine his kit and honestly, I don't hate it. I did initially but I realized that his gameplay depth has simply shifted from stacking passive and engaging with W toggled to Q ability casting and positioning. It's something and that's more than I can say about Mordekaiser who honestly lost depth with his rework, I get they wanted to make a more simplistic juggernaut but dear God, there is virtually nothing here from old Morde and that's really a problem when new Morde has no skill to flex at all. He's a literal stat check in every sense of the word but its really just that he feels so unsatisfying on top of having no skill expression. You get kited in ult by anyone with mobility, your E is too slow to catch people with a brain, if its against melee, you just build ap tank and... tank through everything W and Q. It's such a far cry from what his old kit and build versatility allowed him to do.
To be honest to fix Yorick only thing he would need is making his W spawn graves. It fits because its wall of mistwalkers right? So when wall is destroyed it will spawn graves depending on level of ability.
I wholeheartedly agree with Kayle needed to ascend in the opposite transition. She needs to appear with more armor near the end. As for Morgana, she’ll still use her powers to teach lessons, she just resents the divine and nobility. I don’t think that means she has to be dirty, but I also don’t think she can just instantly blend into society either. Old Demacia knew about the sisters, so it would take a while for people to forget about her.
Regarding Ezreal: You mentioned his W , but the one you mentioned was already the reworked one. His original W was able to heal allies and also grant attack speed to them!
And his reworked W would slow attack speed! For a long while, he was considered unplayably bad, but then someone realized ADC would use a lot of attacks... And then that got nerfed out of the kit. It was a huge slow, like 40% multiplicative.
Your comment on Vayne is the exact reason I used to play old Yorik as a support. Nobody knew what the hell he did bot lane and it was fun to bully people and then spawn double ADCs
okay it's driving me insane, what's the song you used in the background when you were talking about Yorick? It's on the tip of my tongue and it enrages me that i cannot name it
I've been playing this game so long I remember when Morde's shield just...absorbed an amount of damage equal to the amount of shield he had and it replenished every time he dealt damage.
I'd say Volibear's look makes sense since the gods of that region tend to have forms based on what people think they look like. Which is why the Thousand Pierced Bear eldritch horror looking skin is a canon look for Voli. The groomed look is suppose to take after the Winter Claw fashion style.
The thing about Galio is that he was originally Piltovan, he was just a massive reference to Disney's Gargoyles, and that's it. As a Malzahar main I'm really offended you didn't include him here. I reached mastery 7 with the guy by playing him AD top, when the voidlings dealt physical damage and you could shred tanks effortlessly. I used to practice with a friend who played Tahm Khench. I would deploy the voidlings, he would engage and eat me, and while I was safely inside of his belly receiving little damage he would be torn to pieces by the little parasites. When they made his first rework it was still good, but then they made him a mini rework and I would never be able to play him Ad ever again. RIP my good friend.
Galio was never from Piltover, the fuck is wrong with you? Don't spread lies about champions that aren't even in the game anymore, my god. It's your fault Malzahar got his shitty little mini rework in the first place. You wanted them to ruin him, but you can't admit it to yourself.
I don't think Morgana should be on this list cause she didn't get a full VGU. She got an ASU and the only thing that changed in her kit was her ult gaining a slow on the primary cast. Old Morgana didn't have a slow for the first 3 seconds of Soul Shackles, that way you can keep up with the people you hit. Everything in her kit stayed the exact same beyond that though. Nunu's also is not perfect. The snowball is the worst ability they could have ever released.
lol I remember when Star Guardian Akali came out there were all these comments about how "her animations finally look good." and "she needs a visual update." Like they didn't know that Akali was already reworked hahaha if only they knew the truth O_O
Very surprised Master Yi isn't on the list because his VGU was the first big one. Though i guess his gameplay didn't change too too much. Rip AP YI tho.
@@WildKamuranexcept it was a lot less annoying than todays evelynn who just jumpscares you into oneshot, while back then she was just a bit of a bursty bruiser
The thing about kayle is that she's not supposed to be a tanky character, I recall seeing a post or a tweet from a rioter who basically said that if she had the amount of armor on all the time it would mess with her visual clarity. Essentially armor would lead people to believe that she's supposed to be tanky when she's not.
Strange argument by said Rioter when her silhouette shifts three times in a game, and honestly none of her forms ever communicate the fantasy of a ranged dps. She looks like she's gonna fly at you real fast and do a lil' Yasuo action
One suggestion I've heard to combat this and I'm not sure if it was from Nicky himself, was to make her looks more like a biblically accurate angel essentially. As you level, she gets more eyes, wings, rings, whatever. Just way more alien and cold looking. It wouldn't mess with the "visual clarity" in terms of making her look like a tank. Plus it would just look way cooler than a Kai'sa gold bodysuit and an awful anime haircut.
@@jobbersupreme8720 Wait, really? I thought she was based on seraphim given she has 6 wings. But like Nicky said if she doesn't wanna be human so bad why would she look more human as the game goes on?
I've been an Evelynn main for a long time before and after the rework, andi agree that It's perfect. She did lose some options, and her abilities and playstyle shifted dramatically (at least for Simeone Who played her a lot), but what the rework did was shift the power budget of her kit in a way that made possible to tweak her numbers and make her strong without her being oppressive. Also It focused the playstyle (you could build anything on old Eve) making so the players and the developers knew what she did (until a little bit before the rework i think ad bruiser Eve was meta). The work they did on the design, voice and lore Is also amazing.
Definitely one of the worst reworks in my opinion. They turned an awesome bruiser with decent burst against full hp targets, into cringe magic shred oneshot gimmick assassin
pantheon has to be one of if not the best rework that riot has ever, not just the gameplay and visual but the lore as well. he was killed by aatrox WHILE possessed by the aspect, but through sheer willpower and big dick energy, he was resurrected and he defeated aatrox as a mere mortal man. panth is the biggest gigachad out of all of the champions and there isn’t even an argument.
Someday, I actually hope they do a game mode where we either play as or play against the old models and kits these champs had. Like maybe use them in doombots or something
i have a hard fking urge to play old pantheon, gp, aatrox and yi old panth was a lil more an asshole then current panth old gp was kinda hilarious with the lil bleed, since he could stack it at any moment and keep the 21 dmg per second up old aatrox was a whole different champ and old AP yi was the funniest shit ever
@@gadrielvanorion9872 old panth summarized - corrupting pot lvl 1 q q q q q q oom. go back q q q q q q q q q. giga lane bully who could also dive VERY effectively with his passive blocking turret shots
I actually want Yi's rework to have his Q as an Ult maybe tweaked a bit damage and interaction wise but somewhat the same... it's too iconic on him but too strong and annoying for a basic ability
That’s literally pre-reworked master yi. Idk man, having ur entire kit centre around ur ultimate that only comes out every 2 minutes doesn’t seem all that healthy gameplay wise tbh.
Mord went from a scaling AP champ that has a objective base sub ult (dragon) to a champ that only brings damage and suppression. But since the suppression is in another area away from a team fight you teammates can't capitalize properly on the suppression. it's literally a worse version of Malzahar as a result. Yes he is now like most top laners but he lost the niche that made him viable in pro play. Anytime Aatrox is available it's a better option then Mord.
The first rework I ever saw since I started playing was Sion, which was odd for me to figure out what was really different about him at the time cause I had never seen old Sion or played old Sion. Now he's like one of my favourite champions.
Katarina rework is also great. For me, I also miss her old skills but the new rework of her is magnificent wherein there are so many things that can be done or should I say her new skills can outplay others champs even though she is low. Just sharing my thoughts :)
Kat rework was great. One of my fav champs. Kind of the special take on an assassin. Instead of blowing one champion up and being useless for the rest of the fight, she resets on kills which makes her more useful in team fights, but it’s also harder for her to burst squishies down compared to other assassins(at least if they don’t step on the dagger)
@@cckmyuxun3689it was always like that fyi. Her old was way better imo because you didn't have to worry about where the daggers go and could shunpo anywhere her old dagger also bounced like 7x
@MilkyCamps I do agree with you that old Katarina was far better. I love the new one, same with Eve, but I do miss the old ones. I duo tricked both of them since s1, got d1 in s4-8 with them. Her low cd w and her shunpo giving damage mitigation helped a lot when trading against talon, zed, and yasuo. I also miss ward hopping. I also miss old Eve because I would take her top with tiamat and get lifesteal items. Imagine a 360 ad, 60% lifesteal invisible assassin with a cleanse movement speed ability, a barrier ult, and a double onhit proc e that gave 120% attack speed. She was such an abuser of old guinsoo, bork, ravenous, bt and trinity force. Best split pusher and jungle invader as well. And it was rarely ever played so the enemy team never knew how to handle it
Even though Aatrox was a good step lorewise for the Darkin I still miss his old iteration because he was subversive in comparison. With his current verson you get what you see, an angry demon who wants to destroy and kill, but even though his old form also looked like that he behaved very differently, was very soft-spoken and moved with a certain poise and grace.
I'd argue aatrox still shows intelligence, grace and eloquence in his quieter lines. Makes him more tragic, since you as a player have an understanding of what he's lost by both knowing old aatrox and listening to his lines. I wouldn't argue it was intentional, but I doubt the insec was either and yet it's still a great addition.
"Visual clarity is only a factor if your champion is not popular" Nicky dropped the based truth that I will set in stone and someday (I hope) I will hit someone from Riot HQ in the head with that stone.
Old Poppy ult still gives me nightmares. I will never forget a Poppy going full ad, ulting the carry, and shitting on the entire team without taking damage. Basically a Olaf ult on steroids.
I will say I think Kayle's design makes sense. I see it as she covers herself with armor to start because she is human and she needs that protection. Kayle and Morgana have a few lines that hint at that. When she ascends, she takes off the armor because she doesn't need it anymore, she's not a "frail human". I do prefer her original armor to her current armor. Ideally, she would start off as Traditional Kayle and end up in her lv. 16 armor. Though, I do think it's sweet that she has a hint of purple to tie her to her Morgana visually.
Old Tarik was amazing as a counter engage support. Especially now that every champion has several dashes to dodge his stun, I think there really is something to be said for point and click crowd control. I basically stopped playing that champion after they reworked him.
The only thing I wanted to change in new Morde is the ult effect after killing someone. Just gimme back the champ spirit while keeping the 1V1 area. I miss being a duelist god while having a minion close because his old W (I think) was that continuous damage over time around him and a buddy while also building his passive shield and them Healing a crap ton if you finish close to someone.
as someone who played Old Karma I put her rework under "utter shit" since they did not simply rework her they flat out replaced her with completely different lore, kit, and design. She was significantly more fun with her old design instead of the boring Q spammer she is now.
about the green on mordekaiser: i think this green/blue is used to represent a "life after death" color, and not necessarely shadow isles. i mean, all "undead" champions have this color as far as i remember, like mordekaiser and pyke
a nice update to yorick could be to put a cooldown instead on his ghoul summoning, and killing minion with q would reduce the cooldown, he would still rely on ghoul, but it would be a lot more reliable
Evelynn didnt have an execute before if I recall correctly, it used to do current hp% instead of execution so you were supposed to use her ult first in the combo
