Some people see their dream house, while others see the same house as a teardown. A large pile of blocks is what many of those houses look like from the outside and on the inside its a collection of poorly constructed small boxes. Then there are so many more issues in Ja like Infrastructure: power, water, road, transportation...then how about the big one, yes security. No matter where in Jamaica you live, there is no security. Anybody who spend extended periods in Ja and worldwide can tell you the same thing. Plus many of those houses are renting rooms on Airbnb. What rich people rent rooms in there house?
Please do a series on private high schools, show the world that we have great schools as well as public schools. Let them see what our curriculum and facilities are like.
why? its all pointless when over 60% of the nation is impoverish!! smh. quite pathetic and highlight the awful state of people minds. i.e. getting some kind of thrill driving by the poor each day to kick back and bask in wealth. what has the great schools done over the years to cultivate minds that have humanitarian and proper infrastructure agendas? all the schools, especially the elite ones propel this disparity.
Great share! Thanks 💛. Just came back from Jamaica this month, after spending two weeks out there! Had such a great time I had to do a vlog. The people, food, sunshine and beaches were all to die for! Can't wait to go back 💛
Mandeville have some of the most lavish houses in Jamaica even before some of the other places mentioned can't believe he didn't mention Mandeville 👈🏾🤦🏾♂️
IN FACT SOME LEADERS FROM MILITARILY POWERFUL COUNTRIES WOULD BE HAPPY TO BOMB OUT SOME HA DEM MANSION, YES DEM BADMIND, THE THINKING IS THAT THIS LIFESTYLE IS TOO GOOD FOR A COUNTRY LIKE JA. TRUST ME.
Money deh a Jamaica, and people still can live well without going overseas. I know people who grow up in humble beginnings, and they are living well now here in Jamaica, their parents didn't have to go overseas to make it happen, they worked hard and going through school.
Marlon Christie easier said than done my dear. It's not like that anymore. It was waaaay easier back in the days but now everything is expensive. It's easier to work overseas and build ur houses here. I mean u can live here and do it but it's going to be 20x harder. That's just the awful reality
Marlon Christie Of course, money is in Jamaica but it is concentrated in the hands of a very few. Most Jamaicans are not middle class and that's a reason why it's a Third World country. It's extremely hard to move from being poor to even middle class much less the upper class. If you're born poor in Jamaica, you can't even afford to go to college these days to even study to be a teacher or nurse. If you're not blessed with some super talent like Usain Bolt and Chris Gayle, you will stay poor in Jamaica once you're born poor.
legba eshu You're welcome. I know how many Jamaicans like to pretend as if it's paradise. That's when I have to ask them, why did you migrate if it were so great there? I'm a realist. It's very hard economically for the average Jamaican. I won't even get started on how the crime rate is another big turn off.
legba eshu I know someone who witnessed the shooting of her boss, a business owner in Jamaica. Gunmen just walked into his store and killed him. It was alleged that he was killed because he wouldn't pay them the extortion money. His family fled Jamaica after his murder.
hit wonda you don't want that. Too much material assets create fear. Live simple and you will live longer no matter how much possession you own. Unless you're going to create jobs and lift up the ones at the bottom.
It's not that hard, start with a one or two room and work your way up. In no time you will be amazed to see what you accomplish. Trust me I've experienced it first hand for myself... Just start! it's not that hard.
Make sure you take some time off (two weeks is good) and go and spend your money the way it's supposed to be spent, you cannot count on no one... Be be
Yes!!!! Stony Hill! You need to come to Fort George and Panton Road Communities (both in Stony Hill) and show them!! We have breathtaking views, lushy flora and clean, fresh air. Smokey Vale is lovely as well. All of them, but especially Smokey Vale overlooks the city of Kingston. It's sad I didn't hear you mention Red Hills, it's nice there too.
Despite all of the negative and derogatory things happening in our country, Jamaica has some of the most beautiful and peaceful neighborhoods. It's just so unfortunate that our government doesn't cater for jamaicans as much as Chinese or white people...
Back in the 1970s after Manley introduced the political ideology of Democratic Socialism, many wealthy and upper class Jamaicans who feared the country was going communism, sold many of these houses for less than market value and fled to North America and the UK. Those who remained and could afford to, wisely bought up these houses. This flight of capital presented golden opportunities for people in the middle class as well because they were now able to own luxury homes for far less than market value.....And I mean far less. Today these properties have appreciated tremendously in value. The thing to note is, these areas never lost their prestige. And as a side note, Some of the neighborhoods you mentioned have been historically known for their affluent residents, including Tryall which was home to Lady Churchill, a relative of Sir Winston Churchill. Then there was John Rollins, the multi billionaire who owned vast properties in the Rose Hall area. Rose Hall is the larger community that incorporates the neighborhoods of Ironshore, Spring Farm and Coral Gardens. Teach Dem, I have been around long now my friend. LoL.
Dak G I have heard stories of the early 70s My Aunty was one who left her "Big Job " and Migrated Sold house and land in St. Andrew. It truly opened the door for the middle class.
Yes if you are talking about when America brought about Seaga to detabilise the Manley government. I remember vividly that was when guns and crime rocketed in Jamaica. People had to leave the island. I wonder when Jamaicans are going to realise how Jamaica suffered and was sabotaged like other African countries. Our leaders go down as dictator and criminals the latest Mugabe.
When I was in Montego bay I heard about Ironshore that its one of the richest biggest houses with swimming pool in Jamaica. I wanted to rent a room there but the rent was like JA$60,000 about 5yrs ago.
Jamaican real estate is overpriced almost everywhere on the Island...I study the metrics and there is no justification for these prices. Many People in JA confuse a big house with a house of fine quality. Most of the houses I see in JA look very crude. That includes new builds, big small and in between.
Most of the homes are overpriced here in the states , on the contrary in Jamaica you are getting better quality 2000 times over and more value for your money.
Get land and build folks. Buying a house already built will be VERY costly. Big Up St. Mary 💚💛❤ yes I'm a country girl n proud. But big up my fellow yaadie people. #wesaywhatmostthink
awesome comments a home is where your heart is , I love to come home pull in my driveway and have nothing to worry about , no confusion about landlords , when you own your home you own almost everything , but don't forget to lift your head and say thanks .
It's just that a house , the size just means more upkeep and output of everything to maintain. Personally, with age should come wisdom but not so for many. What's the origin of that word posh🤔🤎👀
I am Jamaican American , I would love to live in Jamaica again one day but the violence is a determining factor. Are these areas safe for the most part?
Even the non-rich areas - most ties crime finds people who are involved in the lifestyle. Don't let the hype and poor journalism of constantly sharing crime in Jamaica make you think that JA is unsafe. Most people are minding their business and living life. I'm from the UK and moved here by not returning to the UK when it was my first time visiting last year. I'm a single woman and had so many JA people help me. My heritage is not even Jamaican. Trust me, I think you'd be good. Come home. ♥God be with you.
Even with what appears a struggle to read and speak eloquently,as well as without grave deficit, you are to be commended. Your effort to try is admirable.Additionally prizing a topic, whereby exhibitions of lavish living is featured. Welcoming. Do advise your listeners, however, though these residences are sprawling with architectural structures etc, stress residents work, save and invest to accomplish their dreams. Stress means to growing as a person to devise a way in which to capitalize upon such. Though there are schools, there are also ways in which to be a self starter and motivator. Great presentation. Continue to practice you will do fine. Your contribution am sure is appreciated world wide, representing the island as one of many with easy on the eyes sights, lifestyle and constructed dwellings.
I went to water-works and is bare nannies & live in housekeepers there, IT LOOK LIKE THE ONLY ONES WALKING ARE THE HOUSEKEEPERS & NANNIES! I also went to Mandeville and when I look at a house I thought it's like one of those foreign glass house you would see on Celebrity houses or in a fancy movie. The houses dem also got plenty million dollar solar panels on the roof, business people, mixed race & returning residence live there. DEM SELFISH DOU CAUSE NONE A DEM HELP ME WHEN MY SLIPPERS DID BUST PAN ME ON THE ROAD NEAR Knutsford Express depot!
Excited to see the land of my birth and the things that are of interest to us. I can see the rich and famous are the persons who are accepted in Jamaica. Is it why crime aren't being addressed in the island. Poor people murdering each other and the poorer enjoyed it for celebration. Very beautiful place to live sooner or later poor people might have no where to go with the selling out of the island.
I work in the foreign USA florida the house them up here a trash ido home restoration in the us if a water pipe burst in side all the board and dry wall of to take out and mold infested the house inspector ofto to and pass it for you to live back inside Jamaica house is the best
Right now Teach Dem I can say the richest places in Montego Bay is White Witch of Rose Hall, Spring Farm & Palmyra. I have a friend that had 2 lot over White Witch maybe about quarter acre and you are looking on $800,000 usd to $1,000,000 for 1 piece of land only and the house not build as yet you also have to have maid quarter different and gardener and you can't build no little 3 or 4 bedroom over there or else you breach their contract. Houses over there after building can run up to 7 to 8 million usd. I use to think it was just the great house over there and golf course back in the days until my friend took me over there and realize this is where the richest of the richest lives in Mobay people can sleep with their door open over there security flood the compound. No wire run in the air everything under ground well organized and it's also the best golf course over there and the famous Great House of Annie Palmer
This video drew out so many negative people. I am happy for the persons who are able to afford this lifestyle. Is the playing field level? No! But you can start somewhere. The best place to start is with parents who are determined that their chn will not do what they did. They ensured education took paramount place in our lives. I have said it, my parents positioned me, now I am positioning my son. The mansion might miss the two previous generation but it may come in either this generation or the next. One, one cocoa full basket. Plan and set the foundation and watch the dream blossom. I might not live to live in the mansion but my child and grandchildren might. I am continuing what my parents started. Too many people have the get rich quick mentality and won't set the foundation to leave a legacy for their grandchildren. Probably, I think like this because I don't have to be rich. Would be nice 😘😎😅 but not at the top of my list of must do.
Beautiful homes. But you still have folks in Jamaica, who are suffering. Who have to face the harsh reality, of crime, and lack of basic resources. People living like this are far removed from those who are poor and underserved. Just my opinion. Happy for those who can afford to live this. 👍👍👍👍❤💚💛❤💚💛
Teach Dem no not everybody in Mobay is a scammer a lot rich and influential people live here to enuh even the great Oprah Winfrey stays at spring farm in mobay which is by far the richest community in Jamaica believe me ,that place can rival with Beverly hills any day.
If I had he money to build a grand house,I would build s housing community for friends and family and church people in the community that I have chosen to live roads and a church also shops and a school even hotels. If all black people thought like this Jamaica would be a wonderful and safe place to live. And love would reign.
Lawd Teach, I keep re watching this...yuh look REAL RICH ina da video yah!! Lighting up, background clean, hair and grooming sell-off!!! One Teach Dem fe lifff
Teach you should be in Grenada now covering the sports where most of the athletes like Kirani James, Asafa Powel and other famous Althletes like Veronica Campbell-Browne, Gathlin, Merrit and others. Dang these places are beautiful oh my Goodness
I passed through there 2019 and could not believe I'm Jamaica !!! I have never seen homes that big and beautiful in my life and im well travelled and living on another caribbean island. Whole time driving through there I was like look at my country!!! Omg ...perhaps if I work hard enough I will be able to live like this one day. It's a beauty !!! If I'm ever daunted I remember that drive through...affi mek it girl, yuh affi live a ironshore. That's how I lift my spirit !!
Jamaica is just an amazing and memorable country, but, I honestly feel like alot of the houses in Jamaica are way overpriced. Like very overpriced. The price you are paying for the house is not worth it. The houses look big but are actually small on the inside and barely have any backyard space, have SMALL few rooms, small bathrooms and the architecture is just not worth the price. Also, excluding Kingston, alot of the houses are in remote places, barely any neighbors and with shopping centres a long drive away (Treasure Beach). Just a little something to add lol
I guss so, if you are refering to Treasure Beach. Definately, rural. Not like Kingston, Mandeville, Ocho Reous or Montego bay, just to name a few places with all the convenience colse by.
