10:40 That bit in the car when Steve asks Ricky who he's talking to has me in stitches every time. As soon as you started reacting to The Ricky Gervais Show, I was looking forward to seeing your reaction! :D
“Predicting the future” and ricky bursting at the first three predictions has got to be one of my favourite moments of the entire show 😂 never heard him laugh that hard before 😂😂
Sometimes they just don't want to listen to Karl. This time I got what Karl wanted to say. He was concerned about "losing the oportunity to learn from experience" he was thinking is people get the answeres to easely they would not value experimentation and learning by doing... in another ep Ricky said something similar about education and how kids learn at school.
I think Ricky, Stephen and Karl all got it right. Karl predicted AR would exist and Ricky and Stephen both predicted it would be pointless and shit. They all got it right.
i think the end where ricky walks off is the best lil gag animation from this.. the animators really nailed this show.. Everyone check out Karls new podcast!! he has been doing them since Covid! subscribe to his youtube channel
AnEasyGoPerson YT cause he makes and drops like 4-5 videos per day, all the time watching and editing, finding the clips, making sure the sound levels are all on point all while interacting with everyone in the chat during the day and posting exclusive and early content elsewhere, u don’t gotta be mad he’s being successful, it’s all good, everyone here loves the channel
He doesn't predict virtual reality m8. It's augmented reality he predicts. Virtual reality creates a whole new environment that isn't really there, where as augmented reality projects things on to the real environment that you're currently in... But truth is he never predicted neither, because both ideas had already been invented, VR was invented in the 1960's & AR was invented in the 1990's.
It didn't. VR and AR are WAY too niche to take off, fully. The barriers are too numerous and impractical. Outside of gaming, what use do VR and AR have in a practical world-sense?
I've watched the show when it came out, but after this long time i had to see it a second time. I choose your channel because you did a great job👍! You had fun, i had fun and at the end you gave your reaction. That's the way i like to watch, without interrupting to much. Thank you for the laughs ❤!
I used to listen to these on the train. Lots of funnny looks from my fellow passengers as I'd regularly be in fits of laughter. This reaction has just bought all that back. Brilliant
19:07 I think their actual issue is that Karl thinks the glasses would actually alter reality to make the landscape around you different. Luke say there's a table in front of you, glasses on walk forward no table to hit.
You can tell the animation is done by an American by a few slight details. But one I noticed is when Ricky is in the car and Karl is questioning him about the satnav. The car has a automatic gear shifter behind the steering wheel, much like most older American vehichles. More cars in the uk are manual than automatic. and out of those that are automatic, i can only think of a few models that featured the gear selector in that configuration sold in the UK. Namely a few old honda models like the old crv, a few mercedes models throughout the years like the r class and the viano, and a few American models sold as RHD UK cars.
Besides these amazing vids on karl Pilkington your whole channel is based on british comedy, and I love that! Huge props from Manchester, England! So happy watching your channel grow and good luck ✌
I’m really on Karl’s side in this episode. Instead of thinking for ourselves, we will just lazily be asking Google. We would also just use a sat nav rather than plot a direction for ourselves, cheating us out of both the adventure of plotting our route and the ability to read maps and navigate ourselves.
The steelmanning of Karl to make him sound smarter/less idiotic and more of a visionary is astounding. And the notion that he was responsible for a couple of Black Mirror storylines is just insane. This is a man who thought that there was a dishwasher (and Martians) on Mars, that a chimp performed eye surgery (and advertised the practice in the Yellow Pages), that early spacecraft had a banana dispenser to reward the 'monkey' for completing tasks correctly...and that Louis Armstrong was the first man on the Moon, in 1966.
Celebrity Juice. I love to see American's reactions to celebrity juice. My gf is from ct and she didn't know what I was throwing at her when I introduced her to that madness haha
I swear they just take the piss out of him by default, these podcasts were recorded like 20 years ago and Karl predicted AR, and they just said "bollocks" 😂😂
He's correct about the sat nav taking your ability to think for yourself, especially if you're literal minded, for example somebody was using sat nav and it said "turn left..(was about to then say at next exit) but this literal minded person immediately turned left, straight into a river 😃
Loving your reactions to our British comedians/shows/stand-up. I'm quite new to your channel, and have only just started watching some of your back catalog too, so I don't know if anyone has suggested this one yet, but if not, you might want to check out The Real McCoy. It's a classic 90's sketch show. The IT Crowd and Desmonds were also very funny shows. There are so many others, of course, but I'll save them for future recommendations (after I watch a lot more of your videos and see what you've already reacted to). Keep up the content, man. Happily subbed. To be honest, I don't usually even watch reaction videos, but yours are very watchable and entertaining. Your laugh is infectious :)
This is one of my favourite episodes even though it's not as surreal as some of the others. I think it's because what they're talking about is quite interesting, and it's a bit like having a conversation with your friends about fascinating subjects. Maybe Karl's interpretations don't seem as comic as in other situations because the whole concept of future inventions is quite strange on its own.
I totally get what Karl is saying. Since the invention of calculators nobody is calculating anything in their head anymore. I've even seen people using their phone for multiplying numbers by 10. That's what would happen if you got Google inside your head as well. Nobody would even bother to remember anything anymore or even think about stuff, when it's so much easier to simply look it up. People also driven into lakes, because the satnav has told them too. That's what Karl is talking about.
Carl's idea for the glasses imagine a world where if for instance you get annoyed at cycles change the bikes to anything you want " bunnies ducks ants would make driving amazing
You'll probably want to wait until you've gotten through the series first, but there's some great compilations people have made showing how many of Karl's crazy ideas have actually come to pass after the fact, either in actual fact or as film/tv plots.
Amazing work rate brother, the consistency of your uploads is appreciated! It would be GREAT if you could react to 'FAULTY TOWERS - THE GERMANS'. It's been causing a lot of controversy recently and was removed from some stream sites due to the use of racial slurs by a old army major character with dementia. It would be interesting to get your take on an old British comedy and how it seemed acceptable language to use. The episode is more offensive to Germans and women than anyone else and John Cleese has defended it. Keep up the good work 👍
Yeah, I find it so funny when I recall all the times I've used Google to answer a question but I couldn't have told you the answer to it 20 minutes later.
Hey bro love ur channal I just came across it today been watching all day I just subscribed watched Ali g and Ricky gervais I was wondering if u have heard of comidian paul chowdhry he is on fire right now in UK thanks for the videos love from London
karl is spot on with Google and the brain, just can't get it out of his mouth properly and it's right about a sat nav, I know people who have followed them and ended up crashing into stuff or going down 1 way roads because they only listen to a voice and don't look where they're going.
Hey Josh. Karl made another travel documentary series called The Moaning of Life without Ricky and Steve. It has two seasons. It's worth checking out after you're finished with An Idiot Abroad
Karl is bang on about the internet and google there (and identity and knowledge), even on a basic level, regardless of having a chip in one's head or not. It has also been accepted for quite a while already. (Indeed, any common-sense criticism about the internet has gone away and been wilfully suppressed by everyone since then, everyone puts on a blank face, or acts blank about it, when anything like that comes up, which is now nearly never - equivalent with a rise of ideological lunacy btw, the instincts or reasons are the same, of complete entitlement etc.)
Bell notifications: Didn't get this one or the rgs one yesterday. Only getting first two notifications. Think it's because the third video is uploaded too soon after the first two.
Karl's invented loads of stuff especially the black mirror episodes he should be credited for. It's mad he literally thought of augmented reality before anyone else though.
He didn't invent anything. Nor did he come up with the stories. To say he was responsible for two of the Black Museum stories in Black Mirror is to 1) deny that Charlie Brooker credits one story idea to Penn Jillette and 2) accuse Charlie Brooker, who has written almost every episode of Black Mirror, as well as several series of other programs, of plagiarizing the ravings of a shaved chimp.
@@NxDoyle in 2006 he talked about what's possible with augmented reality and at around the same time he talked about the love of two brains, which turned out to be almost exactly the same plot as that black mirror episode. These are facts. Whether you like these facts doesn't matter because facts don't care about your feelings. Have a nice day 🔔🔚
Part of my daily routine, thanks. Check out Karl’s RU-vid channel! He’s uploaded KP radio, little animated clips of him talking because he got bored with lockdown. Much like the podcast but it’s just Karl’s thoughts.
@@darklighter66 Ooo nice, but still if he did not know about it when he thought about this, then we can say he had the same good idea as the one that invented it. :) I don't know what was the content of the old ones, but as Karl was explaining seems very similar with what we get today. :)
Steve's wrong, Karl is right. Back in Columbus's day he wouldn't of found America using a Sat-Nav, as it hadn't yet been found by Europe yet! Steve is beaten by his own logic, if Columbus did put in America. He then obviously wouldn't of discovered it in the first place! And Ricky actually backs up my point 'How can you put an undiscovered place into a Sat-Nav'
