The Riddler's Revenge Full In-Depth Review | Six Flags Magic Mountain’s Record B&M Stand-Up Coaster

The key to this ride is to know how to ride it. Once you learn how to ride it you will like it. The problem is most people do not know how to ride it. When you board and get onto your seat you need to lower the seat down to the point where your legs are slightly bent. You will hear the ride ops use the word 'lock' during the boarding process. What this means is the seats are locked in place; they will no longer go up and down. Once you hear them say 'lock' feel free to stand normally so your legs are no longer bent and what you will now have is plenty of free space between the seat and that area of your body you dont want something pressed up against during this forceful ride. The second item is the shoulder restraints. You want to not keep your head pressed against the seat during the ride. You want to keep your head pushed forward so the shoulder restraints are just slightly behind your head. This will prevent your head from banging into the restraint during the ride. And that is how you ride the Riddler. Easily one of my favorite rides in the park.

Did a decibel reading on this thing just out of curiosity and it got to 118.79 when I put my phone close to the track. One of the loudest B&M’s out there

I just really have to appreciate this ride. It’s so old school and it really was one of the coasters that established Magic Mountain as The Thrill Park.

I've always liked this coaster and at 6' 3", I've never had any issues with the seats. I love how massive this thing is!

This coaster is SFMM's best kept secret. I'm sad that it's so underrated but I also kinda want it to stay that way so that the queue remains as short as it is :P But the seats on the train are finicky so if you find yourself coming out of the ideal squat position w knees unlocked plz don't hesitate to tell a ride op (even if they've already checked u) and they'll help u out bcuz that happened to me after they checked me the first time my seat kinda just slid up.

Being short the mini seat adjusted into a near sitting position, so it was perfect for me, also I actually like ride's noise...to me it's almost comforting, its superman's noise that gets me EVEYTIME! Lol..I love riddlers revenge :)

Oof, that bicycle seat lmfao. It's true. Also, it's difficult at times to stand up on this ride during those positive g force moments. You can feel the blood just rushing to your legs and feet and those few seconds of forces can feel like forever. You really have to make sure you get your seat adjusted comfortably before letting them lock it in place. One of my favorite things about this ride is how loud it actually is. When I was kid, the roar of the train freaked me out so badly I almost didn't get on it. It is just so intimidating. But that is honestly one of the greatest things about it. You feel the power of the train beneath your feet as you brace yourself through the ride. I also love the fact that it is themed to the Jim Carrey portrayal of the riddler. I think it makes it scarier honestly because it's such a gigantic and intimidating roller coaster that making it look all weird, campy, and zany like the older Batman movies almost gives off a more sinister vibe. Like its trying to candy coat the torture you're about to receive to deceive you into riding it which is exactly what the riddler would try to do in that universe of Batman. I also entirely agree with your overall score of this roller coaster. I think I like it a little more than you do though. Although it's not the most "fun" ride per say, like you said, that really isn't the point of this one. The fun comes from building up the nerve to get on and then be mesmerized by how intense and magnificent it is. I don't think there is a better standup roller coaster out there or at least one that has as aesthetic of a lay out.

The turnaround into the brake run is awesome

When I rode this, we were in the front and waiting a long time for the attendant to lock our seats. I made the mistake of sitting down on the seat. The attendant came from behind me, reached over from out of view to lock the restraint. I was not sitting, nor standing, and instead ended up doing the equivalent of squats during a 2 hour gym workout. I had to sit and rest for 30 min after the ride. My friends were laughing because they thought I got sick from the ride, until I explained to them what had happened - I had to hold myself upright in a semi-squatted position for the entire ride. We had eaten lunch just before the ride, but I managed to retain it all.

Not only was I not standing, I was off the ground. My feet weren’t touching the ground, and the whole ride was extremely painful. By far the worst ride in the park with that experience, and I’m sure it would be better in the squatting position. I tried to, but the ride ops were terrible, so whatever. I can imagine it’s a good ride when you don’t have the experience that I had

I love this ride so much, and the line is always a walk on / 10 minute or under wait.

most people who hate standup coasters probably don't know how to set the restraints right

I go to this park a lot but I'm not the biggest coaster junkie, I'm happy with west coast racers, ninja, and twisted colossus. i even like full throttle. But I was with my brother and this is his favorite ride and he convinced me to go on (plus the riddler is my favorite villain so I felt like I had to!) and my god it was instant regret LOL. I was scared of the drop.... turns out the drop was fine, the rest of the ride was hell. Headbanging non-stop and too many Gs for me. I wasn't even scared on it, just trying to focus on surviving. Got off and felt SO sick I didn't ride anything else the rest of the day :( Two day headache and jelly legs for a while! Definitely agree with your black diamond rating, I wish I had seen this video before going on it!

This was my first coaster in the park when I came back in fifth grade way back in 2001

I really hope that they update this ride with the new standup trains that B&M recently patented. I think it would take it from good to great.

My legs are hurting just watching this video... I haven't ridden this in the few years because I have not found a position that doesn't hurt.

One of the best and most unique rides in the whole park

I've ridden both it's sisters: Green Lantern and Rougarou (as Mantis as well). Green Lantern wasn't that bad, Mantis was awful though Rougarou is seriously underrated, Mantis is great as a floorless coaster. The worst standups are Togo ones like Shockwave at Kings Dominion or the rare Intamin ones like La Cobra at La Ronde

I love coster but the last time I when to a amusement park was 2 years ago but the last time I when I rode this thing like 4 times and it was fun

I love this ride!!

This is the most painful ride at magic mountain, second being twisted colossus. You literally have to wear a cup if you're a guy or leave your balls in the cubby at the station.

Praying that it gets the next gen stand up trains lol.

I tried this recently with my sister we hated it I was begging the ride to stop as soon as it began the pain was unbearable

It keeps closing down every time I try to ride it.

Idk why they made it a stand up coaster There’s nothing wrong with having seats sounds like they just wanted a world record

Why would you walk all the way around the mountain when you can just go up and over Samurai Summit?
