A man asks the devil: “How much does it cost to be the greatest guitar player in the world?” The devil says: “That will cost you your soul.” The man asks: “Hm... that's a little steep. What can I get for a dollar?” Devil: “Greatest bass player in the world.”

Tommy Johnson was not Robert Johnson. Tommy Johnson was another famous blues guitarist that was rumored to have sold his soul to the devil. It's actually suggested that the legend was switched from Tommy to Robert over time.
