So many people have asked me how I get my curls to hold when using the Dyson air wrap! Everything you have read online and have seen in videos is misleading you and ruining your curls! Comment below with any questions!
I was a hairdresser for 12 years and I am excellent at doing my own hair ( if I do say do myself 😊) but couldn’t get my hair very curly or get it to suck up hair . Your advise to keep hair damp and the bouncing , no cold shot and keeping it on while removing . So helpful
Great video! Thank you! Summery of the steps: 1. Use a heat protective spray before rough drying the hair to 90% scalp and 70-80% ends. 2. If ends get more than 70-80% dry, rewet them with a spray bottle. 3. Use highest heat, highest airflow. 4. Let the airwrap grab the ends of your hair and roll it up and down a few times on the end until it gets tight, then roll up to head and hold for 10-15 seconds until the hair feels dry. 5. Don’t waste time with the cool shot. 6. Don’t shut it off in between curls. 7. Apply hairspray to warm curls. 8. Don’t disturb curls until they are completely cooled. 9. Gently brush out curl from underside with paddle brush or fingers. 10. Add more hairspray if desired.
I rarely comment on videos, but I had to say a big thank you for this. It's a game-changer. I wasn't using my Dyson much, and it is now my favorite tool after trying your approach. You single-handedly alleviated my guilt for spending so much on this thing! Thank you!
I lost my hope to get better results from Dyson.. I tried all the possible techniques-mousse, cold shot, use curlers, etc. I was getting more or less good results. Occasionally 😅 until that moment when I saw your tutorial and tried it yesterday . No mousse, only a bit of hair spray. I woke up today and I still have my curls! Great video and great advise. Thank you so much!
Thank you for the most straight forward tutorial. I’ve watched what feels like hundreds of them by now and I just did it and THIS ACTUALLY WORKED! Thank you!!
Had to come back to say thanks for your video, I just bought a Dyson airwrap and loved how it styles my hair, until one hour later when it was all gone :-( I started to look for RU-vid videos with tutorials but they were all the same, 10sec hot, 10sec cool shot. I was sceptical of your way but I followed all your steps to a T and my hairstyle stayed in all day and now into day two it still looks great :-) thank you
My husband just got me the new Dyson complete for long hair for Christmas. I’m so excited just for the blow drying/smoothing part that I wasn’t even thinking about curling yet. I’m 5’11” and my hair goes down to my butt and it’s thick and lots of it. It’s a love hate relationship but I’ve only ever seen and heard good things about the dyson for long thick hair. My old blow dryer was crap and made my hair look like a lions mane. I’m so glad I found this video. I appreciate the real ness and down to earth honesty. There’s too many videos of people either bashing the tool while not using it or prepping their hair right or too many people blanket praising it and doing jump cuts to perfect hair with no real explanation and they don’t talk about how the hair lasts. Thank you for this!!!
One of the truly helpful tutorials on the Dyson air wrap! I just received one as a gift and I absolutely love it but I don't fully understand how to use all of the attachments. This helps tremendously just to know how to use the barrels effectively! Thank you so much for posting!
Okay so I’ve had Dyson for 2 months tried every single technique mousse, rollers, cool shots for 15,30,60 and 90sec, texturising sprays, a whole lot from all the videos I could find, buying along the way multiple products and tools. And THIS is the only thing that worked. Today it is day 4 and my curls are still there and dropped about 50-60% of what it was on day one but my hair still look like they’ve been blown dry after I applied some dry shampoo. Big big thank you for this video! ❤ Ps. I just used my standard hair spray nothing extra. Did not buy the products from the video.
What exactly are you doing differently now that you’ve watched the video? Im trying to understand which step exactly is the one that makes the curl last longer 😊
@@vivi4140highest heat, up and down technique, once done leave it, don't touch it, carry on with the rest of the hair. I don't use cool shot at all. Use hairspray after all of them complete let it set and brush through with fingers. I do exactly what the video shows.
This is by far the best video tutorial on the airwrap! I was about to return it too but I kept it because of your video and love it!!!! They should pay you for this ;) Curls finally lasting for days… even overnight with a clip!! THANK YOU SO MUCH from Germany 🇩🇪
Hi could you do another video and do a wear test? 😊 Like do your hair in the morning and give updates throughout the day on how the curls are lasting? 😃
I totally agree that the cool shot doesn't make a differences. The air is room temperature and the barrel is still hot. I always have to re-wet my hair after I dry it to get the curl to stay. I've actually been spritzing each strand with gel diluted in water. Before I ran out, I was spritzing with Color Wow Dream for CURLY hair (not the shine spray). Works great for hold and my hair is still soft. I usually use the Airwrap more like a curling wand for beachy waves, but I'm excited to try your technique of leaving it on and curling the normal way. I also loooove the long 0.8 inch barrel because the tighter curls last longer.
@@elizabethglazmanit is supposed to help your curls “set” or cool down immediately to hold the curl better but you can get the same effect if you just let your curls cool before you brush them out!
I have straight hair so I bought the ordinary colour wow but you can’t use it the same as the curly one. Is it only the curly one you can do that with?
@@lauralea328 The curly one is basically like a thin gel. When I ran out I mixed some other gel I had with water into a spray bottle. It seems to work just as well. I think the key is wetting the hair and also having a product that holds well.
Update!! I have been utilizing your tips and tricks with my daily hair routine when using my Dyson and I am so pleased to report that my hair is so much easier to do and the style lasts so much longer! I was getting along OK with the Dyson before thinking “it’s not the best but it looks better than it used to”.. but now it looks like I’m a hairdresser and I have you to thank! I appreciate you sharing your tips and tricks!
Thank you! I got my airwrap for Christmas, love the brush and the hair dryer but I was gutted the curls just wouldn't hold for me. I had watched sooooo many videos claiming fool proof techniques. I tried so many times and have spent so much on mouses, sprays and oils. Anyway 2 days ago I came across this video, washed my hair last night, used that same spray you used and heyy presto!! My curls stayed. Unfortunately I had to tie my hair back for work but I've had loads of compliments about the curl. Thank you so much.
Very nice video. Will try tomorrow. I think it's the very first one which is down to earth, normal and natural which doesn't happen a lot those days 🙄 thank you
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video! I ordered one today but started seeing the negative reviews and was worried. Now I’m excited to get it! 💕
Just got the airwrap! And my hair usually holds a curl VERY well so I was confused when my hair just looked like I got a blowout and not curled… I will try this thank you!
Ha! Last night I found your video and thought there were so many comments saying this really worked so I decided to give it a try and this worked for me too, i loved it, thanks a looooot ❤ i was sad i was not able to make a decent use of my Dyson haha ❤❤❤
Just posted a five minute tutorial for dry hair How to use the Dyson Airwrap | 5minute tutorial | Jessica Quick ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Gap27S8AJAU.html
Your tutorial was so helpful! I was beyond frustrated and feeling guilty for spending so much! Could you please, please link the products that you used?
Great video! Thanks for all your tips . . . can't wait to try them out! How many curls do you make on each side . . . video's a bit too fast for me to count (lol). A slower video showing you make each individual curl on one side would be so helpful! Also, what is your hair texture - fine or thick etc.?
Hello thank you so much ❤! The amount of curls depends on how thick your hair is but typically I do about 7 curls on each side. My hair is probably medium thickness and very fine, not a lot of texture. If you want a tighter curl do smaller sections 😊
This was helpful! I just bought the Dyson, because my stylist recommended the product. I couldn’t figure out the curling technique, so I’ve only been using the barrel brush attachment. Thank you so much!!
I have watched so many videos & this one actually works!! I curled my hair much wetter than usual, held the wrap close to my head to help dry it and it worked like a charm. Thank you!!! 🙂
I have one coming out next week on how to use it on bedhead/day 2 dry hair and on bangs! Check on my channel. Thanks for the idea I will do that one next!!
Ive been going back and forth debating on getting a dyson airwrap or not. I've heard mixed things about it that the curls dont last and fall out. When/if I get one, i will try it like this! I feel like my hair holds curls when air drying it or using the no heat method. If im going to get one of these tools, I'd rather get the Dyson and not the Shark.
Great tips! I use the .8 barrel and do 15 seconds of heat and 25 of cool and it really helps my curls last. I will try your tip to not shut it off when I release the curl.
@@AndrewAndBree I ordered it with the set. Not sure if it is still available. I have tried the larger ones lately and the curls drop in a matter of minutes.
Thank you for your helpfull tutorial. Jessica what is the best way to hold your curls during the night? I have long hair and always use a spiral plastic ring in Holland it's called invisibobble.. it won't stuck in your hair thing..
Great video and tips, I’ll give this a try today. I’d love to see a follow up in the evening and next morning to see how things hold up and how/if you touch up. Beautiful bathroom but unfortunately the natural lighting behind you is making things a bit hazy. Using an inexpensive suction camera mount on your mirror (or at least elevating the camera) might prevent the light from distorting things. This way you would also be able to look at the camera instead of talking to yourself in the mirror and would bring a more conversational feel to future tutorials. New sub, wishing you and your channel success!
I will try this. I have been struggling with the airwrap. Do you use the round brush attachments? I feel like I can’t get them to do anything with my hair.
I find the round brush doesn’t do much. I use it in my bangs but that’s it. I feel like round brush works well for those with curly hair looking to blow out straight.
Hi, can you answer me. Will the hot air burn the scalp if you lift the curling iron too close to skin? and the nozzles themselves get so hot that you can burn yourself. maybe something is wrong with my styler
Get anti frizz cream! My hair is naturally curly and is so frizzy when I Dyson without it! I also against this advice curl my hair when it’s already dry! I start using the smoothing brush whilst my hair is still super wet which also helps!
At the top there is a switch, you have to turn the switch to the other side so it changes air flow direction. If you have the older model you need to actually switch heads there should be arrows that help show you the direction of the airflow. Hope that helps!
I just got mine, my hair is thick, dry and curly. I have tried using my Airwrap and all I got was big frizzy hair. Could it make my hair silky or is designed for soft and smooth hair ? I kinda regret getting it, someone give me advice. ❤
They make a different dyson tool set designed for curly hair but my advice to you would be to blow it out first to get it as straight as possible then use the airwrap, rewet your hair prior to airwrap with a spray bottle but only very lightly. I’ll try to find the link for you for the dyson set designed for curly hair.
To who is she talking to? To herself ? It always looks a bit funny to be honest, my hairdresser also looks at herself in the mirror when she talks to customers :) but the video is great Thanks
I hardly ever comment but I came back to find this after watching last night. This is the first helpful tutorial. I feel like I should pay you. I am in awe of my hair and it’s my first try with your method. I didn’t even dry before bed because honestly I watched in bed. My hair has never looked so good in my life. Everyone should watch this as soon as they buy. I probably would have returned and missed my best hair ever. THANK YOU.
I never comment on videos..... GIRL YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER!!!! IT FINALLY WORKED.... I came across your video at 1am!!!!! So thankful I couldn't sleep. Thank you so much
Thank you so much for the explanation, I have my Dyson airwrap for 4 years now and never used the barrels because it didn’t work for me, but seeing your video help me to understand and I finally did it took me a little bit lol but I did it!! Thx 😊
I was so worried, just bought mine today and was thinking I made a mistake because of the comments I’ve read. I’ll try your tips as soon as I receive it. I’m about to purchase the spray and heat shield as well. Thank you!!
This is so on-point, excellent video! Thank you so much. I love my Dyson, but now I will live it even more. The only regret is why did I not buy it long time ago.
