Funny, I was thinking the same thing! I was wondering how you could wear a silicon ring and be able to drum without breaking it. I used to work for a company that grew silicon crystals for the semiconductor industry, so I am very familiar with the material.
I have different color silicone rings. I wear them to go with my clothes. They are comfortable. I also believe they are safer than metal rings. I enjoy them!
Silicone rubber ring is not very attractive. I rather have some kind of silicone protective sleeve that fits over a metal ring and able to take the rubber sleeve off the metal ring when not drumming.
Neat video Kalani! Thankfully whenever I got into hand drumming, my mentors made sure to stress the importance of removing watches and rings. Thank for hitting on the topic, I'm sure this will help some new drummers take the appropriate cautions while jamming to reduce injury and damage to the instruments! P.S. Just a minor thing, its silicone, not silicon ;)
