I do appreciate the foreshadowing of how vital oranges are to this show by having an orange in the background. Really helps fleshing out the narrative.
I like how the first movie was centered around the blue-green-ish colors, and this one is bland, more like a gray one. Just look at Samara and the well. The colors have changed a lot.
The reason the deer were CG according to interviews, was that tamed deer are a lot more difficult to come by and considerably harder to train. Also, at the time of year the film was being shot, deer were in the process of losing their old antlers.
On my dvd when the boy was in the bathroom at the fair, he took pictures in the mirror and Samara was in them later on, not floating. Also the toilets were not backing up. That was different.
The deer are probably *supposed* to represent the mythological Kirin, which punishes the guilty, but Then again I wouldn’t give the movie that much credit
My dude I love your videos and I always come back around to binge watch when I have a bad day but as much as I love your stuff I have to tell you that I am the master of skipping your music intro because it's the fastest way to wake up every cat in the house and have to fight to keep them on my computer. Aside from that man your shit is great and your analysis and summaries are the best when I can't be bothered to watch a sub-par horror movie.
Thanks for watching I'm glad you enjoy my videos I really appreciate it, and good news ! I no longer use that intro music so now they're even better for you.
@@deusdeaconReviews I actually like The Ring 2 but I at The same time I definitely agree that it could have been so much better I guess that Ehren Kruger much have accidentally got some kind of brain Damage since He forgot how to write A deceit Script
The Samara being afraid of water thing REALLY reminds me of the Jason being afraid of water bs from Freddy vs Jason. As much as I love that movie, that aspect was pretty dumb...
TySchnydes 23 Trauma is a surprisingly intense thing. When exposed to something that reminds you of a traumatic event, it triggers an instinctual response to try and avoid the source of distress, the intensity of which varies on a case by case basis. To use myself as an example, I suffered an accident earlier this year, and although my injuries were minor, I now suffer from extreme anxiety when around moving vehicles, especially trucks, due to the realization of how close I came to dying. And this is AFTER I experienced a mild fender-bender as a teenager with no noticeable consequences. So one can only imagine how traumatizing the act of actually dying would be to a spirit, particularly if that death were associated with something in particular. To better put it in perspective; me trying to cross at the light where I got hit is like trying to grab a knife out of someone else's hands by the edge of the blade.
@Brutalyte616 It's not an issue of understanding how trauma works. It's an issue of that trauma not being present in the first place until they needed it for the plot. Samara spent a fair amount of her screen time in the water during the first movie without any signs whatsoever of having a problem with it, and in fact seemed to use it heavily in her efforts to frighten and kill people. Likewise, Jason flat out charged straight into the water on several occasions without even the slightest bit of hesitation (IIRC, at one point he even followed some of his targets by holding on to the underside of a boat for a while) prior to Freddy vs Jason. This would be like the "Predator" sequels insisting that the aliens are afraid of the woods, or the "Hellraiser" sequels saying that Pinhead is afraid of chains. There are certainly reasons why people could be afraid of those things and it would make perfect sense, but it doesn't make sense for those characters to be afraid of them because they've already been shown dealing with those things completely without fear. Same thing here. It's just a case of the authors randomly throwing in a weakness without thinking about it because it was convenient for the plot, and contradicting previous portrayals of the characters as a result.
VenathTehN3RD You're forgetting they were in the dream world, not the real one. Freddy is all-powerful there. He could easily amplify something in the back of your mind into something entirely consuming. Especially since Jason really is just a child in a massive body. Go and rewatch Freddy vs Jason. When they first show the water, Jason looked confused, not afraid. It wasn't until Freddy went messing with his head that it got out of hand for the big guy.
The “Rings” short film is actually very interesting as it’s own, self contained story. It’s on RU-vid, so I say to give it a watch and decide for yourself: it’s less than ten minutes, so it won’t take up any of your time.
Nice to see this one back, too bad about the review of the first one. This film falls into the same hole that pretty much every attempt at an onscreen continuation of the story does. It wants to do something that isn't just a repeat of the first, but utterly fails at it. Ringu 2 is in fact even weirder and harder to follow, with a plot that just doesn't connect or make sense in any way, shape, or form. The crawling out of the well bit is actually from that movie, only the context for it is actually even more nonsensical than it is here. The bit with visiting the friend in the mental institution from the first US film is also from there, only it's wayyyy more over the top. About the never ending cycle, the original book series largely discarded the video tape in the second installment as well, but in its place, the cycle itself evolved into a deadlier, scarier form. So that worked, whereas this is just... wut. I'd think that a Lovecraft fan wouldn't have any issue comprehending a half human, half sea demon child. :P
Not only is this movie insanely depressing for no reason, being a tonal whiplash to the first, not only is it a horrible follow up to the original story, not only are the effects equivalent to a 1997 video game... i just cant believe the director of *THE ORIGINAL JAPANESE RING DIRECTED THIS* Its honestly M.Night Shyamalan levels of drop off
It also struck me as odd that Samara struck when somebody who hadn't watched the tape was around, or ANYBODY for that matter. She seemed to do it when she was alone with the victim.
If a child drowns one doesn't start with the chest compressions like with adults , one starts with 2 mouth to mouth ( also covering the nose too, if it's a small child) breathless donations and then starts the compressions . Sometimes the first 2 breaths are enough to sort of "kick start" them again if they have just been under water for a very very short time !
I had the exact same reaction about the water damage you had. The clean up alone is a total bitch, and I speak from experience as we had a downstairs flood once. It was even a minor one that caused no real damage and it was a total pain to clean up.
Was Mr sparkle the name of the guy who prompted the cleaning product, that looked like Homer ? Or was it really Homer ? Cant remember the episode properly...
9:54 I can kinda overlook Samara being afraid of water tbh, remember after all Jason is afraid of it too supposedly, yet he employs it on several occasions to do what he does.
The whole jason afraid of water thing was only introduced in the crappy freddy vs jason, because they couldn't think of any other way to make jason more vulnerable, I'm not even a fan of jason and know that was bullshit.
@@deusdeaconReviews I like Freddy Vs. Jason but I guess that eventually The Plot is going to get pretty stupid when You have made 10 Movies beforehand and In 2009 make A 12th Movie A Remake but I thought that The 2009 Remake was really good
@@deusdeaconReviews Jason's Mother Mrs. Voorhees was The Killer in Friday The 13th 1980 Jason Voorhees started killing People in Friday The 13th Part 2 1981
15:36-15:54 I think it worked much better in Ringu due to its slow and surreal tone as well other aspects like psychic characters. The Ring tries to be somewhat more down to earth and this was never established in the first movie, so it comes out of left field.
I agree that the Samara being afraid of water all of a sudden is dumb. I just had a thought about it though and was wondering what you thougt about it. If I was scared of spiders for example, and i wanted to scare the shit out of someone, I would use spiders. Couldnt it be a afterthought from the director when he made the last movie? Like the reason she used water is cause its scares the shit out of her? And he was like yeah, use it in the next movie. Dumb idea but I can understand it if that was the case :)
Samara is afraid of water when she’s in an actual physical state, she was afraid of water while alive, but when she’s in the tape she can control it, it would foil Samara’s plans in a physical state..soooooo hah!
One thing that stands out to me a bit is that Samara is apparently very starved for affection/love, so much so that she possesses a little boy in an effort to get into his life/take his mom for her own. Here's the thing, Samara was shown to be quite evil when alive, tormenting her own mother. Why now all of a sudden does she want a mommy? Does she regret anything, has she developed a sense of wanting that love/affection? I mean, sure maybe she's always wanted it and because she was freed from the well that's been amped up, but at the same time...it just makes me wonder in general about that aspect. Not to mention, what did Samara really think was going to happen? That she'd go to school/grow/etc. like a normal person or would she still fall into the type of person she was originally? Just plain evil? I don't know, I think it is an interesting concept that could've been explored more but at the same time, we didn't need that.
Maybe she Envy's what the son has in comparison to her own upbringing? I'm not going to think to much into it because it's never really explain. Maybe her upbringing wasn't good because everyone viewed her as a monster so she wants to be treated like adin is.
I just found your channel earlier today and have watched a couple of your videos. I like what I've seen and look forward to seeing more of the backlog and your upcoming works. Great stuff! In regards to Ring 2, The 2002 remake of The Ring was my introduction to Asian Horror, and I've been a big fan since. I still don't get how the original director made such a bad film here. Somethings just boggle the mind.
it just looked especially funny in this movie because it was such a cheap video effect. The first time I saw it I laughed because I recognized the pre-packaged effect. Edit: it happens like 1 second before the camera cuts away.
yeah its certainly just a crappy filter that snapchat would be embarrassed off, its also a split second in a pretty awful film so, Much like myself others must think they have bigger fish to fry.
It would be a interested concept if she hadnt shut the top of the well and maybe after samara comes out, they actually talked or came to some kind of compromise or understanding . Samara actually being treated like a human and being told by Rachel with compassion why she cant do these things. Her explaining hsr upbringing influencing her bad actions towards everyone or the rage she feels to kill people. literally anything that would make some sense. Its literally never explained why Samara wants a mom so badly when in the first, she simply enjoyed hurting people. They could expanded some backstory pf her being neglected or abused as to why shes so envious of adin. This movie failed when it could have been something great
so a trailer for 'rings' came out recently, i'm guessing it will be a remake of that short film. i'm wondering if you have any ~first thoughts~ about it, and if you will eventually be doing a review when it comes out
I will do a review on it, and i know its not based on the short film at all its new thing, and right now, Especially due to its many delays its gonna be crap.
hey desusdaecon the girl in the opening in the movie that is Sharon Carter from the MCU flims captain america the winter soldier and captain america civil war.

+Deusdaecon Reviews i just asking and i love your reviews man. And you not the only who hate that piece of shit avpr movie i hate it so must i rather watch the alien and predator movies plus prometheus and predators because alien covenant is coming out in 2017 and 2018 we get the predator are you happy man? p.s. keep up with the amazing reviews.
I hate this film with such a passion but the "I'm not your fucking mommy" line was funny to hear because Rachel was done with bullshit, that girl killed his niece, noah and now messed up with her son's mind.
The guy a thing the start of the movie screwed up when he told the girl it was scary. Had he not done hat, she would’ve looked and he would have not died. Wrong on his part, though, but good movie!
I didn't like the ending of this movie. All Samara wanted was a mother and she considered Rachel her mother since Rachel rescued her from the well. But then when Rachel rejected her and locked her back up into the well, I thought that was cold. I mean, I get that Samara was evil and everything, but still... I can't help but feel sorry for her.
They should have explored that concept more in the movie. It doesn't make sense in comparison to the first. Or samura killing anyone associated with her who didn't even watch the movie. Hell if they wanted to explore that concept, should have had samura spare noa in the first movie as a way to get closer to her since she had thought she was a innocent child
yo wut the part where they're in the park wasn't in the version of ring 2 I watched? Yo wut the toliet part in the bathroom was cut out too what da hec And the flickering lights wern't in my version of ring 2 AND THE PART WHERE THE NURSES GIVE HER DIRTY LOOKS???? WUT! WAS MY VERSION DIFFERENT??? Okay...I think you're talking bout the unrated version cause I don't remember half this in the film WHAT WHEN DID THE OTHER PEOPLE COME INTO THE ROOM WITH THE ABUSE GIRL AND WHEN DID RACHEL BECOME A NINJA AND SLIP OUTA A WINDOW ARE YOU KIDDING ME DAT NEVER HAPPENED????? WHEN WAS THERE A SUITCASE? Oh wait that actually did happen BUT EVERYTHING ELSE DIDN'T WHEN WAS THE WELL ON THE TV IN THE HOSPITAL? DONT REMEMBER ANYTHING ABOUT SAMARA'S DAD BEEING CATHULIOA OR HOWEVER YOU SPELL IT? Wait...nothing else is different???? k.............
You should do a review of Sadako Vs Kayako at some point, a Japanese take on Freddy Vs Jason which is definitely not a "good film" but damn I can't help but love it anyway
@@deusdeaconReviews fair enough it's not awful awful but they do use some Harry potter in an exorcism attempt at one point so probably beyond what you'd be able to enjoy
I don't get that film's ending. I mean, the two ghosts and curses fuse? WTF? Not to mention, since both could only kill you if specific conditions are met, how does that work now? Do I have to watch the tape AND be in the house?
@@SuperSwordman1 Sadakaya is what Sadako Yamamura and Kayako Saeki formed into for The Film's Ending at least that is what They called The new Spirit on Wikipedia
Dude it's hot garbage. The fight scenes were very boring and they just end up fusing together for some reason at the end. It honestly makes no sense why they would even acknowledge each other, let alone fight. It's never explained why there's even a conflict. It could have been made into something really interesting but instead they implanted the concept from Freddy vs Jason with two cursed spirit based on rage and sorrow.
The child abuse theme is interesting and, potentially, could've made for a great story, something like the Babadook. Just too bad it had to use the fame of the ring thing to sell itself, thereby ruining both itself and the Ring.
Its kind of interesting to think if it was explored how isolated and mistreated she was growing up and it having a influence of her hatred towards people. Why she wants a actual mom to love her but this movie kind of glosses over the obsession and it makes no sense
Yeah I know, this videos a few years old so I’m aware of the problem but unless I upload the video again there’s not much I can do about it, I can say that I don’t use an intro at all so that problem is no longer an issue
